  1. On the Holds tab, it lists how many holds you have, but not how many have arrived. This would allow patrons who have a lot of items on hold to know exactly how many to expect at pick up.

  3. When setting up closure dates, it would be helpful to offer an option to setup a systemwide closure date (may be adjusted for each location).

    As a single library system, we only occasionally close an individual location; most closures would apply to all locations.

    Some closures may be need to be adjusted, such as a systemwide closure for a hurricane and turn off each location's closure as we reopen the buildings.

  4. We have a number of different staff creating and updating Showcases across our system. Currently, it is getting difficult to manage this as staff are beginning to duplicate each other's work and it is difficult to know which showcases are current and which are scheduled or embedded somewhere. When adding Showcases to Vega Homepage, it is impossible to distinguish between two showcases with the same name since no details display other than the title in the home page editor.

  5. For Hero Carousels, when you add a showcase there's no option to display the showcase title. Having just the image doesn't give context for patrons to know what that leads them to. We would like the option to include the showcase title with each picture.

  6. Would like to see the ability to place a one click hold like you can currently do the Polaris power pac. If you've chosen a preferred pickup location I don't see the necessity of having that 2nd window pop up that makes you confirm that.

  7. We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

  8. Change the position of passthrough source links to a row below "## results found for {keyword}".

    The current position of the findFrom text and passthrough source links does not leave much space for more than a few words. The responsive behavior of the findFrom text is to disappear on small screens. This makes it difficult to convey the purpose of the passthrough source link. If the link has an entire row there will be adequate space for descriptive text on all devices.

  9. There's no way to modify the text that appears on the Passcode Reset page for Vega Discover. We've seen some patrons trying to enter their barcode with spaces as it is formatted on their library card which doesn't work. At a minimum, it would be great to indicate on this page to enter "Barcode/Username (no spaces, please)", or even better to have the input field ignore spaces entered. Thanks for the consideration and reducing some of our front line staff headaches.

  10. Have the options to reset PINs via text message. Patrons without an email address in their record get an error message that an email couldn't be sent. There are a lot of patrons who do not like to give out their email, so having the reset link send via text would be useful.

We came across situations where incomplete/unauthorized subject headings (see attached) from suppressed OverDrive API-sourced records are appearing as Topics in the record for the print version of the same title, even when it isn't rolling up with our ILS-sourced econtent record for the same title (see attached). We were told that even though we have our own ILS record for the title with those subject headings removed, and the API record that has those subject headings is suppressed, the content from that suppressed API record is still being passed through to Vega, and it is connected to the print record…

  13. Right now, Vega does not support signup for SMS notifications. We are having to link people out to the old Webpac signup screen. We would love to have SMS signup available in Vega. this is one of the biggest requests we get from our libraries.

  15. The following three status are currently used in Vega:

    Available
    Checked Out
    Unavailable

    While Available and Checked Out provide good information for patrons. Unavailable does not. We'd love to be able to map additional Polaris Circulation Statuses either for display or as an addendum to Unvailable.

    Primarily the Polaris Circulation Statuses for Held, On Order, and In Process are valuable at-a-glance information for patrons to have.

    Given that multiple items can be on a single record there would need to be a ranking system for some statuses.

  16. When there are physical copies of the title available, the shelf location appears on the results page. However, if there are no physical copies on the shelf at any location, that shelf location is hidden and the user must click into a location in order to see the shelf location. It is inconvenient to have that information hidden on the front page.

  17. We are using the "Link to Patron Accounts" URL options from the documentation to send our patrons to the Login Popup when they link to login to their account. Documentation: https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Link_to_patron_accounts.htm
    When we do this their profile screen, checkouts, holds, etc displays automatically. These screens should be visible only when selected by the customer. This is especially problematic when a customer is logging into their account in a public area. It is a privacy issue.

  19. Libraries that use SIP2 (requiring barcode and PIN) for Overdrive authentication have found that eContent Integration with Overdrive fails when enabled in Vega Discover. Customers cannot borrow or reserve Overdrive titles directly from Vega because Overdrive requires both barcode and PIN for the checkout process, and Vega Discover cannot send the Patron's PIN (it is encrypted in Sierra and not available to send).
    Admittedly, expecting Vega to send encrypted patron PINs to Overdrive when the patron is already authenticated in Vega is an unrealistic and unsafe idea. Innovative support have already said that this issue is primarily a limitation of…

  20. Ability to search the name of a showcase. (This is similar to a feature BiblioCore has where patrons can type "new dvds" and retrieve a pre-limited search results). So, this would enable libraries to create a showcase called New DVDs, and patrons would be able to easily find those materials.
