Add default collapsed view or "don't show this again" option for featured available titles display in My Bookshelf
The planned/upcoming feature (as of January 2025) to add the ability to filter My Bookshelf lists by item availability is a nice addition. However, in looking at the preview, staff have expressed concerns that some patrons may find the carousel display of featured available titles too much, as a common theme we hear in feedback about the My Bookshelf feature in general is that there is too much scrolling and clicking involved to navigate it. The planned feature includes an option to collapse the view, which is nice, but allowing patrons an option to either set the default view to…

enhance URL linking to include Syndetics lexile/reading level filters
I received the following from a school superintendent in our service area, and I think this would be a beneficial enhancement to Vega for students and school staff:
We store the Lexile level in our local student information system. This means that pretty easily, we could show the parents their kid's level, then link to the two local library districts with some instructions on how to filter and search. But as I shared, they still have to do a lot of clicking to get to that screen where they can filter on level and subject.
So what would the ideal…

Editable verbiage on "forgot your password" reset page
Currently, patrons can click 'I forgot my passcode' on the Vega login menu, but the following page references an 'email address' as the required information to reset their PIN, while it actually requires a barcode. Please provide libraries with the option to edit this language to accurately reflect the PIN reset process or allow this page to redirect to a library-hosted webpage for further instructions.

Integrate The Palace Project into Vega
We recently joined The Palace Project and would love to have the items in those collections searchable and findable in our catalog in the same way that our Overdrive books are currently integrated, rolling up with other editions and requestable directly in the catalog. Ideally this would extend to LEAP as well so we could see the records alongside all the rest.
It's especially helpful for the more popular titles that the state library also has copies of or for niche titles only they have purchased. This would include both Palace Bookshelf items and Palace Marketplace items.

Display Material Type in Find a Copy view
We would like to see the Material Type (from Polaris) for each item in the Find a Copy view (attached) like it displays in the current PAC (attached).

Allow patrons to build alerts (email/SMS) based on Vega search filters
Integrate into Vega the capability for patrons to create their own notifications using advanced search filtering. For example, patrons could choose to receive a text through IPA:SMS whenever a specific author releases new material at our library. Additionally, they could opt to receive a weekly email with a predefined search filter, such as Availability (At Library), Format (Book), Collection (Adult Non-Fiction), New Material (This week), focusing on the topic "Nature".

validate new patron accounts with email or text
New self registering patrons should be put through a validation process using either email or text. This would reduce bot access and also duplicated records if the matchpoint for either contact method is found.

Auto-populate Patron Email in Share/Email Modal
Currently, when a patron is logged into Vega Discover and uses the Share/Email function, the email field remains blank. While some mobile browsers offer "autofill" suggestions, web browser users must manually enter their email address for every individual item they wish to share.
We suggest that the "Email" field in the Vega Discover Share modal automatically populate with the authenticated user's email address from their account record. To ensure flexibility, this should be an optional account-level setting. While auto-fill is ideal for patrons, staff often use the Share/Email tool to send resources to patrons. An optional setting ensures that staff…

Holds on items with volume control
In the PAC, when the volume field had an entry for one item on a bib record, all items would still show up for the patron to choose from. However, in Vega Discover, it will appear that all items are available to place a hold on, but once the user starts the hold request process, ONLY the item(s) with a filled volume field is given as an option to choose from. This has caused a substantial increase in broken holds and a holds bottleneck, as records with filled volume fields supersede records with unfilled volume fields when holds are placed.

Bookmark default should be "All" instead of "Available"
Right now the default in bookmark lists is set to "Available" when it should be set to "All" as the default. Customers are confused as to where the rest of their bookmark list is and don't know they need to toggle to "All."

Enhance patron reading history by including edition level metadata for serials
Patron reading history is currently of limited value for serials, like magazines and newspapers, because only the title and date checked out is recorded. Without edition level information e.g., volume, or issue number, patrons cannot reliably identify:
• Which specific magazine issue they have read
• How their reading history relates to citations, or research
This reduces the usefulness of reading history for researchers, students, and magazine readers alike.12 votes -
Display copies in Available statuses first in location drawer
When multiple copies of an item are assigned to the same library branch, the location drawer appears to list them in order of item record ID within the same location (this is also the case in our classic Polaris PAC, not sure how it is in Sierra). We have had feedback from front-line staff that they would like to see copies in Available status listed first, with copies in other statuses listed below. This reasoning makes a lot of sense to me. If a patron is opening the location drawer, it's because they want to know where the item is…

Create a data sync process or 'integrity check' for Vega/Polaris
We have had issues recently where items have been transferred to new bib. records and disappeared from Vega as a result and others where items were deleted and disappeared as expected, but then never reappeared once they were undeleted.
We would like to have a database sync process that can be run which compares the Vega database against the ILS to confirm that everything is in sync - basically a cross-system data integrity check or verification process between systems that would let us know if there was anything that was out of sync so we could investigate and correct it.

Sorting for ILS List Showcases
Thrilled to be able to create showcases in Vega Discover using ILS lists!
The lists seem to automatically sort to newest title first. We'd like to be able to maintain the sort order from the record set or have sort options once added as a showcase.

Staff User Accounts
We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

Number of Arrived Holds
On the Holds tab, it lists how many holds you have, but not how many have arrived. This would allow patrons who have a lot of items on hold to know exactly how many to expect at pick up.

Correctly Incorporate ISBD Punctuation in Title display
This is a problem that impacts AACR2 records, including a significant quantity of e-resources, government and vendor supplied bibliographic records>
Punctuation between subfields is treated as part of the subfield itself, causing irregularities in the display of several fields.
The way Vega removes the $h [GMD] from the MARC 245 field, and $b is present, the ISBD punctuation is also removed. {a [h] : b} becomes {a b}, some examples {a [h] / c} becomes {a } the : or / following the $h is added to the Genre field
According to ISBD rules the colon preceding the additional title…

Stop including subject headings from suppressed API-sourced econtent records
We came across situations where incomplete/unauthorized subject headings (see attached) from suppressed OverDrive API-sourced records are appearing as Topics in the record for the print version of the same title, even when it isn't rolling up with our ILS-sourced econtent record for the same title (see attached). We were told that even though we have our own ILS record for the title with those subject headings removed, and the API record that has those subject headings is suppressed, the content from that suppressed API record is still being passed through to Vega, and it is connected to the print record…

Add a "view all" option to the Site Configuration page in the Library Defaults menu
In a consortium environment the admin staff will often have to make changes to every library in its system. Having the option to view all the libraries in one page instead of 10 at a time. The addition of having the option to "open in a new tab" when right-clicking the Edit button under actions would be helpful as well to keep organized as the current system of going back to the Library Defaults page can sometimes cause confusion when navigating back to the next library.
