Display copies in Available statuses first in location drawer
When multiple copies of an item are assigned to the same library branch, the location drawer appears to list them in order of item record ID within the same location (this is also the case in our classic Polaris PAC, not sure how it is in Sierra). We have had feedback from front-line staff that they would like to see copies in Available status listed first, with copies in other statuses listed below. This reasoning makes a lot of sense to me. If a patron is opening the location drawer, it's because they want to know where the item is…

Automatically hide suppressed records in Showcases
Currently, if a suppressed bib is included in a showcase, it displays but doesn't include details and is not clickable. It shows the default colour block with title instead of the cover image and does not link to more information. Additionally, if the showcase is embedded outside of Vega, the titles display this way and are clickable but lead to a 404 error.
This can be resolved by removing the title from the showcase but that requires someone to notice and report the issue and then for the showcase list to be updated manually. This workflow also doesn't allow for…

Lead record in a roll up
When a paperback and a hardcover are rolled up together, Vega seems to default to the paperback information, which is less robust, as we do very minimal cataloging on those. There is no synopsis on the detailed page. In the old catalog, having no summary for a paperback wasn't a huge deal because the annotations gave you enough information. But in Vega, you get nothing at all unless you click on the ebook. Prioritizing the records, or pulling the 520 from any of the rolled up records would be super helpful.

Ability to use facets to refine/filter Showcase results
It would be helpful for patrons to be able to refine Showcase results by selecting facets as in the advanced search (e.g., to filter by availability, location, format, etc.).

Showcase Ordered Alphabetically includes 'The'
When a showcase is opened and it is sorted by title 'The' is not excluded. For example, The Gatsby would be under T when we think it should be under G.

Show all editions automatically when a volume field is present in the item record
When there is a volume field in the item record, show all editions automatically, so that patrons can easily view all options without taking additional steps.
Right now, when patrons first view the Vega record, they must click "Find a Specific Edition," and then the down arrow, in order to see all editions held in the collection.

Improving search with stemming and truncation
We have noticed that stemming in Vega Discover seems to work mainly for English. For example, ‘history’ also retrieves ‘histories’, but the Swedish word ‘historia’ does not retrieve ‘historier’. Since we are a Swedish library, it is important that stemming also works effectively for Swedish, not only for English.
As stemming can be challenging and sometimes unreliable, truncation is a vital complement. Truncation gives users more control and helps capture all inflected forms or compound variations of a word (which is especially important in Swedish). For example, searching for compounded words with a wildcard (e.g. ‘histor*) would ensure broader and…

Have fields to hold translations for Showcase titles
We currently use English, Chinese, French, Polish and Spanish languages as options in our Vega Discover. While toggling between languages, I noticed that embedded showcase titles remain in English regardless of the language selected (I wasn't expecting it to translate).
Proposed idea: Could there be an option to enter additional languages for Showcase titles that can be pulled when the overall platform language is changed so that native Chinese speakers see the librarian-inputted Chinese Showcase Title instead of the English title? If no alternate language title was entered, it should default to the English language title.
Thanks for your consideration!

Support "additional text " feature for notifications in Polaris in Discover
Polaris (Leap and PAC) support the ability for a patron to opt to receive both an email AND text message or a phone call AND text message using the "additional text" checkbox feature. However, Vega only supports patrons selecting a single preferred notification method.
Patrons often opt in to dual notifications at registration, but their Discover profile won't reflect the notifications they actually will receive. This is likely to create confusion and frustration for patrons as well as limiting the use of a valuable Polaris feature.

add 505$t should be included in title search
The 505$t subfield should be included in the title search.
Here is an example of a situation where that is valuable. If a library user is searching for Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" and uses the Title search, they will only find the actual work "Cat's Cradle". However, this book is also contained in short story compilations. They will miss this short story compilation which may better suit their reading needs.

add On Order facet
Please work with libraries to determine a way to add an "on order" facet. We ingest all bibliographic records before we receive the physical copies. Library users can also place holds on these "on order" bibliographic records. Library users want to distinguish between "recently received" by the library and "recently ordered" by the library.

Update Roll-Up Logic for DVDs and Blu-Rays
Right now, the roll-up logic for DVDs and Blu-Rays uses the publisher information in addition to title to identify between different editions. However, there are a number of older films that have been republished by a new distributor, even though they are the same film, and despite being basically the same, do not roll-up. "Dune" (1984) is one example. "Fire Walk With Me" is another.
I think it'd be better to use "director" as a roll-up criteria as that's (almost always) unique to items with the same name. If someone who knows which cataloging field that would be, it'd be…

Purchaise request
Hello, in our old library catalog, patrons could request items not yet held by the library. I'm not referring to requests from other branches or other libraries, but rather requests for purchaises. A form for this was integrated into the catalog, which was then automatically sent as an email to the library's email program. This feature made processing purchaise requests quick and easy.
Such an option would be great in Vega as well. How are purchaise requests currently recorded there?
Best regards, Sandra

Sort by call number
Staff use the catalog to pull materials for displays and storytimes, and sorting by author or title doesn't do them any good when looking in Non-Fiction, or when looking across multiple collections. For example, if they were looking for display items for Dragons they are going to be possibly in a few different Dewey numbers as well as in all the subsets of fiction, so running a search and being able to sort by call number would help them find the items as efficiently as possible.

Possibility to turn of ratings
We as a Swedish library have opted out of the "review" option in the Syndetics Unbound integration, as we feel the English reviews do not provide much value to our patrons. It is however not possible to remove the ratings when hovering over a title.
This is annoying as the a short blob of text (in English) appears with the rating, and it isn´t even possible to see the whole text (see attached image).
We feel it should be possible to turn this off.

Make the color of the search box customizable
We would like to make the color of the search icon and other icons that have the same orange color to be customizable. This would increase the possibility to create the same look and feel that the other websites of our city have.

Filter by Location Limits Updates the Roll-Up Results
When a patron applies a location filter to Discover search results, the edition and items are limited to the location(s) selected.
The roll-up tabs are updated to remove items and editions at other locations.
The filtering is passed to Vega Mobile so the filtering experience matches.

Assign specific stat group for Sierra REST API Requests
We would like for Vega to allow specifying a statistics group w/Sierra REST API requests similar to what the III mobile app does.
Vega has never sent a statistics group with Sierra REST API requests (ex. renewals) and the current behavior is that the request is logged under statistics group 0. We only learned of this - up until recently, the requests were actually falling under the stat group assigned for our Classic WebPAC web transactions.
We would prefer keeping stat group 0 for issues/errors (bad login used for SDA, i.e., no locations served assigned) vs. certain Vega transactions.

Prevent SHR information displaying under title
We need a way to prevent serial holding record information from displaying in the work card. SHR info is very useful when looking at an individual library's location drawer, but since it can differ from library to library in our consortium is often incorrect when displayed under the shared title. An example is Vogue magazine. Not all of our libraries limit circulation on the current issue, nor do they all keep two years of issues. But because the SHR for the library that is alphabetically first has those limitations in the shared public note and retention designation, it shows under…

Make New York Times best sellers available as a homepage showcase
Vega has a list of the current New York Times best sellers, which shows up on the detailed title page if you view that for one of the titles on the list (see attached screenshot). It would be great to be able to have this showcase on the library's homepage.
