  1. In the account portal the 3rd option on the left includes Checkouts & Holds & Reading History. There is not enough space for those 3 terms. The text will not wrap. If the text cannot wrap, can we have a separate option for "Reading History". We have had many customers ask if that could be on a separate page.

  2. Add a note in patron's transaction summary to indicate that a payment was made in Vega. For example, when a payment is made in the PAC a note is added to the patron's transaction summary indicating that the payment was made via PAC, as shown in the attached photo. Currently when a payment is made via Vega the note field is left blank not indicating how the payment was made. Ideally, the message should read "Payment made via Vega," but a note of some kind should be generated to indicate how a payment was made.

To avoid potential patron confusion the ability to change the Vega website title from Welcome to Vega to something specific to your library when opening the Forgot My Passcode link would be helpful. For example, it might read "Library Name/Abbreviation Passcode Reset," which should eliminate any doubts about the nature of the webpage.

  4. To manage staff accounts across a consortium, we need to be able to associate users with each other by library. It would be very useful to have a piece of metadata for staff accounts that identifies which library(ies) they work for.

    This would:
    1. Make it easier to filter users when looking at the long list of all users.
    2. Let people have control over the showcases created by others in their organization but not the entire system - currently, we can't let librarians publish their own showcases because we don't want them to have consortia-level control to all showcases.…

  5. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).

  6. Some customers only want hold pickup notifications. Others want hold pickup and overdue but not courtesy notices. I believe the fact that notices are all or nothing is a BIG reason why our emails get marked as spam. Please allow patrons to select which notices they receive. Even better, allow staff to decide if a notice is optional. For example, we understand if patrons don't want courtesy notices, but we will always send a bill becasue their borrowing privileges are blocked by then.

  7. We've had a few questions from patrons regarding cancelled holds not displaying on Vega but showing up on their classic Polaris PAC account screen. We'd like this feature on Vega as well as possibly explore the option to allow patrons to resign back up for the holds queue from that same screen (much like you do with a suspended held item).   10. We have complaints about the Account View in the Account portal showing patron personal info at the top of the screen that cannot be minimized. Customers who login to place holds in the library using our catalog kiosks are particularly upset by this data displaying. It really pertains to anyone who would like privacy on their screen while using Vega. Please put the personal information for the patron behind an edit or view action or tab. The information is so large it is easily seen by anyone walking by. This is big for us for patron privacy.

In Vega Discover, Concepts are currently generated separately for each instance of subject metadata drawn from fields such as 648, 650, 653 etc, including distinctions based on indicators and thesaurus codes (e.g., LCSH, FAST, local/uncontrolled terms). As a result, identical subject headings can appear multiple times as distinct Concepts, even though the visible label is the same. This leads to unnecessary duplication and forces patrons to choose between several identical facet values, creating confusion and reducing the usefulness of the facet.

    It would be highly beneficial if Vega could normalize and merge identical subject strings into a single Concept, regardless…

  12. Now that the Citation function has been improved to include the ability to copy or email, we are happy to have it as an option for patrons. Please allow us to set a from email for this as patrons will be confused by the no-reply@iiivega.com email address.

    The same goes for the Share/Email option.

    Even better, add Citation and Resource Page sharing to LX Starter so that we could customize a branded template for these patron-initiated emails.

  13. We would like the checkout summary in Discover to have a call number column like it does in the PAC. Some libraries use the call number to store information for linked uncataloged items. Please see the two attached examples.

    We have a report of a patron assuming editing the nickname in the profile would edit the username. It doesn't and it is confusing to have it there without knowing what it is supposed to do.   16. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

    I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)

  17. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).
