  1. Patrons don't often think about cancelling a hold until they have received a notice. By that time, it is already in transit or on the holds shelf. This is often when they want to cancel, but cannot. There is an idea listed about suppressing the Cancel option for items that cannot be cancelled. This would be a partial solution, but for our library, the true need is to allow patrons to cancel items that have already been trapped for them.

  3. Displaying the full title (245) including the statement of responsibility (subfield ǂc) will help users identify additional contributors associated with a title.

    There are also sometimes additional titles within this part of the field. Subfield ǂc includes all information following the first slash.

  4. Currently, when a user gets to the end of the configured images, they have to use the back arrow. It would be a better user experience if the hero carousel navigated to the first image.

  5. We would like to have the ability to sort Edition Information for an item by other identifiers such as Availability, Publisher, etc. This will help with customizing the user's experience a bit more when looking at the particular editions that they would like.

  6. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).

  7. StackMap is an indoor mapping web application that helps patrons easily locate library resources including material, subjects wayfinding, rooms and public PCs in real-time. At this time, VEGA does not seem to support this application, but it does work in the default Polaris catalog.

  8. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

    For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

  9. Our customers want the ability to export their reading history. There should be options in the format it comes out in, including csv/excel.

    They want this because they keep their own records due to our titles getting deleted after withdrawal, so their Vega list is no longer accurate for all their reading.

Patrons are not finding the latest popular titles. patrons want to searc forJohn Grisham and immediately see the most "currently" relevant title- the one everyone is looking for, the one people are talking about and want to get their name on. Maybe it isnt even published. In Encore this is the first title you see, in Vega you wont find it for a bit.

    Relevancy must consider date of publication over the number of copies.

  11. The current 250-character limit in Vega Discover's announcement feature significantly restricts our ability to convey essential, detailed information in a single message. This limitation is particularly challenging when addressing complex situations that impact multiple services. Our public relations team is compelled to create multiple, shortened versions of the same announcement to fit this constraint, leading to an inefficient communication process that does not align with the capabilities of modern CMS platforms.

  12. Please add the ability for libraries to add their own permission groups with specific level of controls set by administrators, or build more granular permission groups. Currently, administration level access is required to do many of the features explained to us for showcase approves and Vega Homepage displays.

    We do not want to give all of our librarians "admin" level and "staff" is not high enough to make our day to day work possible.

  13. We've had customers and staff point out that at times, shelf location information could be more visible in Vega results. In particular, we wondered if it would be possible to use bold type for the shelf location information on the search result page on the kiosk sites, in addition to the call number.

    Also, when you go to the detailed information that lists the call number, collection, and shelf location information, we thought perhaps, when the shelf location information is available, it might help if it was listed above the call number.

  14. Right now, when you click on the library info icon in the top right, it seems to default to whichever library we have most recently been editing on the admin interface. It should default to the library site that you are actually on. as it is, the patron must use the drop down to find their library. I am sure others have made this request.

  15. Our libraries do not use the Always Show a Call Number Option. We only want a call number to display if it's the expected library for the patron. Because of this the Find a Copy link does not always appear if only a few libraries have the item. We would like it to show consistently as removing it creates an extra step & an inconsistent experience when browsing. Clicking on "Find a copy" is helpful even if only a few libraries have the item since it pulls up the whole list of libraries that own the item and doing so…

In a consortia, especially one with many member libraries that share patrons, it is important for users to be able to move from the main/parent domain instance of Discover to one of the individual library sites and also to be able to navigate between member library sites. This is functionality currently available in the Polaris PAC and heavily used.

This idea came from a journey mapping exercise at IUG - a non-card holder attempts to use the library for the first time, makes their way to a library website, uses the search box to find an item, and locates it in the results.   18. Since some libraries in our consortium are fine free and others are not, patrons would like to know what library owns the item(s) they have checked out as to avoid unnecessary fines. Or they may simply like to return it to the owning library to save delivery work. Generally, it is good information to have visible to patrons.

  19. I still feel this is sort of a bug, but I'm going to try submitting an idea.

    When logged in: You can click on any link in "My Bookshelf" to expand it, but you can only collapse it by clicking either the down arrow or the "My Bookshelf" tab. When on another tab such as "Bookmarks, Saved Searches, or Reading History", I feel that clicking on these tabs should also collapse the My Bookshelf back to the bottom.

    When not logged in: Clicking any link in the "My Bookshelf" will expand it but clicking "My Bookshelf" no longer collapses it…

  20. We often re-use images for our Vega home page, specifically the Hero, and there is no way to quickly access those images - you are forced to upload again and again. For example, maybe we opt to promote/use one of our Hero images every 3 months for a particular service. When you go to promote that service again, you have to try and find the artwork you stored locally again, upload.
