  2. It would be much more helpful for us if we saw the current default icons for each format type when we look at the "ILS Material Type to Work Level Roll Up Mapping" chart (see attached). We have no way of knowing what the "default" icon is for some of these formats, so we would have to do a search one by one in grid view to see what each format is by default.   3. When a specific branch has been selected, automatically show item information (location, call number etc.) beneath items located at the selected branch in search results so that no additional click is necessary to see call number, etc.

  4. Integrate into Vega the capability for patrons to create their own notifications using advanced search filtering. For example, patrons could choose to receive a text through IPA:SMS whenever a specific author releases new material at our library. Additionally, they could opt to receive a weekly email with a predefined search filter, such as Availability (At Library), Format (Book), Collection (Adult Non-Fiction), New Material (This week), focusing on the topic "Nature".

  5. Our libraries do not use the Always Show a Call Number Option. We only want a call number to display if it's the expected library for the patron. Because of this the Find a Copy link does not always appear if only a few libraries have the item. We would like it to show consistently as removing it creates an extra step & an inconsistent experience when browsing. Clicking on "Find a copy" is helpful even if only a few libraries have the item since it pulls up the whole list of libraries that own the item and doing so…

  7. This will help staff let patrons know where the notice will be sent when placing a hold on their behalf. It will also show patrons where to expect the notice to be sent to when they place holds.

Currently if a copy isn't available at the pickup location of any edition in a multi-edition rollup in Vega Discover, the holds logic dictates that it will look next for any edition with a copy available at the patron's home library, then for the edition with the most available copies, then if no copies are available, for the edition with the best holds:copies ratio.

    The libraries with branches in our consortium would like the holds logic to look at availability of editions at their BRANCHES next if the pickup library has branches but doesn't own any editions themself. Also, they…

  9. We noticed that Discover users focus on the “On the shelf” list and miss “Find a Copy”. We would like to submit a feature request to have “Find a Copy” more prominently displayed. The three ways to do this in order of preference:

    1. Above “On the shelf” reversing the two locations + larger icon and font
    2. Next to “On the shelf” so both are on the same line + larger icon and font
    3. Larger icon and font where it currently resides on the page

  10. We generally prefer serial bibs for multi-volume graphic novels over individual bibs for each volume. Syndetics doesn't seem to understand this set-up. Only the first volume in the series is in color, while the other volumes (which are reflected as ISBNs in the serial bib, and as item records) are grayed-out. This is misleading to patrons. Syndetics should recognize our holdings from all the ISBNs in the bib record.

In Encore, we could leverage scopes we had created in Sierra to create a quick way to search a group of nearby libraries-for instance, Quad Cities area libraries, Rockford area libraries, Henry County libraries, etc. In Vega, there is no quick way to do this. It would be great to have a way to create location groups in specific collection sites so that patrons can have this "shortcut" available to them again.

  12. We often re-use images for our Vega home page, specifically the Hero, and there is no way to quickly access those images - you are forced to upload again and again. For example, maybe we opt to promote/use one of our Hero images every 3 months for a particular service. When you go to promote that service again, you have to try and find the artwork you stored locally again, upload.   13. Showcase cover art has the flexibility to expand and contract across various sizes, resulting in a challenging navigation experience when displaying these items. To enhance user experience, consider either enforcing a consistent display size for cover art or, at the very least, maintaining uniform sizes for all showcases. It would be very helpful for staff when assisting patrons searching for materials in other languages if the 240 field with the original title in English was also displayed in the brief search results so the staffer could easily and quickly identify the title in English that the patron is searching for in the other language.

The link to Español is visible only after user clicks English (but why click “English” if the page is already in English?) This would allow the patron to do a search for something like "cake pans", for example, and have the results come up in the catalog if it was listed in the library of things collection in either LibCal's Tickets & Passes module or Lending Key. Similarly, a search for "botanical gardens" could bring up a record for the museum pass that was in the collection in the LibCal's Tickets & Passes module or Museum Key. Then the patron could reserve the pass or item directly from the catalog.

  20. For Collection Sites it would be useful to be able to set a default location to display the hours information from like you do at the consortia level.

    Currently it uses the consortia default when a patron is not logged in.
