  1. In a consortium, the default is the name of the account of the consortium. This is confusing because the consortium name might be the name or nickname of a single library in the consortium. Patrons do not recognize the email address (no-reply@iiivega.com) or library name listed (Bett). Ability to customize the message would allow each library to use their own branded name.

  3. We leverage the standard Vega showcases on our website (https://www.rhpl.org) but the Vega Homepage showcases offer better visibility. Please allow us to use these throughout our organization.

  4. Some of our patrons, those who are teachers or book club leaders, for example, borrow multiple copies of the same title on their library account. They need to control the return of such materials and do so by barcode. Unfortunately, Vega Discover doesn't display the item barcode in the Checkouts information in My Bookshelf. Please add the item barcode# to the Checkouts data in My Bookshelf.

  5. We have a number of different staff creating and updating Showcases across our system. Currently, it is getting difficult to manage this as staff are beginning to duplicate each other's work and it is difficult to know which showcases are current and which are scheduled or embedded somewhere. When adding Showcases to Vega Homepage, it is impossible to distinguish between two showcases with the same name since no details display other than the title in the home page editor.

Please consider adding some features to improve showcase maintenance and management:

    • ability to add a staff note to a showcase which…

  6. Currently, addresses in the Library Info widget wrap text, as opposed to having line breaks like a proper address. I.e. in the images, the one labelled "Carbon edit" is how we want it to show up, but it shows up as seen in "Carbon widget". Additionally, words are also wrapping when they shouldn't be in other areas, as seen in the image of "Keg River widget". We would like this to display in the same way that it looks in the editor.

  7. We would like the checkout summary in Discover to have a call number column like it does in the PAC. Some libraries use the call number to store information for linked uncataloged items. Please see the two attached examples.

  8. It would be nice to have the ability to export all the bibliographic record numbers in a rollup instead of having to click on the details for each individual record included in a rollup. This practice makes it very tedious to sort out incorrect rollups especially when there can be up to 20+ records on a single tab.

  9. Super frustrating to not be able to create a book list for displays or patrons needing a large amount of materials on a certain subject, and also not being able to easily print the list with the call number included. If there is an easier way to do this, please help me out: leticiag@harvard-diggins.org

  10. Currently, when a user gets to the end of the configured images, they have to use the back arrow. It would be a better user experience if the hero carousel navigated to the first image.

  11. The 008 is the field we would prefer to use for the language facet and no other field. The 008 only field is consistently used in all our records. We stopped using the 240 fields in bib records, because that caused problems in Vega. The only time we use the 041 is when a title is bilingual. It would be a huge amount of work to update all our bib records. It is complicated how it currently works, and search results are confusing.

  12. Vega should have controls when generating showcase code that allows the librarian to change the look and feel of the showcase and have the generated code include these customizations.

This idea was born when our web team asked if it was possible to remove the author name from a Showcase when embedding it into our website. Other libraries might want to remove title and author and just show jacket covers. Any ability to customize the look of the Showcase that is embedded would be awesome.

  13. Currently, when viewing a roll-up that has no cover image, the format text stays the same regardless of which tab you click on. This results in, for example, the cover still saying Emagazine when you click on the Periodical tab (examples attached). If the image could update and say Periodical when you click on the Periodical tab, this would be less confusing for patrons.

  14. We are still at the stage where we have to request search statistics, and the data is somewhat limited in nature:

Currently, the two types of statistical overviews available are:

    1. A count of all visits* to any page over the desired time period.

    2. A count of all visits* to search results that were done over the desired time period.

*The reports don't call them visits; they are called visitors. No idea if they are unique visitors?

There are pageviews (down in lower right of screen shot) but support staff doesn't always include this information, seem to focus on just sending…

  15. We would like more automated showcase displays like the NYT Bestsellers. Since we are in Canada, we specifically would like to see the Globe & Mail Bestsellers as an option.

  16. We've received several tickets from our member libraries reporting that patrons' bookmarked items aren't being saved. It seems this happens because patrons are bookmarking items while logged out. Although Vega does display a warning that users need to log in to save bookmarks, we believe user errors could be minimized if the option to bookmark items were only available after confirming the user is logged in.

  17. We are part of a consortium and have an enhancement request, specifically for our hoopla integration. Currently, we have to choose 1 library ID for title ingestion (Solano) and can choose a separate library ID for circulation (St Helena, for example). We choose the least restrictive library catalog to ingest all titles and then circulate based on the individual library. This causes patrons to be able to see titles that are in fact unavailable to them/not borrowable at their individual member library. This isn’t the ideal patron experience, so we would like to propose the following: we would like the…

  19. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)
