  1. We use a custom URL search.bccls.org that patrons are accustomed to. When they go to do a password reset or other account related things they are redirected to the na4 URL which causes concern. We would like to submit an idea that custom URLs remain consistent throughout the Vega Discover experience.

  2. When patrons try to place a hold on something they already have placed a hold on, instead of getting a message that they already have a hold, they receive the message,
    "Your request for this material was unsuccessful
    Couldn't find suitable edition for the request"

    We would like to be able to edit this message to let them know they already have a hold and cannot place a second hold on the same record.

  3. We leverage discover.rhpl.org for our Vega Discover Premium catalog access but to access our staff portal we have to remember to use https://rhpl.na3.iiivega.com/staff/

    Please allow premium users leveraging custom DNS to use their custom domain for /staff access as well.

  4. Patrons currently lack the ability to add or modify the "username" field value (Polaris Registration field with Polaris) in Vega Discover. Historically, patrons had this capability, but after updating to Vega Discover, we disabled it due to its non-editable nature. However, due to significant feedback from patrons, we have re-enabled this feature. Please note that enabling it now requires manual IT intervention through SQL adjustments. Once we transition to a hosted environment, this manual adjustment will no longer be feasible. Therefore, it's crucial for patron access to our catalog, public machines, and express check that this functionality remains intact.

  5. It would be nice to have the ability to export all the bibliographic record numbers in a rollup instead of having to click on the details for each individual record included in a rollup. This practice makes it very tedious to sort out incorrect rollups especially when there can be up to 20+ records on a single tab.

  7. REQUEST: Remove the Apply step when selecting facets globally for all Vega searches.

    Feature Details:
    Job Stories: As a Vega user, when I am applying facets to my searches. the facets are applied dynamically as I select them.

    Acceptance Criteria:
    The Apply step for facet usage is removed for all search workflows using facets. Selecting a facet applies it to the search results.

  8. REQUEST: Add the ability to delete reading history entries individually.

    FEATURE DETAILS
    Job Story: As a user, I can manage my Reading History by deleting items that I don't wish to track. 

    Acceptance Criteria
    The following features are added to Reading History
    Delete from Reading History
    Patrons can scroll through their reading history and choose items to delete. 
    A maximum of 20 items can be selected at the same time to manage update calls. 
    Sierra users will see an indication that multiple requests are being processed while Vega loops.
    Patrons will use Opt-Out to delete their entire history.

  9. It has been requested to index volume record statements to be searchable as it was in Encore. We have local generic bibliographic records that to input alternate titles or other added entries in the bib record would not appropriate; however, if volume statements were searchable, patrons and library members alike could locate desired resources.

  10. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

    I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)

  11. Currently the advanced search option is pretty unhelpful for patrons. All it really does is define what a Boolean search is and not particularly in a way that makes sense to someone who doesn't already have knowledge of what a Boolean search is. Advanced search needs to bring people to a place where they are given more guidance with multiple search boxes to help guide them more. It needs to make sense to patrons who have no clue how Boolean operators work or even what they are, not for librarians who were taught about this in school.

  12. Note fields include useful information that is meant to be displayed to users. This information helps users decide if the resource described is relevant to their needs.

    A subtitle that appears only on the cover of a book might only appear in a 500 note. A note might specify that a resource is a reprint of an earlier publication or give the original title of a translation, just to name a few examples.

    Most notes are repeatable, so all instances of these MARC fields should display when there are multiple. Currently, only the first 505 (Contents note) displays.

  13. Right now when patrons go to Discover they need to click on the search bar before searching. We suggest it should be like Google (or any other search engine), when the page loads you can start typing your search.

  15. I think that ingesting name authority records into Vega Discover would improve capturing name tracings in the 400 field, so that for example if Samuel Langhorne Clemens is searched, Mark Twain's works will also appear etc.

  16. Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

  18. We have libraries complain that patron are confused due to the routing codes being present after the owning library in the Vega display (see screenshot).

    It would be great if we can somehow mask this, or add the locations to the translation file to get rid of this display.
