  3. Improve Vega's page loading performance on devices and allow patrons to view the complete results lists easily by removing the page links and adding Lazy Loading or Load More option. Patrons' current web experience is a continuous scroll with content loading. This enhancement maintains that experience.

  6. Please add the author details to the holds lists (as it appears in the circ history list). I see many ideas about sorting holds and current checkouts by author, so I thought I would include the obvious, and ask that the author display for both lists. It does appear for circ history, and customers need this to manage their circulation.

  7. We have both Hoopla Flex titles and Hoopla Instant titles. We're using the Hoopla ingest, but it doesn't include records from our growing Hoopla Flex collection. Our cataloging team has been looking at manually loading Hoopla Flex MARC records into our ILS. We had previously stopped manually loading eContent records even prior to purchasing Discover simply because it is so often a losing battle to keep records in sync. We'd be made whole if we could receive all of our Hoopla records through the ingest. Previously, we were waiting for Hoopla to update their API, but I’ve been informed by…

  8. Discover's hold management button offers the option to 'freeze' a hold when an item has already been trapped and held for the hold request. Our ILS (Polaris) does not offer the option to freeze holds when a hold is already in held status, so this will always fail. The default error message the patron gets is "Freeze failed. Try again." That message is misleading because trying again will never work. However, the language string is used for ANY failed freeze, so if you edit it, you have to edit it to something clunky like "Freeze failed. Item may be in…

  9. When a paperback and a hardcover are rolled up together, Vega seems to default to the paperback information, which is less robust, as we do very minimal cataloging on those. There is no synopsis on the detailed page. In the old catalog, having no summary for a paperback wasn't a huge deal because the annotations gave you enough information. But in Vega, you get nothing at all unless you click on the ebook. Prioritizing the records, or pulling the 520 from any of the rolled up records would be super helpful.

  10. When choosing to sort a list under My Bookshelf (Checkouts, Holds, Reading History), initial articles and punctuation at the beginning of the title (such as quotation marks) are not ignored when sorting alphabetically by title. Could this be changed so that sorting alphabetically by title will follow the MARC record's 245 second indicator, which gives instruction on how many spaces to ignore when filing alphabetically (e.g., 245 second indicator of 4 would be used when "The " is at the beginning of a title)?

  11. When multiple copies of an item are assigned to the same library branch, the location drawer appears to list them in order of item record ID within the same location (this is also the case in our classic Polaris PAC, not sure how it is in Sierra). We have had feedback from front-line staff that they would like to see copies in Available status listed first, with copies in other statuses listed below. This reasoning makes a lot of sense to me. If a patron is opening the location drawer, it's because they want to know where the item is…

  12. Polaris (Leap and PAC) support the ability for a patron to opt to receive both an email AND text message or a phone call AND text message using the "additional text" checkbox feature. However, Vega only supports patrons selecting a single preferred notification method.

Patrons often opt in to dual notifications at registration, but their Discover profile won't reflect the notifications they actually will receive. This is likely to create confusion and frustration for patrons as well as limiting the use of a valuable Polaris feature.

  13. Staff use the catalog to pull materials for displays and storytimes, and sorting by author or title doesn't do them any good when looking in Non-Fiction, or when looking across multiple collections. For example, if they were looking for display items for Dragons they are going to be possibly in a few different Dewey numbers as well as in all the subsets of fiction, so running a search and being able to sort by call number would help them find the items as efficiently as possible.

  14. We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

  15. Change the position of passthrough source links to a row below "## results found for {keyword}".

The current position of the findFrom text and passthrough source links does not leave much space for more than a few words. The responsive behavior of the findFrom text is to disappear on small screens. This makes it difficult to convey the purpose of the passthrough source link. If the link has an entire row there will be adequate space for descriptive text on all devices.

The screenshot shows the desired position.

  16. For Hero Carousels, when you add a showcase there's no option to display the showcase title. Having just the image doesn't give context for patrons to know what that leads them to. We would like the option to include the showcase title with each picture.

  17. Request:
Allow libraries to choose how dates display throughout Vega Discover with options for:
    MMDDYYYY
    DDMMYYYY
    YYYYMMDD
    YYYYDDMM

    Original Request:
Right now in edition information the due date is formatted YYYY-MM-DD. Can you format it MM-DD-YYYY instead?

  19. When looking at records in our catalog that have non-Roman vernacular script included in the 880 fields, it does not appear in the order in which it would best serve our patrons. I have included screenshots to illustrate how we purposely have the original language/vernacular script displaying in the 245 field so that it displays in the Title in brief results lists, and on the receipt and notices when patrons check items out for optimal patron service. However, despite our efforts, the transliteration is appearing foremost in search results in Vega instead of the original language/vernacular script, which is not…

  20. I received the following from a school superintendent in our service area, and I think this would be a beneficial enhancement to Vega for students and school staff:

We store the Lexile level in our local student information system. This means that pretty easily, we could show the parents their kid's level, then link to the two local library districts with some instructions on how to filter and search. But as I shared, they still have to do a lot of clicking to get to that screen where they can filter on level and subject.

    So what would the ideal…
