  1. We have recently had the need for Showcase Admins to search all of our showcases by author. This can happen when libraries suddenly want to remove or add an author to a number of showcases, but don't know if they are already a part of that showcase.

    We tried using the author record for this purpose, but authors can be associated with hundreds of resources so this is not a practical way to search for this data.

  2. When you navigate to another page in Vega Discover, we're seeing some confusion with users on how to perform a new search. We wondered if it would be helpful to have the word "Search" underneath the magnifying glass icon in the top right hand corner of the page.

  3. We'd like Vega to sort the volumes in a serial holdings display with the latest issues at the top for easy patron access.

    For example, we have People magazine, with hundreds of items in our holdings. With the PAC display, the lastest issues are listed at the top, descending from there by date, so patrons can easily see what the latest issue is that we have and can quickly place a hold (see attached file "pac-request-list" screenshot). Vega seems to sort oldest-to-newest, so the user will have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to find…

  4. We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

  5. We would like to propose for a new feature to be developed that our librarians can use to publish book tips directly on our Vega Discover homepage.

    Ideally, on the homepage a title image can be displayed with a short, descriptive blurb written by the librarian and clicking it would lead to the actual a dedicated Book Tips page where the full entry is displayed, as well as earlier entries.   6. Offer a setting in Vega Admin to restrict access to third-party content (e.g., CloudLibrary) by patron code, such as controlling visibility and/or buttons to place holds and checkout.

    Problem
    The vendor records are ingested into Vega, but access restrictions enforced in the vendor’s app and website are not applied in Vega. As a result, certain patron codes can still place holds and check out digital items. When they visit the vendor's app/website, they are not granted access to the item.

  7. Would like to see the ability to place a one click hold like you can currently do the Polaris power pac. If you've chosen a preferred pickup location I don't see the necessity of having that 2nd window pop up that makes you confirm that.

In the new Vega Discover Account Portal launched this month, the Checkouts & Requests > Holds Requests area shows when a hold is Ready for Pickup, but can it display when the hold expires, e.g. when the item will be taken off the holds shelf? I realize the hold length is determined by our local policy, but can the calculation be done in Vega that this item was put on hold on X date, so "Pickup Expires" date could be X+7 days?

  9. We have both Hoopla Flex titles and Hoopla Instant titles. We're using the Hoopla ingest, but it doesn't include records from our growing Hoopla Flex collection. Our cataloging team has been looking at manually loading Hoopla Flex MARC records into our ILS. We had previously stopped manually loading eContent records even prior to purchasing Discover simply because it is so often a losing battle to keep records in sync. With the buttons on the left-hand side (Overview, Account, Checkouts & Requests, Bills & Fines, Bookmarks, Saved Searches), some of them do not provide easy navigation back to the start once you are within that area. For example, I click on Bookmarks and it takes me to the list of my lists. But if I then click into one of the lists, clicking that button doesn't take me back out to all my lists. There is a breadcrumb navigation trail at the top, which is good, but I would also expect the button on the side to take me back…

  11. We have a number of different staff creating and updating Showcases across our system. Currently, it is getting difficult to manage this as staff are beginning to duplicate each other's work and it is difficult to know which showcases are current and which are scheduled or embedded somewhere. When adding Showcases to Vega Homepage, it is impossible to distinguish between two showcases with the same name since no details display other than the title in the home page editor.

  12. We have had issues recently where items have been transferred to new bib. records and disappeared from Vega as a result and others where items were deleted and disappeared as expected, but then never reappeared once they were undeleted.

    We would like to have a database sync process that can be run which compares the Vega database against the ILS to confirm that everything is in sync - basically a cross-system data integrity check or verification process between systems that would let us know if there was anything that was out of sync so we could investigate and correct it.

  13. When setting up closure dates, it would be helpful to offer an option to setup a systemwide closure date (may be adjusted for each location).

    As a single library system, we only occasionally close an individual location; most closures would apply to all locations.

    Some closures may be need to be adjusted, such as a systemwide closure for a hurricane and turn off each location's closure as we reopen the buildings.

  14. Attached is a screenshot of the a search result for the work "found dogs." Our library has three branches: South, Valley Ranch, and West. South's copy is checked out, and Valley and West's copies are on the shelves. The patron has used the location facet to limit to the WEST branch.

    You'll notice that because South's copy is checked out, the branches are listed as:
    +Valley Ranch|+West|xSouth--South is placed at the end even though it's first alphanetically.

    However, the line of text that displays above this is "On shelf at Valley Ranch" because Valley Ranch precedes West alphabetically.

  15. Please enlarge the back button on the resource page. We have several reports from customers that they just don't know what to do when they land on the resource page. There are other ideas to add breadcrumbs on this page or add facets, but can at least the "back" button be more prominent?

Self-hosted Polaris Customers who have Vega Discover can allow a connection between their Polaris installation and Vega Discover for the purpose of using existing AD staff accounts for Vega user management. Currently, only one AD is supported. In consortia, there may be multiple ADs (e.g., in our environment, we have four).

    We'd like there to be support for multiple ADs so consortia can benefit from the convenience of using AD credentials to access Vega Discover.

  17. Showcases can only be sorted chronologically by publication date or alphabetically by title. We'd like to have 'random' as an option, so that the showcase would be sorted randomly each time the page / showcase loads.

  20. We recently received a request to add a list format option for the bookmarks tab. A patron stated that they wanted, "A list format option of looking at the titles with visible author, pub date, brief description as it was in the old catalog". This could be similar to our options when searching to switch from list to grid view.
