  1. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  3. Integrate into Vega the capability for patrons to create their own notifications using advanced search filtering. For example, patrons could choose to receive a text through IPA:SMS whenever a specific author releases new material at our library. Additionally, they could opt to receive a weekly email with a predefined search filter, such as Availability (At Library), Format (Book), Collection (Adult Non-Fiction), New Material (This week), focusing on the topic "Nature".

  4. We would like the brief availability to be more specific than it is, similar to the way the PAC is in the brief display (see screenshots). It should have specific numbers rather than say "one or more locations". If it can't be displayed in that spot, then it should be displayed below the Place Hold button where it lists the number of holds and copies.

  5. Just like the facets column can be suppressed once you have set your search filters. The header should be the same way. It would be nice to be able to hide it once a patron is logged in & no longer needs it as it take up some screen real estate.

This idea came from a journey mapping exercise at IUG - a non-card holder attempts to use the library for the first time, makes their way to a library website, uses the search box to find an item, and locates it in the results. They select the Get It / Place Hold button and are presented with a request to log in. With no card, they're at an impasse. Currently if a copy isn't available at the pickup location of any edition in a multi-edition rollup in Vega Discover, the holds logic dictates that it will look next for any edition with a copy available at the patron's home library, then for the edition with the most available copies, then if no copies are available, for the edition with the best holds:copies ratio.

    The libraries with branches in our consortium would like the holds logic to look at availability of editions at their BRANCHES next if the pickup library has branches but doesn't own any editions themself. Also, they…

  8. In the current PAC if you do a series search for an author, you get results for titles in series by that author. The same doesn't happen in Vega Discover since 800 $a isn't indexed and only $t is indexed. We would like $a indexed as well.

  9. Libraries should have the option to exclude frozen holds from the total holds queue that appears in any catalogue.

    Benefits:

    1) Customers will have a better idea of where they are in the hold queue.
    We encourage customer-driven hold management, and customers have told us that they want an estimate of when their holds will be filled.
    This is especially true when customers place multiple hold on titles within a series.

    2) Customers will not see inflated hold queues and provide feedback to the Library that they should purchase more copies.

In Encore, we could leverage scopes we had created in Sierra to create a quick way to search a group of nearby libraries-for instance, Quad Cities area libraries, Rockford area libraries, Henry County libraries, etc. In Vega, there is no quick way to do this. It would be great to have a way to create location groups in specific collection sites so that patrons can have this "shortcut" available to them again.

  11. When trying to export a bookmarked list to your email, it doesn't actually export anything to your email. Instead, you're sent a link that just takes you back to your bookmark list in Vega.

    It would be helpful to have Vega actually export a text-based list to your email. Example in the picture is of the email you receive with the link back to Vega.

  12. I would really love to see the Baker and Taylor "Boundless" interface refined. Talking to reps from B and T, it appears that the API is currently able to pass credentials, however in Vega you have to log into the B and T site to retrieve items. It would be more seamless and less confusing for patrons to at least authenticate them on the site when checking "get item" from Vega. Eventually, a tight integration like what we have with Overdrive would be awesome.

  15. We currently have Overdrive content as records in our catalog and thus the API integration to Overdrive is not being used for the records. We'd like to continue to have those records in our catalog so staff and patrons can search in other places (Leap, PowerPAC, Innovative Mobile App etc) but be able to exclude them from Vega extraction so the API can be used instead.

  16. We would like the Sierra pop-up messages to show in the patron account in Vega. We use these messages to communicate with customers. As much of our services are now self-service, we need a way to communicate with them as they don't come to the desk.

  17. Patrons are finding it less intutive to delete items from their saved lists with the "Remove from List" link almost hidden in the very top right corner of the screen.

    Each item in a saved list has a box around the image, the share button and select button are there. We also think the delete button, perhaps as garbage can icon, should be there as well.

    (The "Remove From List" button can still be in the top right, if multiple items are selected, but for one-off deletions it should be easier and more clear how to do it).

  18. We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

  19. Change the position of passthrough source links to a row below "## results found for {keyword}".

    The current position of the findFrom text and passthrough source links does not leave much space for more than a few words. The responsive behavior of the findFrom text is to disappear on small screens. This makes it difficult to convey the purpose of the passthrough source link. If the link has an entire row there will be adequate space for descriptive text on all devices.

  20. Many libraries host weekly or monthly events, it would be helpful to have a reoccurring event block option in the Homepage Builder instead of having to input a date/time for each individual event.
