Patron registration for Sierra libraries: option to include additional fields to registration process
In a recent demo (July 2026) we saw that Polaris libraries can configure additional patron variable/fixed fields to display OR hide in the registration process. This would benefit Sierra libraries as well.
We are used to adding online registrations with a template of various fields that are not included in the current registration.

add magazine issue to My Bookshelf checkouts and holds
Magazine issues do not display in the My Bookshelf checkouts and holds. If someone checks out many issues over a period of a couple of days or weeks, they have no idea which issue may be overdue or coming due.

Improved Blocked Account Display
Currently, if a patron is blocked from borrowing due to too many fines and/or long overdue items they can still place hold requests. This causes issues when the patron comes into the library expecting to be able to check out their held items and is met with a block.
To make it clear to the patron, can there be a pop-up or banner displayed on Discover explaining this so patrons are made aware in the catalog before they place a hold.

Vega Discover Patron Registration page
Patron Registration - patron enters their postcode / zipcode, then Vega displays the associated cities/suburbs based upon that postcode that can be selected.
This option is available in both LEAP and PAC Registration page. It will prevent errors in our patron address data.

Give Libraries the ability to configure whether patrons can add a second email address or telephone number to their account
When a patron adds a second email address or telephone number in Vega Discover, it is stored in a separate field in the Sierra patron record. This can be misleading because Sierra notices are sent only to the first email address or telephone number on the record. Any additional email addresses or telephone numbers are ignored for notices.
Until Sierra notices support sending to multiple email or telephone fields, we want patrons to be able to update their existing email address or telephone number, but not add a second one.

Increase length of title and author in Showcases
The amount of characters for the title and author names is limited (exact number seems to vary) and they are therefore not being completely displayed in Showcases. Can this be increased so in more cases the full title and name is displayed?

configure Discover to parse Sierra patron addresses correctly
Discover does not parse Sierra addresses correctly.
1) New Discover registrations do not parse correctly in Sierra.
2) Existing registrations in Sierra do not parse correctly in Discover. This was the comment by Innovative Staff on this topic:
Discover does have difficulty with parsing Sierra patron addresses, and this is not changing in the July release. For libraries who do allow patrons to edit their own home address, making Discover parse and edit Sierra patron addresses better would require development.2 votes -
Manage hold options should be visible in holds list without selecting a drop down menu
Library users want to be able to see a "freeze" and a "cancel" button when working with individual holds. The original idea for this topic was closed after the July 2026 upgrade, but the behaviour has not changed. I have attached an image.
Also, library users do not want to select drop down menus to manage their individual holds. The ability to freeze, cancel, or edit pickup location should be individual selections.

Display copies in Available statuses first in location drawer
When multiple copies of an item are assigned to the same library branch, the location drawer appears to list them in order of item record ID within the same location (this is also the case in our classic Polaris PAC, not sure how it is in Sierra). We have had feedback from front-line staff that they would like to see copies in Available status listed first, with copies in other statuses listed below. This reasoning makes a lot of sense to me. If a patron is opening the location drawer, it's because they want to know where the item is…

Provide a public API Endpoint or structured Data Export for Showcases
Implement a new function or API endpoint that allows libraries to easily retrieve the structured data (metadata, ID/ISBN, image URL, link) for any active "Showcase". The data should be presented in a standard, machine-readable format like JSON or XML.
While Vega Discover allows us to embed the visual display of a Showcase on other websites, this does not give us the underlying data. This data could be used to include Showcases i mobile apps and integrate with other systems and external analytics tools. They could also be used by patrons to easily keep track of new additions to "permanent" showcases.

Showcase Ordered Alphabetically includes 'The'
When a showcase is opened and it is sorted by title 'The' is not excluded. For example, The Gatsby would be under T when we think it should be under G.

Ability to use facets to refine/filter Showcase results
It would be helpful for patrons to be able to refine Showcase results by selecting facets as in the advanced search (e.g., to filter by availability, location, format, etc.).

Consider $c field when matching visual media for roll-up
Vega BibFrame should consider the 260$c field when matching for roll-up in visual media as often it's the determining indicator between two different versions of film. For example, see "The Italian Job" ... both are Hollywood, CA, Paramount pictures but in different years (1969 and 2003) but because the matchin doesn't consider the $c field, they roll up with each other even though they're very different films.

import saved searches from PowerPAC as well as saved lists
During implementation, saved searches should be imported as well as saved lists when a library requests it. We recently went through Vega implementation and patrons are very disappointed that their saved searches aren't in the Account Portal. While they can recreate the searches, this discourages Vega adoption by a large number of our patrons. They would rather say within the PowerPAC and continue running their searches there.

add 505$t should be included in title search
The 505$t subfield should be included in the title search.
Here is an example of a situation where that is valuable. If a library user is searching for Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" and uses the Title search, they will only find the actual work "Cat's Cradle". However, this book is also contained in short story compilations. They will miss this short story compilation which may better suit their reading needs.

Improve hold position for consortium sites
Could the hold position be refined so that a patron from Library A can see their position in line specifically for their home library’s copies? Leap already supports this—when the holds queue is filtered by the patron’s library, it correctly shows the local position.
For example, The Correspondent currently has 426 holds across the consortium. When I place a hold, Vega shows my position as No. 427 (see screenshot 1). However, my home library has several copies, and in Leap my local position is No. 11 (see screenshot 2).
It would be much clearer for patrons if Vega displayed their…

Include scannable barcode with Patron Profile information
With support ending for the MyLibrary! App, we will be encouraging patrons to use our mobile-friendly Vega Discover Catalogue in a web browser on their device. One thing that will be missed is the ability to click "Show Card" to display a scannable barcode for checking out with staff or at a Self Checkout station. Currently, the barcode number is included in the patron profile but it would be great to add a scannable barcode image there as well.

add On Order facet
Please work with libraries to determine a way to add an "on order" facet. We ingest all bibliographic records before we receive the physical copies. Library users can also place holds on these "on order" bibliographic records. Library users want to distinguish between "recently received" by the library and "recently ordered" by the library.

kids catalog book cover display
The kids homepage carousels force our covers into stretched and awkward sizes (see image). The adult page seems to (1) show the covers larger (2) has less space between titles and (3) adjust to their cover dimensions. The kids looks so jankity.
