  2. Currently, when I library is temporarily closed for a renovation, we noticed different behavior in Discover vs. the PAC when it comes to default pickup location. We think the way it used to work is better.

In Discover that patrons registered to that library (who have no preferred pick up location) set on their profile... Discover will default to the first one alphabetically. This is a problem for us as a consortium because now patrons are clicking through and sending things to the library that starts with A for pickup. Yes, they can select another one, but most will just…

  3. When you navigate to another page in Vega Discover, we're seeing some confusion with users on how to perform a new search. We wondered if it would be helpful to have the word "Search" underneath the magnifying glass icon in the top right hand corner of the page.

  4. A patron that has signed in on the main Vega site or any collection site should remain signed in when linking to another collection site (unless the library has specifically limited sign in to an individual site). Currently, when an authenticated patron clicks to view another collection site, they lose their authentication. Patrons are not aware that they are on a completely separate site and are then confused when clicking on "My Bookshelf" does nothing. If they click on their account at the top of the page, they are prompted to sign and and are then authenticated without having to…

  5. In the kid’s catalog version of Vega Discover for consortium use we are currently unable to neatly organize the location codes needed to limit the content to solely JUV materials. There can be many JUV codes in use for a single library which can be confusing for the patron if they’re looking for a specific library in the Locations facet.

Level 1 (library) codes do not appear in the Locations facet, even if the Level 2 (branch) codes are nestled under them. Being able to have a single location option for each library would be beneficial for the patron’s experience…

  6. When in the children's catalog, the Vega & Syndetics sections (Related Resources, Topics, etc) in the records should ideally only display children's titles. As an example, right now, when I pull up the Diary of a Wimpy Kid DVD, I'm seeing the Where'd You Go Bernadette DVD under Related Resources and A Man Called Otto DVD in Topics. We don't want to direct children toward adult titles.

It would actually be great to also be able to hide any adult items from Related Resources, Topics, etc. anytime a record for children's material is being viewed, whether in the main Vega…

  7. Instead of only allowing a pickup location to be set as closed in Vega Discover for all libraries/branches, it would be helpful to be able to show a specific pickup location by a specific library/branch only. For example, we are a cooperative location. We are not a library. But our staff place holds to be picked up at our location. However, patrons accidentally choose our pickup location. On our old system, we were able to set it up so a particular pickup location would only display by OPAC profile (login). Can this functionality be added?

    PO NOTES: This would require…

  8. We would like to have some logging of when a customer signs into Vega. This would help us troubleshoot certain transactions the customer may have issues with. It would also provide counts for other types of usage reports pertaining to Vega usage.

  9. Allow patrons to search results based on Polaris items' loan period codes.

This will also allow Vega showcases to be created for popular items with unique loan periods.

  11. When someone clicks on the author name for an item, they should be brought to a search result that shows all items by that author available in their library system. Currently, we're brought to a page that looks like what I've attached and it's quite annoying to try and view everything and look for availability. If a patron is looking for information about an author, they're not likely to go looking in the library catalog. They should be able to click the author's name and see everything the author has written that's available in their library system as though they…

  12. This is more for library staff, but when searching by a standard number for a specific format, to have the search results land on the correct tab in rollup. For example, searching an ISBN for an e-resource will currently take to rollup but the book tab selected and not on the e-resource tab.

  14. Currently, only partial of the bibliographic description is displayed in the Location Drawer Item Details due to either character limit and/or predetermined select subfields. The full description needs to be displayed to include additional content from $e of the 300.

  15. Currently there are two options for passthrough sources, one to display for everything and the other to display for unavailable titles. We would like an option to display for only items not found. Our policies are that for new titles holds cannot be placed outside of our consortia for 6 months and if the option for a passthrough source was displayed, the request would be rejected. Displaying the option allows for an unrealistic expectation for the patron that they can get the material from elsewhere.

  16. When using the search bar to filter locations under the non-circulating settings, the scroll bar automatically goes back to the top of the list after you tick one location.

This is fine if your filter does not have many items, but if you have over 100, like I did, it takes a long time to complete the work as you have to keep scrolling down after every location.

The auto scroll doesn't seem to happen if you're not using the search filter.

  17. In the Classic catalog, when you view yor checkouts, the barcode is included (see https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46626907-add-the-item-barcode-to-the-checkouts-in-my-booksh) as is pertinent volume information. That information is not included when you view your checkout in Vega. We have multi-volume sets, magazine, etc., where this information would be helpful. We noticed this particularly when we set up a "dummy" ILL bib w/attached items (we don't have the Sierra ILL product, and our ILLs go through OCLC). Staff put details about the specific ILL in the attached item record, but Vega is only pulling the title from the bib, not the item volume information.

    Ideally…

  19. This functionality is available in WebPAC and Encore and is a core feature of Sierra to the discover layer.
Please make this visible in the patron's Vega account for full parity, otherwise the Message to Borrower field
    in Sierra becomes moot.

  20. When a user searches Vega Discover and has not applied a format filter we should not automatically select the first available format when frequently used formats such as book are unavailable (all copies circulating) because this can cause confusion resulting in an undesired request on the wrong format of a title.

A format tab other than the first default format should only be selected when a user has applied a format filter.
