  1. Currently, when staff update their library's Dates Closed table for a single date in the future they are required to select/enter the same date in both the Dates Closed and the Until fields.

    While it is just a couple additional clicks, having the Until field auto-populate with the same date that staff have selected/entered in the Date Closed field would improve the end user experience when they are entering a number of single dates at once.

  2. We have a number of custom reports in the Polaris Staff Client that need to be accessible to our Circulation Staff in Leap. Ideally all Polaris canned reports should also be available to all staff in Leap. One custom report we use is for patrons who don't have an email address. Their notification option is set to mailing address. However, if they have a hold we call them instead of sending the hold notice by mail.     Just to set expectations, our strategy at this time is for users to access reports through the SSRS portal. As Eleanor mentioned in her comment, we are adding customizable menu options to Leap in 7.5 with the intent that they be used to link users to the reporting interface.

  3. Do this by creating a record set and using 'Ad Hoc Bulk Change' or 'Bulk Change' to change the circulation status from 'Lost' to 'Withdrawn', retaining the bill and item information on the patron's account.

  4. Currently printing receipts from the Leap web app is unideal, requiring either significant manual intervention from the user or extensive browser tweaks to get it operable. A background desktop client (similar to JSPrintManager) could handle the printing far better than the browser does natively.

  5. Per the Polaris support team as of September 2023, SIP2 only supports communication about holds where the associated item is in "Held" status. Holds requests in other statuses are 'invisible' to third-party services communicating with Polaris through SIP. When I brought this up, our site manager recommended putting in an enhancement request. Apparently there were some older ones on IdeaLab that have not been carried over to Idea Exchange.

  6. Our librarians make regular use the staff client's bibliographic option to sort by "most popular" when searching by author, particularly when supporting the needs of children and families. Please provide sort by options in Leap to match those available in the staff client.

  7. Currently we have to send patrons from our websites to the PAC if they need to reset their passwords. It would be great if there was an API call for this, as it's disruptive to the patron experience to have to send them to another site.

    The suggested functionality would reflect the PAC experience: once they enter a barcode, a password reset email would be sent to the email address on the account.

  8. We are upgrading to 7.4 soon and noticed that one of the new features (from 7.3) was the ability to cancel held holds. These seem to display really nicely in Leap (especially with the holds to action tab), but the display in the Polaris client could be improved. Currently, it seems like these cancelled holds just get added to the cancelled view which does not give any indication that the item was on the hold shelf and needs to be pulled/checked in.

  9. There can be accounts that are expired and are still able to check out ebooks. Expired accounts are no longer valid and should be blocking at least in the integration function between the ebook vendor and Polaris.
    If this isn't possible, can the checkout action trigger an email notice to the customer to have their library account renewed or reviewed.
    This should happen each day an integrated eContent transaction occurs.
    Keeping the account up to date will prevent the account from being closed or purged.

  10. We would like to be able to save a scanned copy of a patron registration card to our patron's record. Louisiana is passing a law on content restrictions that requires us to store this information as well as any signed waivers. It would be convenient to be able to scan and save this information directly to a patron's account rather than dump all the saves into a cloud storage platform.

  11. After selecting a title and clicking on the Availability button, a list of items is shown with their check out status. On that screen it would be great if there was a check box to turn on a filter that would only show the checked in statuses. Currently, the customer sees a very long list of checked out items and may not see the one item that is available to have now.

  13. We have had multiple patron requests to be able to sort reading history delivered by API by latest added or by title. Currently reading history is displayed with the oldest first which results in a lot of scrolling by the user.

  14. It is frustrating that Polaris allows items that have not been received to circulate. There is probably not a connection between the PO status and the item status – but it sure would be nice if there was! We recently had an incident where items were distributed to branches before having been invoiced and received. A few days later when the invoice was processed, the items were all changed to a status of In-Process, even though they had already been checked out or were in a status of Being Held.   15. Drop late fees that have accrued once an item has been charged for replacement cost. Once an item is charged for replacement (lost or damaged) the late fees that have accrued should automatically drop instead of being added to the replacement fee.

As a multi-branch system that floats some of our collections, we desperately need a way to set limits on the number of copies on shelf without giving up our ability to set limits on overall floating collection size. Currently in Polaris you must choose one limit or the other. Being able to spread copies throughout our system makes them more available for discovery and increases circulation.

  17. Since record sets have 2-level deletion, like bibs, items, and authorities, the RecordSets table should have a RecordStatusDate column.

    When using the 2-level deletion to manage record clean-up, it is usual to purge records that have been deleted for a certain amount of time, but without the deletion date it is harder to determine. Because the modification date of deleted record sets is still updated by some actions taken on the records in the set (e.g. merging over a record), the only way to determine the deletion is by querying the transactions database.

  19. Patrons set up "saved search results" and can receive email notifications on a regular basis.

    Unfortunately the language within those emails are misleading for patrons where the top of the email says "New items of interest at your library" , the middle of the message "The following saved searches returned these new results", but then at the bottom of the email the message says "this search found no new results" (See pictures). When reaching out to customer support reps, they informed us this is hard coded and cannot be changed in sysadmin or language editor.
