  1. A small handful of our libraries have reported issues copying barcodes and BibID's from Vega's lightbox and pasting into Sierra. Apparently irregular expressions like a new line can sometimes be selected and Sierra will not paste anything afterward; giving these staff members the impression that nothing copied over.

We've explained that they can double-click the text to select only it but it would be helpful if there was a dedicated copy to clipboard button next to these fields to minimize confusion.

An example implementation would be https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_copy_clipboard.asp

  2. Patrons should be able to pay their fines and fees through Comprise SmartPAY like they were able to with Polaris PowerPAC. Since we've implemented Vega Discover we had to have a link to our own SmartPAY portal where the patron is prompted to login with their barcode and password again in order to fetch their fines/fees prior to payment. These are extra steps that shouldn't really be required.

  3. Sierra (6.4+) has the ability to store a return date and to provide that date via Sierra API. Discover does not support this date. Please add it to Discover so patrons can see their return dates. This would help with finding or remembering specific resources, plus patrons like seeing information about their histories and library habits.

  5. Currently, when there are no remaining items on a bib record, Discover shows the status of that title as "On Order," when in reality, it just needs to go through a variety of processes before it is suppressed or deleted from the catalog. The "On Order" status should only appear if there is an open order in Sierra for that title.

  6. The update to the account portal for City/State/Postalcode being text entry allows patrons to make these entries anything. These create new entries in the the Postalcode table, making it very messy (Made up cities/states/postcodes or incorrectly spelt, ect). These new entries then show from the drop down when patrons join online compounding the issue if new patrons choose the incorrect one. Example from our system using the State: NSW not the full text state New South Wales. Someone has created a New South Wales entry and other patrons have joined selecting it.

  7. Hello,
Vega Discover administrators need a way to identify the software version.
Why? I find that the upgrade schedule is not always accurate. We are in North America and the upgrade can be delayed by a day, or happens during the middle of the expected day. It would be helpful to have a version stamp somewhere on the site or admin site to help administrators know when they can begin testing the new features.

  8. Some patrons have reported they would like more options for the "results per page" when searching -- specifically, an option for 100. The PAC gave options up to 100, but Vega Discover only gives options up to 40 per page.

  9. With the buttons on the left-hand side (Overview, Account, Checkouts & Requests, Bills & Fines, Bookmarks, Saved Searches), some of them do not provide easy navigation back to the start once you are within that area. For example, I click on Bookmarks and it takes me to the list of my lists. But if I then click into one of the lists, clicking that button doesn't take me back out to all my lists. There is a breadcrumb navigation trail at the top, which is good, but I would also expect the button on the side to take me back…

  10. We'd like to suggest the addition of a free-text note field available at the bib-level that would display on the resource card in Vega Discover. Our consortium is looking for solutions that would help patrons quickly and easily identify whether a title includes AI-generated content. A free-text note field that is not linked to the bibliographic record that displays in Vega would allow us to do so. This field could be used in a variety of scenarios to alert patrons to necessary information at the bibliographic record level rather than at the item level, especially since many 5XX tags are…

  11. Introduce an “Author” sort and filter option for items in the Account Portal Overview, specifically for:
    • Current checkouts
    • Active holds
    • Reading history
This would allow patrons to group and manage their library items more intuitively, especially when they manage multiple accounts and items.

  12. When there is a volume field in the item record, show all editions automatically, so that patrons can easily view all options without taking additional steps.

Right now, when patrons first view the Vega record, they must click "Find a Specific Edition," and then the down arrow, in order to see all editions held in the collection.

  13. Now that the thumbnail updates based on which tab of the roll-up is selected, if the thumbnail does not exist for that item type, it should display the image that does exist. For example, if the thumbnail exists for the book, but not for the audiobook, when you click on the audiobook tab, the thumbnail should display the book rather than displaying a generic blank image.

  14. Implement a new function or API endpoint that allows libraries to easily retrieve the structured data (metadata, ID/ISBN, image URL, link) for any active "Showcase". The data should be presented in a standard, machine-readable format like JSON or XML.

While Vega Discover allows us to embed the visual display of a Showcase on other websites, this does not give us the underlying data. This data could be used to include Showcases i mobile apps and integrate with other systems and external analytics tools. They could also be used by patrons to easily keep track of new additions to "permanent" showcases.

  15. When you navigate to another page in Vega Discover, we're seeing some confusion with users on how to perform a new search. We wondered if it would be helpful to have the word "Search" underneath the magnifying glass icon in the top right hand corner of the page.

  16. When placing a hold on a title with multiple volumes, a screen pops up asking "Which Volume/Issue Would You Like To Request?". The volumes are then sorted by digit rather than numerically. So, for example, Vega Discover sorts as follows:

    12
    11
    109
    108
    107
    106
    105
    104
    103
    102
    101
    100
    10
    1

    (see attached screenshot for example)

This makes it more difficult for the patron to go right to the volume they would like to request.

It would be better to sort numerically:

    103
    102
    101
    100
    99
    98
    97
    96
    95

  17. Our library serves a very diverse patron base, and, while some commonly spoken languages are represented in Vega already, there are a few missing that we'd love to see added to better represent our demographics, if possible. The languages are Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Tagalog, and Portuguese. I see someone else here has already requested Arabic and Urdu, so hopefully this helps too!

  18. It would be nice if adult books (even those with relatively low reading levels) returned Reading Level readalikes of other adult books (rather than j titles). James Patterson's "The House of Kennedy" is an adult title, Vega indicates that the publisher's recommended age and grade range is 18+ years, yet the reading level suggestions include Dog Man/Pilkey and the Good Egg/Jory John

  20. Sort order of attached items should match the sort order in Sierra. Series can then display is order by volume not by date published which results in displaying the last volume first.
