  1. For Collection Sites it would be useful to be able to set a default location to display the hours information from like you do at the consortia level.

Currently it uses the consortia default when a patron is not logged in.

  2. If the patron logs into a patron site that isn't their preferred or home library, give them the choice to be redirected to that site.

A choice would be preferred, since a patron may be logging in to complete a check out or list save against a collection site they do have access to, so we do not want to interrupt their experience unnecessarily.

  3. We currently have Overdrive content as records in our catalog and thus the API integration to Overdrive is not being used for the records. We'd like to continue to have those records in our catalog so staff and patrons can search in other places (Leap, PowerPAC, Innovative Mobile App etc) but be able to exclude them from Vega extraction so the API can be used instead.

  5. We would like the Sierra pop-up messages to show in the patron account in Vega. We use these messages to communicate with customers. As much of our services are now self-service, we need a way to communicate with them as they don't come to the desk.

  6. Currently Vega displays the series information using the 490 field from the MARC record on certain titles which can cause confusion considering that the 800/830 fields can provide a better, more complete description for the series. For example, attached are screenshots from the PAC of two different versions of Spy Camp where one is the novel version and the other is the graphic novel, which is clear there. However, due to the 800/830 field not being used for the series in Vega, and the 490 field being the same for each (since the displayed series on both items is the…

  7. In a consortium environment the admin staff will often have to make changes to every library in its system. Having the option to view all the libraries in one page instead of 10 at a time. The addition of having the option to "open in a new tab" when right-clicking the Edit button under actions would be helpful as well to keep organized as the current system of going back to the Library Defaults page can sometimes cause confusion when navigating back to the next library.

  8. Request:
Allow libraries to choose how dates display throughout Vega Discover with options for:
    MMDDYYYY
    DDMMYYYY
    YYYYMMDD
    YYYYDDMM

    Original Request:
Right now in edition information the due date is formatted YYYY-MM-DD. Can you format it MM-DD-YYYY instead?

  9. Currently when someone applies through our Vega link (which goes to PowerPAC) for a library card and their name matches an existing cardholder, they get the following error message: "A patron with this name is already registered. Please contact the library for clarification."

It would be helpful if other fields could be cross-checked for duplicates, not just the first and last names. We receive numerous reports of this monthly from staff across the consortium, but we have no sense of how often it's actually happening.

  10. Allow patrons to search results based on Polaris items' loan period codes.

This will also allow Vega showcases to be created for popular items with unique loan periods.

  11. Currently there are two options for passthrough sources, one to display for everything and the other to display for unavailable titles. We would like an option to display for only items not found. Our policies are that for new titles holds cannot be placed outside of our consortia for 6 months and if the option for a passthrough source was displayed, the request would be rejected. Displaying the option allows for an unrealistic expectation for the patron that they can get the material from elsewhere.

  13. It is great to have the ability to schedule content for Vega Home Page. This could be even better if scheduling for Hero Carousel elements was more flexible. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to schedule individual Hero images to be added and removed from the carousel independently.

I would like to be able to schedule the hero block to display always (or for a defined period) and then assign dates for different images included to be added and removed within it independently.

If that isn't possible, please add the ability to copy/clone a hero carousel so that…

  14. Currently the alt text that is added to showcases (specifically on the Image Panels option in Showcase Groups) is not detailed enough. It would be helpful for accessibility needs to be able to include our own alternate text for custom uploaded images.

  15. When patrons are deleting anything from reading history a pop-up window will notify them that (currently) their entire history will be deleted: "Are you sure you want to delete your entire reading history?" And if individual title deleting becomes a possibility: "are you sure you want to delete this(these) titles?"

  16. When looking at an item record in Vega Discover, patrons should be able to right click on titles to open in a new tab (e.g., in the list of You May Also Like, Related Resources, Topics, etc.). Right now, patrons have to click on the title to open the record, see if we have it and where it's located. If they want to look at another title, they have to use the back button then wait for the page to refresh again, scroll down, and repeat.

  17. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  18. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

Ideally, your selections should be maintained across…

  19. We would like to see the subfield q of the 020 field displayed next to the ISBN so users can tell which material types are included in a record. This was visible in the old PAC within the Full Display view (attached).

  20. In the search bar, if someone types a query and their mouse happens to be below the search bar, when they press enter, it performs the search based on the suggested title or concept that was where the mouse was positioned. This unwanted autocompleting has confused me and others, and I've only just deduced the cause (I think). Most search engines don't do this behaviour, so people don't even think to consider the position of their mouse when typing a search into a search box. It has caused frustration for our librarians and patrons.
