  1. When choosing to sort a list under My Bookshelf (Checkouts, Holds, Reading History), initial articles and punctuation at the beginning of the title (such as quotation marks) are not ignored when sorting alphabetically by title. Could this be changed so that sorting alphabetically by title will follow the MARC record's 245 second indicator, which gives instruction on how many spaces to ignore when filing alphabetically (e.g., 245 second indicator of 4 would be used when "The " is at the beginning of a title)?

  2. Vega Discover allows patrons to choose individual fines they would like to pay but doesn't allow a patron to pay simply a set amount of their fines. Patrons would sometimes like to just pay a portion of their fines that will allow them to continue using the library. Add a feature that lets the patron enter the fine amount they want to pay of their total and have that portion deducted from their total fines.

  3. We'd like Vega to sort the volumes in a serial holdings display with the latest issues at the top for easy patron access.

    For example, we have People magazine, with hundreds of items in our holdings. With the PAC display, the lastest issues are listed at the top, descending from there by date, so patrons can easily see what the latest issue is that we have and can quickly place a hold (see attached file "pac-request-list" screenshot). Vega seems to sort oldest-to-newest, so the user will have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to find…

  5. We are finding the creation of staff user accounts a bit clunky. Having only 12 hours to accept the link is too short of a time frame when someone from another location is creating the user account but unaware of when the staff member is working or will see the email. If the window is missed, there's no way for them to request a new link, and the account has to be deleted and recreated. There also needs to be a Forgot Password option for staff users.

  6. We would like to propose for a new feature to be developed that our librarians can use to publish book tips directly on our Vega Discover homepage.

    Ideally, on the homepage a title image can be displayed with a short, descriptive blurb written by the librarian and clicking it would lead to the actual a dedicated Book Tips page where the full entry is displayed, as well as earlier entries.   9. Offer a setting in Vega Admin to restrict access to third-party content (e.g., CloudLibrary) by patron code, such as controlling visibility and/or buttons to place holds and checkout.

    Problem
    The vendor records are ingested into Vega, but access restrictions enforced in the vendor’s app and website are not applied in Vega. As a result, certain patron codes can still place holds and check out digital items. When they visit the vendor's app/website, they are not granted access to the item.

  10. Right now we can use scheduler to regenerate Create Lists review results. In order for a showcase to show the latest results someone needs to manual sync the list. It's against the point to be able to schedule a list, but not be able to schedule the associated show case.

    Example - I have scheduled a search to generate a list of our on order travel books. This is running daily. To update the associated showcase I have to remember to resync it.

  11. We'd like the option to make some of the terms and vocabulary used in Vega Discover to be editable:

    • At patron login, we'd like to be able to change "Passcode" to something else ("PIN", as this is the terminology we use with our patrons);

    • Also at login, we'd like to be able to change "Barcode" to something else ("Library Card Number")

    • We'd also like to update the default wording that is used when patrons choose to save their reading history, so that we can make a reference to such data being accessible to law enforcement when the patron opts in

  12. We have had issues recently where items have been transferred to new bib. records and disappeared from Vega as a result and others where items were deleted and disappeared as expected, but then never reappeared once they were undeleted.

    We would like to have a database sync process that can be run which compares the Vega database against the ILS to confirm that everything is in sync - basically a cross-system data integrity check or verification process between systems that would let us know if there was anything that was out of sync so we could investigate and correct it.

  13. When setting up closure dates, it would be helpful to offer an option to setup a systemwide closure date (may be adjusted for each location).

    As a single library system, we only occasionally close an individual location; most closures would apply to all locations.

    Some closures may be need to be adjusted, such as a systemwide closure for a hurricane and turn off each location's closure as we reopen the buildings.

  14. When placing a hold on a title with multiple volumes, a screen pops up asking "Which Volume/Issue Would You Like To Request?". The volumes are then sorted by digit rather than numerically. So, for example, Vega Discover sorts as follows:

  15. We have a number of different staff creating and updating Showcases across our system. Currently, it is getting difficult to manage this as staff are beginning to duplicate each other's work and it is difficult to know which showcases are current and which are scheduled or embedded somewhere. When adding Showcases to Vega Homepage, it is impossible to distinguish between two showcases with the same name since no details display other than the title in the home page editor.

  16. When a patron applies a location filter to Discover search results, the edition and items are limited to the location(s) selected.

    The roll-up tabs are updated to remove items and editions at other locations.

    The filtering is passed to Vega Mobile so the filtering experience matches.

Self-hosted Polaris Customers who have Vega Discover can allow a connection between their Polaris installation and Vega Discover for the purpose of using existing AD staff accounts for Vega user management. Currently, only one AD is supported. In consortia, there may be multiple ADs (e.g., in our environment, we have four).

    We'd like there to be support for multiple ADs so consortia can benefit from the convenience of using AD credentials to access Vega Discover.
