  1. Our staff would like the ability to add a description to Showcases, in addition to the detail described in the Showcase title. I've attached an example from another discovery layer.

  2. We generally prefer serial bibs for multi-volume graphic novels over individual bibs for each volume. Syndetics doesn't seem to understand this set-up. Only the first volume in the series is in color, while the other volumes (which are reflected as ISBNs in the serial bib, and as item records) are grayed-out. This is misleading to patrons. Syndetics should recognize our holdings from all the ISBNs in the bib record.

  3. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).

  4. We often re-use images for our Vega home page, specifically the Hero, and there is no way to quickly access those images - you are forced to upload again and again. For example, maybe we opt to promote/use one of our Hero images every 3 months for a particular service. When you go to promote that service again, you have to try and find the artwork you stored locally again, upload. It seems like this could be store somewhere, maybe make it optional when you upload to keep/store the file (so you could say "no" for something that is a…

  5. Further customize Hoopla integration to allow segmentation of collection content.

    Hoopla doesn't do Top 100s or Top 500s anymore as of January 2024. What they can do is "Top Load", which is popular titles across each format (about 85,000 records) and includes top DEI and non-English language titles.
    Libraries also want to segment to just Juvenile, just audiobooks, etc.

  6. Showcase cover art has the flexibility to expand and contract across various sizes, resulting in a challenging navigation experience when displaying these items. To enhance user experience, consider either enforcing a consistent display size for cover art or, at the very least, maintaining uniform sizes for all showcases.   7. the library would like patrons to be able to see patrons that are linked in Sierra. For instance, to allow a patron to renew their kids items under their Juvenile accounts, in bulk at once or flipping to that account view for renewing without re-logging in, or see and/or pay their fines, etc, because the accounts are linked in Sierra.

In the Location Drawer, there is a search box that offers the user a place to narrow the results based on call number, edition date, etc. When the user changes the location, the results update to the desired location and the search term(s) is retained in the search box, but the results don't reflect the inclusion of the search term. The user must click in the search box and manually re-execute the search. This is not intuitive at all.   9. I am requesting the development of a dedicated e-source target module in Vega to fully replace and improve upon the e-source linking functionality currently offered in Polaris and PowerPAC. To offer comprehensive e-source target capabilities in Vega that meet both current needs and future potential, I propose the following:

    Replicate Existing Polaris/PowerPAC Functionality
    - Add, edit, organize targets in Vega Admin
    - Set access restrictions and authentication parameters
    - Enable/disable link accessibility for in-house and remote users
    - Block access by patron code and IP address
    - Pass authentication data to target on click-through

  16. Grid View is soon to be launched. However, we have patrons who would prefer to have a 'text-like' view of search results, making it easy to browse quickly through what now represent pages and pages of results. Make it a customizable feature for patrons to be able to opt to view a textual results list. (perhaps this will also be easier for those requiring screen readers)

  17. In Vega Discover, when executing a passthrough search, the external link icon is used as a button. This UI is confusing to patrons, who are expecting the catalog name to be the link or looking for a button that looks more like the other buttons on the page.
    When the passthrough search only has one option, the option is a link, and that behavior is preferred. On the resource page, when there are more than one option, the external link icon appears, and the behavior is different.   18. It would be much more helpful for us if we saw the current default icons for each format type when we look at the "ILS Material Type to Work Level Roll Up Mapping" chart (see attached). We have no way of knowing what the "default" icon is for some of these formats, so we would have to do a search one by one in grid view to see what each format is by default.
