Overdrive eContent integration in Vega Discover should work if libraries use SIP2 (barcode + PIN) for Overdrive patron authentication
Libraries that use SIP2 (requiring barcode and PIN) for Overdrive authentication have found that eContent Integration with Overdrive fails when enabled in Vega Discover. Customers cannot borrow or reserve Overdrive titles directly from Vega because Overdrive requires both barcode and PIN for the checkout process, and Vega Discover cannot send the Patron's PIN (it is encrypted in Sierra and not available to send).
Admittedly, expecting Vega to send encrypted patron PINs to Overdrive when the patron is already authenticated in Vega is an unrealistic and unsafe idea. Innovative support have already said that this issue is primarily a limitation of…9 votes -
Select which titles display on a showcase carousel or collage
We've always used static image collages that mimic Vega's showcase carousels on our Vega Discover homepages. This approach helps us maintain a consistent visual style, especially when cover jackets occasionally appear that don’t match the look and feel we want to present in our catalog. Ideally, we’d love a way to feature specific titles in carousels—with the ability for them to drop off automatically once they're no longer relevant—while still ensuring the layout stays cohesive. Items with different content shouldn't be incorrectly combined into work displays
This is related to the suggestion "All metadata and content displayed for a work should use the same instance ISBN", but more specifically I'm seeing a problem with movies with different release years, but the same title (and same DVD publisher).
I can see this making sense for certain things - for example a book like The Grapes of Wrath, which we have several different editions of. The text is basically the same - there may be different forewords or other supplementary material, but for the most part it's less likely that a patron will be choosy about which edition…

Disable No Preference Selected in Patron's Setting
When staff members create a patron account in Polaris, our default notification preference is email. We'd like the ability to disable or hide the "No preference selected" option from Discover so patrons are forced to select one of our supported notification methods.

Add COPPA to patron registration
Currently when someone applies through our Vega link (which goes to PowerPAC) for a library card and their name matches an existing cardholder, they get the following error message: "A patron with this name is already registered. Please contact the library for clarification."
It would be helpful if other fields could be cross-checked for duplicates, not just the first and last names. We receive numerous reports of this monthly from staff across the consortium, but we have no sense of how often it's actually happening.9 votes -
Maintain authentication across collection sites
A patron that has signed in on the main Vega site or any collection site should remain signed in when linking to another collection site (unless the library has specifically limited sign in to an individual site). Currently, when an authenticated patron clicks to view another collection site, they lose their authentication. Patrons are not aware that they are on a completely separate site and are then confused when clicking on "My Bookshelf" does nothing. Improve Hero carousel scheduling
It is great to have the ability to schedule content for Vega Home Page. This could be even better if scheduling for Hero Carousel elements was more flexible. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to schedule individual Hero images to be added and removed from the carousel independently.
I would like to be able to schedule the hero block to display always (or for a defined period) and then assign dates for different images included to be added and removed within it independently.

Right-click on covers to open in a new tab
When looking at an item record in Vega Discover, patrons should be able to right click on titles to open in a new tab (e.g., in the list of You May Also Like, Related Resources, Topics, etc.). Right now, patrons have to click on the title to open the record, see if we have it and where it's located. If they want to look at another title, they have to use the back button then wait for the page to refresh again, scroll down, and repeat.

Custom domain forwarding shown on Vega Discover sites configuration page
We would like the ability to see our custom domain links directly on the Vega Sites configuration page. While we understand that adding new custom domain links may not be within our control, it would be extremely helpful to have the existing reference links displayed on this page. Currently, we rely on memory and archived emails between support staff to track these links, but having them visible within the configuration page would provide a more streamlined and efficient experience. Option to exclude frozen holds from total holds queue in catalogue
Libraries should have the option to exclude frozen holds from the total holds queue that appears in any catalogue.
Benefits:
1) Customers will have a better idea of where they are in the hold queue.
We encourage customer-driven hold management, and customers have told us that they want an estimate of when their holds will be filled.
This is especially true when customers place multiple hold on titles within a series.2) Customers will not see inflated hold queues and provide feedback to the Library that they should purchase more copies.

Display 856 links in search results view when focused on the applicable format tab
When 856 links exist, display them when the appropriate tab is selected in the roll-up within search results. Currently, the links only display on the format tab after you open the title resource page.

Navigation Between Collection Sites
Libraries with multiple collection sites want patrons to move easily from one site to another. For example, moving from the Local History Collection site to the main site, or from the Main site to the Kid's Catalog. In a consortium, patrons often want to check neighboring libraries to see if an item is available on the shelf. The current passthrough search works well for moving from a collection site to the full catalog, but it does not work for moving between multiple collection sites. Duplicate ILS in Vega Preview
Vega Discover Preview needs to be a functional copy of our existing PAC to allow for discussion and implementation of new features, functionality, etc. While ideally the site would connect to our ILS, we at least need to be able to recreate customer account information such as items checked out, holds, fines and fees, etc. In the next release, there are changes to the fines and fee layout, which we cannot preview because we cannot add fees to the fake accounts. Auto expand item details
We're finding a lot of patrons don't notice the down arrow beside each edition to view item details, which is preventing them from finding shelfmarks or the location of items. We'd like if there was a setting to always auto expand all item details, or a button at the top of the edition tab (beside the edition search bar?) to expand all item details with text that we could edit to draw patron attention to it.

Move "Details" button from item level to bib level
When you search for an item the button for bibliographic-level information is next to the item. So, when you click "details" to see more details on the available items (whether with branches or the status of specific items) it opens the sidebar with bibliographic information, and to find item-level information you have to use the down arrow instead. Would it be possible to move the "Details" button up next to the "Find specific edition" button to clarify the hierarchy a bit more? Moving the button would make the arrow more obvious. Or perhaps creating a button instead of the arrow…

Ability to suppress "Send additional Text Message Notification"
Our consortium does not have the text message option for patrons, but Vega Discover has a checkbox in the patron Account section for "Send additional Text Message Notification" that we cannot remove. This is very confusing for patrons (and staff). We should have the ability to remove this text and the associated checkbox.

Availability filtering in bookmarks
Searching by Location + Availability should only show things that are currently available at that location and not items that are assigned not available at that location, but available elsewhere.
By not limiting the location search, it makes it less useful for our patrons who are trying to search for things that are available at specific branches.

Geolocation authentication for Vega's patron registration
We would like to see Vega's patron registration to include geolocation authentication so we can limit patron registration to only those residing in NYS, and potentially just our service area.

Patron registration for Sierra libraries: option to include additional fields to registration process
In a recent demo (July 2026) we saw that Polaris libraries can configure additional patron variable/fixed fields to display OR hide in the registration process. This would benefit Sierra libraries as well.
We are used to adding online registrations with a template of various fields that are not included in the current registration.
