  1. We would like the ability to post notes in the fines and fees section of the patron account to alert patrons of exceptions (in PayPal) when paying via credit card. There is confusion when payment do not go through and there is no reason given (void, incorrect credit card number entered, American Express not accepted...)

  2. If you are on a resource page, log in, and then use the browser back button, there is an authentication error. The error page cannot be edited. The error page is not intuitive and provides no way back to the main catalogue.

    The error is: Unexpected error when authenticating with identity provider".

    That has not been well received by our staff & customers.

  3. The following three status are currently used in Vega:

    Available
    Checked Out
    Unavailable

    While Available and Checked Out provide good information for patrons. Unavailable does not. We'd love to be able to map additional Polaris Circulation Statuses either for display or as an addendum to Unvailable.

    Primarily the Polaris Circulation Statuses for Held, On Order, and In Process are valuable at-a-glance information for patrons to have.

    Given that multiple items can be on a single record there would need to be a ranking system for some statuses.

  4. On the Holds tab, it lists how many holds you have, but not how many have arrived. This would allow patrons who have a lot of items on hold to know exactly how many to expect at pick up.

  6. As of May 8th, 2024, Patrons at Vega Discover Kiosks which run in incognito mode are now presented with a greyed-out screen with a small white cookie banner at the bottom. For patron privacy, best practice for any Kiosk deployed in a public space calls for the erasure of all browser cache and cookies at the end of the kiosk session. For a walk-up session, there is no clear instruction as to what action needs to be taken to get to the full site, clicking a small "x" in the lower right corner is neither intuitive nor accessible.   7. We feel the Hero Carousel is a good way to highlight items that do not have a cover image (ex. digital content such as streamed video).

    However, it is currently limited to 5 showcases/URLs. It would be great if the number could be increased.

  8. For Hero Carousels, when you add a showcase there's no option to display the showcase title. Having just the image doesn't give context for patrons to know what that leads them to. We would like the option to include the showcase title with each picture.

  9. Add a note in patron's transaction summary to indicate that a payment was made in Vega. For example, when a payment is made in the PAC a note is added to the patron's transaction summary indicating that the payment was made via PAC, as shown in the attached photo. Currently when a payment is made via Vega the note field is left blank not indicating how the payment was made. Ideally, the message should read "Payment made via Vega," but a note of some kind should be generated to indicate how a payment was made.

  10. When there are physical copies of the title available, the shelf location appears on the results page. However, if there are no physical copies on the shelf at any location, that shelf location is hidden and the user must click into a location in order to see the shelf location. It is inconvenient to have that information hidden on the front page.

  12. There's no way to modify the text that appears on the Passcode Reset page for Vega Discover. We've seen some patrons trying to enter their barcode with spaces as it is formatted on their library card which doesn't work. At a minimum, it would be great to indicate on this page to enter "Barcode/Username (no spaces, please)", or even better to have the input field ignore spaces entered. Thanks for the consideration and reducing some of our front line staff headaches.

  13. Have the options to reset PINs via text message. Patrons without an email address in their record get an error message that an email couldn't be sent. There are a lot of patrons who do not like to give out their email, so having the reset link send via text would be useful.

  14. Attached is a screenshot of the a search result for the work "found dogs." Our library has three branches: South, Valley Ranch, and West. South's copy is checked out, and Valley and West's copies are on the shelves. The patron has used the location facet to limit to the WEST branch.

    You'll notice that because South's copy is checked out, the branches are listed as:
    +Valley Ranch|+West|xSouth--South is placed at the end even though it's first alphanetically.

    However, the line of text that displays above this is "On shelf at Valley Ranch" because Valley Ranch precedes West alphabetically.

Currently when you click to go to the next page of search results, you remain at the bottom of the page, which means you have to scroll all the way to the top to view the next page of results, then scroll all the way back down to get back to page navigation to go to the next page. The navigation should either display the top of the search results when the next page is clicked and/or allow the page navigation to be accessed from the top of the page/search results also and not just the bottom of the page/search…

  16. Right now, Vega does not support signup for SMS notifications. We are having to link people out to the old Webpac signup screen. We would love to have SMS signup available in Vega. this is one of the biggest requests we get from our libraries.

  17. As the 245$c field is not indexed we are struggling with how to find authors of translated works. The 775$a often has the anglicized version of the author's name that appears on the cover of a work. This cannot be searched for right now because the 245$c is not indexed. If the 775$a were indexed, this would help.

    Example:
    Title of book: Cursed bunny /|cBora Chung ; translated by Anton Hur.
    The 1XX and 6XX fields is the name authority: Chŏng, Po-ra,|d1976-|eauthor.

    The 775 field is this:

We came across situations where incomplete/unauthorized subject headings (see attached) from suppressed OverDrive API-sourced records are appearing as Topics in the record for the print version of the same title, even when it isn't rolling up with our ILS-sourced econtent record for the same title (see attached). We were told that even though we have our own ILS record for the title with those subject headings removed, and the API record that has those subject headings is suppressed, the content from that suppressed API record is still being passed through to Vega, and it is connected to the print record…
