  2. Displaying the full title (245) including the statement of responsibility (subfield ǂc) will help users identify additional contributors associated with a title.

    There are also sometimes additional titles within this part of the field. Subfield ǂc includes all information following the first slash.

  3. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  4. When looking at an item record in Vega Discover, patrons should be able to right click on titles to open in a new tab (e.g., in the list of You May Also Like, Related Resources, Topics, etc.). Right now, patrons have to click on the title to open the record, see if we have it and where it's located. If they want to look at another title, they have to use the back button then wait for the page to refresh again, scroll down, and repeat.

  6. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

    If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

  7. When a specific branch has been selected, automatically show item information (location, call number etc.) beneath items located at the selected branch in search results so that no additional click is necessary to see call number, etc.

  8. I think the patron's would be better served if the hyperlink of an author's name went directly to the other items they have written and to NOT go to an author page. I feel like more patrons want to simply see other works by the author and not read a wannabe Wikipedia page.

  9. Since some libraries in our consortium are fine free and others are not, patrons would like to know what library owns the item(s) they have checked out as to avoid unnecessary fines. Or they may simply like to return it to the owning library to save delivery work. Generally, it is good information to have visible to patrons.

  10. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).

  11. Can you possibly index the volume sub field within the record in order to make the searching of books within a series a bit more efficient? For example, searching Dog Man 6 and getting volume 6 of Dog Man within our results.

  12. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

    For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

    And similarly, we are not able to see the item’s 500a…

  13. On Order items and non-circulating items with holdings records (e.g. newspapers) do not appear in the search results on collection sites for consortia setup. Rather, they only appear in the search results for the global site.

  14. Create a sort by hold placement option. This would allow customers to view the list of holds based on their spot in the hold queue, which enable them to view titles are coming sooner and see what will likely come later.

  15. We would like Freeze hold to be taken out as a dropdown of Cancel hold and be its own button. It's not intuitive that you would click Cancel hold to get to Freeze hold. Alternatively maybe the button could say Edit hold, then the options could be Cancel or Freeze.

  17. We use a staff account to create curated lists we can send to patrons as part of a personalized reader's advisory program. We've noticed that the high number of lists (>350) is creating marked slow-down and functionality issues in Vega Discover when logged into this account. We were told the number of lists is likely causing the issue. Consider creating the ability for staff to have high-content accounts for situations like this.

  18. If there are no circulating items available and there are no open orders attached, we would like the status in edition information to display as not available instead of on order. On order is confusing when there are no open orders attached to the bib.

  19. 690 $v is currently ignored upon ingest, causing Local Subject entries to disregard subheadings in Concept displays. We're attempting to create showcases based on saved concept searches for some of our local collections, rather than needing to manually updated showcases as new items are added. Subcollections with subject heading like Diversity Collection -- Asian/Pacific Islander literature, Diversity Collection -- Latinx literature, and Diversity Collection -- LGBTQIA+ literature all display under the concept Diversity Collection in Discover.

  20. Add Sort by Author Ascending/Descending options to Bookmarks and Lists in patron accounts.

    Along with Title and Date Added, this is an option in WebPAC that patrons are used to having. It also makes sense to have consistent view/sort behavior across the catalog. So, since patrons are/will be able to sort search results, checkouts, holds, and reading history by author, they should be able to do the same with other lists, as well.
