  1. I know the information display on search result cards has been discussed for re-designing to make it easier for casual users. I hope that will extend to the information and buttons that live under the search bar but before the results as well.

In our catalog, customizations like the text strings and Vega guides have made it busier admittedly, but I would like the text sizes, button shapes, colours, and/or selectability indicators to be more consistent and arranged in a way that is more intuitive for navigation (easier said than done I know).

It is especially noticeable on smaller screens.…

  2. We are LOVING the fact that Syndetics Unbound pulls in reading-level information and readalikes. We anticipate this will be very popular with teachers and parents, and it would be awesome if there was a way to easily export a list of the titles available at that level. As far as we can tell, right now there isn't a way to add all of the titles to a list or export/print the list.

  3. Currently when the OPACMSG is changed from [NEW] to [--] in the item record it does not change the view in Discover. For Discover to reflect this change, you must suppress and then unsuppress the bib and then run a record extraction. Our patrons/staff use this message to know whether they are to look on the NEW display or in the stacks.

  4. In the search bar, if someone types a query and their mouse happens to be below the search bar, when they press enter, it performs the search based on the suggested title or concept that was where the mouse was positioned. This unwanted autocompleting has confused me and others, and I've only just deduced the cause (I think). Most search engines don't do this behaviour, so people don't even think to consider the position of their mouse when typing a search into a search box. It has caused frustration for our librarians and patrons.

  6. Many of our patrons prefer to control their Overdrive/Libby account through the catalog. There is currently no freeze option for Overdrive holds within Vega Discover. Not sure if this is because we don't import the Overdrive records into our ILS (Sierra) or not.

  7. We would like there to be a similar feature to map it that there is in the current PAC. This is NOT similar to Stack Map in that this would help users find nearby libraries/branches within the consortium that have items (that they could travel to) and Stack Map seems to show them where items are within the library (a map within the library).

  8. The Log In pop up disappears if the mouse is ever-so-slightly off the tab, and keeps closing. This can be frustrating. Can this be "sticky" once clicked, so it doesn't disappear while patrons are typing?

  9. We are using the alias in the patron record in Sierra (field group tag c). This field group is indexed in the barcode-index, and patrons can use the alias for logging in to the patron account. The alias can also be used for logging in to the computers at the libraries and also for checking out e-media.

Setting/changing the nickname in Vega has no correlation to the alias in Sierra and only works for logging into Vega.

We fear this might be a bit confusing for our patrons.
So we think changing the nickname in Vega should also insert/update the…

  11. We have the ability to turn off "Other books in the series" in our Syndetics settings which turns off the gray covers for items not owned in that section, but unfortunately we have no way to turn off just the "Similar Series" section of "You May also Like" without also turning off the "Top Picks" for individual titles in the "You May also Like" section. We would like "Top Picks" to be separate from "Similar Series" in the settings for "You May Also Like" so we can turn off one without turning off the other.

  14. Don't require mandatory punctuation in a search string to improve search results. For example, there are authors with hyphenated last names (authorized heading). If a customer searches these authors without a hyphen, Vega does not display results. Vega requires the hyphen to be present to display results by this author.

  15. Currently, when you click on filters in the facets, you have the scroll all the way down to the last facet to finally get to the apply button. This is recent since before the apply button would move relative to where you were on the facet list. Either fix where the apply button is or simply apply the facets when they're selected, needing to click "apply" can be confusing for patrons when our old catalog would simply apply the filters once you selected them

  16. A patron that has signed in on the main Vega site or any collection site should remain signed in when linking to another collection site (unless the library has specifically limited sign in to an individual site). Currently, when an authenticated patron clicks to view another collection site, they lose their authentication. Patrons are not aware that they are on a completely separate site and are then confused when clicking on "My Bookshelf" does nothing. If they click on their account at the top of the page, they are prompted to sign and and are then authenticated without having to…

  17. Items that have zero item records but have Polaris SHRs on "Not currently Received " status show that they are "on shelf" at the branches with the SHRs even though there are no items at any of the branches. This had lead to patrons coming in looking for standing orders/ serial titles etc. that are not there.

  18. Recently this was fixed in Vega intentionally, however this auto-filling used to save our staff time in their weekly tasks. Ideally when you select a showcase, the title would be auto populated into the 'Showcase block title' box. Instead, it remains unchanged from the previous showcase. In the page preview, the showcase itself successfully changes (the books reflect the new selection), but the title doesn't update. This means our staff must type in the title each time.

  20. Sort order of attached items should match the sort order in Sierra. Series can then display is order by volume not by date published which results in displaying the last volume first.
