We would like there to be a 'fully supported' option to add a collection site dropdown list, not simply documentation to do it ourselves with the caveat that Innovative can't be responsible for whether or not it works. I've included a screenshot that shows how it actually doesn't work well on mobile, and we aren't able to do much about that. However, if there were a fully supported dropdown option, I think it's safe to assume it would be optimized for mobile use as well. This is what we would want.

  2. When staff create showcases and then are no longer with the library, there is no way the Admin can "take over" the showcase to maintain it. The only option is to delete the showcase and re-create it. Same with saved searches. If a reference librarian has created a saved search but leaves the library, search would have to be re-created.

  3. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).

  4. When an item is checked out through a third-party digital resource, like Overdrive/Libby, that is not included in our catalog it displays strangely. The list of digital items that aren't included in our catalog is extensive and forever increasing. I've included a screenshot of how it is displayed in the account records on Vega.

    It would be helpful if these items displayed in a way that was less confusing. Perhaps just simply calling it "Digital Item" would be fine.

  5. I have worked at my current library for close to 6 months now. I cannot begin to describe the number of times a patron tells me they do not understand Vega Discover, or how to find out where an item is shelved. The filled in large green check mark is too distracting and confusing to patrons. That is a complaint I have heard repeatedly. The small open not filled in check mark with the library name is not visible enough to patrons, nor is it super obvious it's a hyperlink to the call number.

  6. List all the movies/shows included on each disc in the set, so if a set doesn't have what a patron is looking for, we don't order it uselessly. Some items appear when you search for a specific title that is included, and some don't. Sometimes you can find the title in Sierra and sometimes you can't. Staff claim in Encore they were always able to see what which were included in these volumes/mega sets and they found it useful.

  7. Some patrons have difficulty understanding where to find their account details after logging in. For some, it is not intuitive to click on their names, or the numbers associated with the holds/checkouts/fines. Please add a few more prompts or cues to make it easier for patrons to access their accounts.

  8. Create a Staff User permission that allows staff users to do the following things for patrons

    Place Hold
    Renew
    Add a List
    Add a Saved Search
    Edit other Patron Data within reason

  9. Add a note in patron's transaction summary to indicate that a payment was made in Vega. For example, when a payment is made in the PAC a note is added to the patron's transaction summary indicating that the payment was made via PAC, as shown in the attached photo. Currently when a payment is made via Vega the note field is left blank not indicating how the payment was made. Ideally, the message should read "Payment made via Vega," but a note of some kind should be generated to indicate how a payment was made.

  10. Movies need to have clearer display of the actors, director, etc. when you go into the item record. Some movies have been remade and I currently have a lot of trouble locating the right movie for my patron when they tell me the year it was made and I can't even find that in the item record because it only tells me when that disc edition was made not when the movie itself was first made. I'll also get patrons who give me a title where there are several movies with that title and I currently can't even find a…

  11. In the Localization settings configuration page, all languages listed can be selected or unselected except for English (US). Although we can make a different one the default, for those countries wanting to have a different English option (CA in our case), we have no option but having two English languages listed in the drop down menu. We would like to be able to suppress the English (US) option.

  12. We were able to do this is Encore/WebPAC using scoping and the location codes. This is a critical feature that Vega is missing for Sierra customers, please bring this functionality back.

In the Classic catalog, when you view yor checkouts, the barcode is included (see https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46626907-add-the-item-barcode-to-the-checkouts-in-my-booksh) as is pertinent volume information. That information is not included when you view your checkout in Vega. We have multi-volume sets, magazine, etc., where this information would be helpful. We noticed this particularly when we set up a "dummy" ILL bib w/attached items (we don't have the Sierra ILL product, and our ILLs go through OCLC). Staff put details about the specific ILL in the attached item record, but Vega is only pulling the title from the bib, not the item volume information.

  14. Our customers don't think the 'i' information icon is a clickable thing. They think it just looks like a static image and assume there's no further information.

    We'd like to see the icon changed to something that looks more like a button or link.

  15. When a patron is logged into Vega on their My Bookshelf profile, three options are displayed under location. We would like the ability to mask either Home Library or Registered Library Branch. Both options are usually the same for our patrons so we would like the ability to mask one of these options to avoid confusion. See the attached photo of the three current locations displayed when a patron is viewing their profiles in Vega.

  16. So far, the only way we have of distinguishing materials in the catalog for our Chinese speakers that are written in Traditional Chinese vs. Simplified Chinese is by their place of publication. Titles published in mainland China (008 position 15-17 is "cc") are different from titles published in Taiwan (008 position 15-17 is "ch"). We would like to see place of publication added as a facet for this reason.

Our patrons who speak and read other languages need to be able to see our world language material records in their own language, including the 264 information, not just the title, author, and series. For Chinese materials, our users can distinguish Traditional Chinese materials from Simplified Chinese materials by checking the place of publication, and they can only do this if they can see that info in their language. As pictured in the screenshots, the old PAC shows the transliteration AND vernacular script, whereas Vega only shows the transliteration. Our users need to see both.

  18. We would like the option to hide the due date column, since it's not very reliable information. Our consortium has autorenew, so there is no guarantee the items will be returned on the date that displays to patrons, in fact it's rather unlikely given the rate at which our items autorenew.
