Enable multiple pickup locations per branch in Mobile App to support locker, curbside, and in-library holds pickup
I was told by Innovative support that SOLUS said the Mobile App will not be supporting the new pickup area functionality available in Polaris 7.5 that allows a user to select first a library and then a designated pickup area.
Providing an option for pickup locations is crucial as more libraries start to offer smart locker pickup and other, separate, pickup area scenarios.
The current work-around of creating new "branches" in Polaris just for a pickup location for a locker or other area creates multiple data and maintenance challenges both for administrators and library staff. This challenge is further multiplied in a multi-library consortia setting.
Including the new pickup area functionality in the Mobile App would allow libraries to provide the options without the need to create new “branches” which would in turn help streamline, simplify, and improve the experience of both staff and users.

I'll even share a mock-up of what I'd imagine this feature should look like. After you click "Place hold" and get this screen, it should have options for both "Pickup location" and "Pickup Area". If the branch doesn't have any pickup areas selected, the pickup area would simply be (None). Otherwise, it should provide a list of pickup areas available at that branch.

Critical for ease of use to ensure customers follow through with the process of placing a hold vs deciding to cancel due to a complicated process.

Mobile app should function like the PAC. Pickup areas should be accessible for these.

This one is crucial for an entire generation of library users who live primarily in our mobile app. Without it, they have to leave the app and use a separate web browser just to place requests for pickup at a library that has pickup areas configured (eg. Locker, Curbside, Drive-Up Window, etc.). Please add this capability!

Mobile App should have as much of the same features as the main discovery platform.

The mobile app should have the same pickup options as the catalog, thanks!

This is a critical need that is preventing us from promoting Innovative Mobile more... our exiting users are constantly asking for this issue to be addressed.

Overall development of the mobile app by Solus has been progressive. It sounds like this is not a decision by Polaris but by Solus. I hope whatever is holding them back is soon resolved.

The mobile app should have the same options as the catalog. I todays world more people are using apps and would be missing out on a service we could provide them.

People using the mobile app should have the same options as those using our catalog through the browser.

We have recently added holds lockers and need this functionality. This would greatly improve our patron experience and allow our library to be more accessible.

We just implemented the pickup area at our library and need this functionality in the mobile app so our users can have a consistent experience across platforms.

We now have 4 libraries in our system that have pickup lockers or a drive-up window. They've invested a lot to have these conveniences for their patrons. My hunch is that the same patrons who are using these are also heavy app users, and it's got to be frustrating to them not to be able to see that pickup spot in the app.

We had been using the workaround in Polaris using a branch for our Outdoor Locker. Now that pickup areas are available once we upgraded to 7.5, we changed to pickup area because the workflow is easier for staff. We looked at our app hold statistics and between January 1, 2024 and today, May 16, 2024 50% of the holds placed to the outdoor lockers were done using the app. Having that option in the app is critical to the experience of our patrons.

I think that multiple pick-up locations per branch should be enabled in the mobile app. My library currently has lockers as a pick-up location in Polaris. Our patrons will likely expect to be able to have our lockers as an option right away in the app.

While my library does not have lockers as a pickup location, there are member libraries that do, and others may consider it for the future. Patrons will expect it in the app.

Our consortia has several libraries incorporating this technology into their service model. It is critical to provide our patrons with seamless transitions between the various portals they use to access our libraries. It is essential that our mobile app support Pickup Areas.
