  3. Since some libraries in our consortium are fine free and others are not, patrons would like to know what library owns the item(s) they have checked out as to avoid unnecessary fines. Or they may simply like to return it to the owning library to save delivery work. Generally, it is good information to have visible to patrons.

  4. We have libraries complain that patron are confused due to the routing codes being present after the owning library in the Vega display (see screenshot).

    It would be great if we can somehow mask this, or add the locations to the translation file to get rid of this display.

  5. I have worked at my current library for close to 6 months now. I cannot begin to describe the number of times a patron tells me they do not understand Vega Discover, or how to find out where an item is shelved. The filled in large green check mark is too distracting and confusing to patrons. That is a complaint I have heard repeatedly. The small open not filled in check mark with the library name is not visible enough to patrons, nor is it super obvious it's a hyperlink to the call number.

  6. Please enable ProQuest database customers to seamlessly search their databases within Vega Discover without the need for creating placeholder bib record redirect links. The ultimate objective is to allow patrons to conduct searches for items such as historical newspaper titles and receive relevant search results from our catalog, along with direct links to ProQuest Historical Newspapers databases associated with their search queries.

    Third-party databases would also be fantastic but I'm sticking to Clarivate owned products for now.

  7. We've had a few questions from patrons regarding cancelled holds not displaying on Vega but showing up on their classic Polaris PAC account screen. We'd like this feature on Vega as well as possibly explore the option to allow patrons to resign back up for the holds queue from that same screen (much like you do with a suspended held item). Thanks!

  9. It would be great to have a way to filter a search by what is actually borrow-able for the user. For instance, I was looking into a request from one of our libraries about placing a hold on a radon testing kit and after bopping around for a few minutes I realized there doesn't seem to be a way to filter a search by what is actually borrow-able for the user, which makes for a frustrating user experience.

  10. When there are physical copies of the title available, the shelf location appears on the results page. However, if there are no physical copies on the shelf at any location, that shelf location is hidden and the user must click into a location in order to see the shelf location. It is inconvenient to have that information hidden on the front page.

  11. Ability to search the name of a showcase. (This is similar to a feature BiblioCore has where patrons can type "new dvds" and retrieve a pre-limited search results). So, this would enable libraries to create a showcase called New DVDs, and patrons would be able to easily find those materials.

To avoid potential patron confusion the ability to change the Vega website title from Welcome to Vega to something specific to your library when opening the Forgot My Passcode link would be helpful. For example, it might read "Library Name/Abbreviation Passcode Reset," which should eliminate any doubts about the nature of the webpage.

  13. Add the "You Saved" amounts (either this year or lifetime) to my account in Vega. We have this for patrons who checkout at staff station from Leap but sadly not available in our SIP connected Self Checks. Would be great to highlight this for patrons.

In the Classic catalog, when you view yor checkouts, the barcode is included (see https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46626907-add-the-item-barcode-to-the-checkouts-in-my-booksh) as is pertinent volume information. That information is not included when you view your checkout in Vega. We have multi-volume sets, magazine, etc., where this information would be helpful. We noticed this particularly when we set up a "dummy" ILL bib w/attached items (we don't have the Sierra ILL product, and our ILLs go through OCLC). Staff put details about the specific ILL in the attached item record, but Vega is only pulling the title from the bib, not the item volume information.

  16. When a patron is logged into Vega on their My Bookshelf profile, three options are displayed under location. We would like the ability to mask either Home Library or Registered Library Branch. Both options are usually the same for our patrons so we would like the ability to mask one of these options to avoid confusion. See the attached photo of the three current locations displayed when a patron is viewing their profiles in Vega.

  17. Our patrons who speak and read other languages need to be able to see our world language material records in their own language, including the 264 information, not just the title, author, and series. For Chinese materials, our users can distinguish Traditional Chinese materials from Simplified Chinese materials by checking the place of publication, and they can only do this if they can see that info in their language. As pictured in the screenshots, the old PAC shows the transliteration AND vernacular script, whereas Vega only shows the transliteration. Our users need to see both.

  18. When viewing holds, can it be more clear to patrons when they’re unclaimed? It currently doesn't show that the pickup date has passed or call it Unclaimed, it just says that they're "0 - Waiting".

  19. When an item is checked out through a third-party digital resource, like Overdrive/Libby, that is not included in our catalog it displays strangely. The list of digital items that aren't included in our catalog is extensive and forever increasing. I've included a screenshot of how it is displayed in the account records on Vega.

    It would be helpful if these items displayed in a way that was less confusing. Perhaps just simply calling it "Digital Item" would be fine.

  20. Improve the capabilities of the mini search feature that only looks at the patron's reading history. We've had patrons mention some minor odd things like being unable to find a work in their reading history when searching by the author's first name + last name (only last name + first name order works). Also, mixing keywords from the title and author fields or using keywords from the title out of sequence fail to return results.
