Stop the inclusion or exclusion of apostrophes from directly effecting the search results
Most patrons probably don't add apostrophes when searching (some do, some don't). We suggest it be taken out as a variable effecting the search results in basic search. In advanced search it can be included exactly as typed, but for the basic search it may do more harm than good. Please see the attached examples.

Message about duplicate hold
When patrons try to place a hold on something they already have placed a hold on, instead of getting a message that they already have a hold, they receive the message,
"Your request for this material was unsuccessful
Couldn't find suitable edition for the request"We would like to be able to edit this message to let them know they already have a hold and cannot place a second hold on the same record.

Add a dedicated copy button to Vega Item/Barcode Window
A small handful of our libraries have reported issues copying barcodes and BibID's from Vega's lightbox and pasting into Sierra. Apparently irregular expressions like a new line can sometimes be selected and Sierra will not paste anything afterward; giving these staff members the impression that nothing copied over.
We've explained that they can double-click the text to select only it but it would be helpful if there was a dedicated copy to clipboard button next to these fields to minimize confusion.
An example implementation would be https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_copy_clipboard.asp

Improved Hoopla Integration
With the Hoopla integration turned on, Hoopla records don't roll up with everything else (it looks like it's because the ingested records have the author as First Name Last Name instead of Last Name, First Name).
If we get an API ingested record for a Hoopla item we already have a MARC record for, we end up with a duplicate in Vega.

Consistent display of first available item Vega retrieves for works if a library has multiple items attached.
We have several multi-volume titles (graphic novels, travel guides, etc.) along with Library of Things title records that involve varying items owned by the same library requiring different call numbers and we’re finding some instances of Vega showing call number information of different copies depending on window of a rollup (main title work rollup, “Find a Copy” window, when clicking a specific library in list after clicking on “Find a Copy”) resulting in some confusion of library members and patron. To be consistent across at least the first two windows would be helpful. Please see attached for example.

Display and Edit Hold Activation Date in holds list
Currently when a hold activation date in the future is set, the only indication in the holds list is that the hold says Frozen. Nowhere does it list the activation date that was set for it. This date should display for the patron, and they should also be able to change that date to a different date in the future, not just unfreeze it and then refreeze it as of the current date.

Owning Libraries Not Showing B/C of Too Many Items on a Record
Currently, if there are more than 1000 items attached to a record, Vega only lists owning libraries (alphabetically) until that number is reached (and doesn't display the remaining libraries. Although there aren't many cases of a single record having so many attached items in my library, it does happen (think monthly magazines). It would be helpful if that number was increased.

enhance URL linking to include Syndetics lexile/reading level filters
I received the following from a school superintendent in our service area, and I think this would be a beneficial enhancement to Vega for students and school staff:
We store the Lexile level in our local student information system. This means that pretty easily, we could show the parents their kid's level, then link to the two local library districts with some instructions on how to filter and search. But as I shared, they still have to do a lot of clicking to get to that screen where they can filter on level and subject.
So what would the ideal…

Organizational Folders in Saved Searches and Showcases
The ability to sort Saved Searches and Showcases into folders would be helpful for larger libraries and consortium who create a large number of these assets.

Maintain Custom URL During Password Resets etc.
We use a custom URL search.bccls.org that patrons are accustomed to. When they go to do a password reset or other account related things they are redirected to the na4 URL which causes concern. We would like to submit an idea that custom URLs remain consistent throughout the Vega Discover experience.

Index genre headings
We have several customers that use genre headings (655 field) to find materials. For example, "video recordings for the hearing impaired" helps deaf and hard-of-hearing customers locate DVDs with closed captioning. This is not a searchable field in Vega and there does not seem to be a way to find this information anywhere on the record.

Show format icons in admin instead of the word "default"
It would be much more helpful for us if we saw the current default icons for each format type when we look at the "ILS Material Type to Work Level Roll Up Mapping" chart (see attached). We have no way of knowing what the "default" icon is for some of these formats, so we would have to do a search one by one in grid view to see what each format is by default. The chart should display the current default icon either next to or instead of the word "default" and there could be an option at the top…

Staff user accounts: add library/organization field
To manage staff accounts across a consortium, we need to be able to associate users with each other by library. It would be very useful to have a piece of metadata for staff accounts that identifies which library(ies) they work for.
This would:
1. Make it easier to filter users when looking at the long list of all users.
2. Let people have control over the showcases created by others in their organization but not the entire system - currently, we can't let librarians publish their own showcases because we don't want them to have consortia-level control to all showcases.…9 votes -
Update the Current Vega On Order Logic to include Suppressed Status Items
The current Vega On Order logic allows the library to select Material Types that will show a status of On Order when there are no items attached. The problem is that for older titles sometimes all the attached items have a status that we suppress from display because it's not useful to the patrons such as: Missing, Withdrawn, Damaged, Lost, etc. These items, because they are suppressed from display will cause this title to show up as ON ORDER when it's actually not and may be weeded from the collection soon. If the logic could be updated to include suppressed…

Editable Patron Profile Fields - Edit AND/OR Add
Currently, when you allow patrons to edit patron profile fields like Email address, phone numbers, etc., you can Edit and Add. We don't want our patrons to Add in some cases, like Email, because when the patron does this in Vega, that means an additional z-tagged field in the record. Until Vega allows LX notices to go to more than 1 z-tagged field, we don't want patrons adding one and then wondering why they didn't get the notice to the e-mail address they just added. It's confusing. So if there was a check box for "Edit" and a check box…

Allow patrons to add or modify "username" field value
Patrons currently lack the ability to add or modify the "username" field value (Polaris Registration field with Polaris) in Vega Discover. Historically, patrons had this capability, but after updating to Vega Discover, we disabled it due to its non-editable nature. However, due to significant feedback from patrons, we have re-enabled this feature. Please note that enabling it now requires manual IT intervention through SQL adjustments. Once we transition to a hosted environment, this manual adjustment will no longer be feasible. Therefore, it's crucial for patron access to our catalog, public machines, and express check that this functionality remains intact.

Add Shelf Location to Find a Copy All Location View
We received an idea to possibly redesign the "Find a Copy" menu so that viewing shelf locations would no longer need the user to click the library that they are searching for resulting in two clicks to see that information.
"You have to click on the library name itself in order to get a full picture of where an item is. It's an extra unnecessary step"

Advanced Search
Currently the advanced search option is pretty unhelpful for patrons. All it really does is define what a Boolean search is and not particularly in a way that makes sense to someone who doesn't already have knowledge of what a Boolean search is. Advanced search needs to bring people to a place where they are given more guidance with multiple search boxes to help guide them more. It needs to make sense to patrons who have no clue how Boolean operators work or even what they are, not for librarians who were taught about this in school.
