Select which titles display on a showcase carousel or collage
We've always used static image collages that mimic Vega's showcase carousels on our Vega Discover homepages. This approach helps us maintain a consistent visual style, especially when cover jackets occasionally appear that don’t match the look and feel we want to present in our catalog. Ideally, we’d love a way to feature specific titles in carousels—with the ability for them to drop off automatically once they're no longer relevant—while still ensuring the layout stays cohesive. Below is an example of one of our static image panels. Allow us to "favorite" titles in our lists somehow through Vega Discover or within…

Showcases should retain bib type focus
When building a Showcase using the "Create from ILS List" function, the resulting list should float the bib type used to create the list to the top for display.
For example, I've created a list of new DVDs and have built a showcase based on that list. The resulting showcase defaults to displaying the Blu-ray tab. Because the ILS list includes the record number, and I know you can link directly to a specific tab using that record number, we should be able to highlight those specific types in the showcase, if not by default, then it should be an…

Titles for Deleted Items in Reading History
In the public catalog, titles in your reading history will say “Resource is not available” if the record has been deleted. In Leap, you can still see the titles, but it will tell you the resource is not available when you click on it. It would be great if Vega Discover could be set up like the staff interface so customers could see what the titles are even after the records have been deleted.

Display all 520 fields in record, not just the first one
We have many titles that are collections of multiple titles, such as Binge Boxes, that are cataloged with multiple 520 (summary) fields to cover all the titles contained in the set. However, only the first MARC 520 summary field displays in Vega, which is difficult for customers who are trying to find all titles contained in the collection. The table of contents is buried in "edition information--details", which is very small and not obvious to the average customer, so they often don't know what titles the collection contains. This is also true for some short story collections and CD compilations.…

Make it easier to add a single title to more than one showcase.
Improve the staff function for creating bookmark lists to make it easier to add a title to multiple lists without increasing clicks required for adding a title to one list or remove a title from a list.

Add COPPA to patron registration
Currently when someone applies through our Vega link (which goes to PowerPAC) for a library card and their name matches an existing cardholder, they get the following error message: "A patron with this name is already registered. Please contact the library for clarification."
It would be helpful if other fields could be cross-checked for duplicates, not just the first and last names. We receive numerous reports of this monthly from staff across the consortium, but we have no sense of how often it's actually happening.8 votes -
Support 024 7 for danacode searches (Hebrew items)
Several of our libraries collect materials in Hebrew, and almost all of those items have a danacode as a unique identifier. Some also have an ISBN but many don't, and their only identifier is the danacode, which is found in the 024 (with first indicator 7 in most cases, but sometimes 8 when the 'scannable' danacode is listed also).
However, when you try to search Vega by danacode, it doesn't work. It works without any problems in Polaris and in the old PAC.
A previous idea that was completed (for 024 3) stated: "As we see it, the obvious solution…

Wording for Cookie Preferences
The current wording for the cookies is not clear to patrons. Clicking on "Manage Cookie Preferences" displays a pop-up that doesn't actually give the user any option to manage their preferences. It also includes some wording that says "the types of cookies we use are described below" without actually describing them. At the very least, a clearer description about what the strictly necessary cookies are that are being used would be helpful.

Changes to Vega Passthrough Search
In Vega Discover, when executing a passthrough search, the external link icon is used as a button. This UI is confusing to patrons, who are expecting the catalog name to be the link or looking for a button that looks more like the other buttons on the page.
When the passthrough search only has one option, the option is a link, and that behavior is preferred. On the resource page, when there are more than one option, the external link icon appears, and the behavior is different. Our collection sites have more than one option, while the full collection Vega…13 votes -
Account Portal notification information should distinguish between phone call and text message
The "Preferred Contact Method" section in Account Portal displays a phone number with "Home phone" or "Mobile phone" prepended to it if the patron is signed up to receive phone calls or text messages. However, the "Home phone" and "Mobile phone" prefix don't correlate to whether the patron is receiving calls or texts, it's determined solely by which phone number field is being used in the ILS or by the order in which the patron has added/removed phone numbers in Account Portal.
Please update how this information is displayed so that patrons can tell which notification method they are actually…

Improved User Access Management
As a System Administrator managing over 100 Collection Sites, identifying which assets a user has access to requires manually checking each site. This is prohibitively time-consuming and leads to errors when editing, auditing, or deleting user accounts and Collection Sites. A Centralized User Access Management feature would help to efficiently audit and manage user permissions across all associated Vega Discover assets (Collection Sites, Kiosks, and Showcases).
Ideally, the feature should allow staff to:
1. Select a User.
2. View a comprehensive list of all associated Collection Sites, Kiosks, and Showcases the user has access to.
3. Manage those access points…1 vote -

Add a call number index for searching
After testing a few call number searches, we are realizing that this feature would work best if there were an index for call number searching, to prevent erroneous results from appearing in the list. For example, if I want to search JUST Dewey call numbers of 300, I don't want to retrieve the movie with the title "300". Also, for our world language materials, we use call numbers to distinguish between Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and we are getting a lot of additional results with the keywords "Traditional" and "Chinese" in the bib. records. We want to be able…

Allow for non-MARC language codes
For a better customer experience with our Chinese titles, we created some new non-MARC language codes in Sierra to separate out the Simplified and Traditional Chinese titles. Vega does not support non-MARC language codes, so it shows as codes instead of the label in Vega.
We'd like to see Vega be able to pull codes from the LMS along with their label.

Serials: Issue Selection Modal box
When searching for Serials within Vega, and attempting to Place Holds, we'd like to point out / suggest two things:
• Add a Select All option and/or individual checkboxes on each issue (add ability to place bulk hold for multiple serials)
• Address the empty Search results modal / dialog box, since it gives users no feedback on what they're seeing when there are no matching results. It should at least show "Your Search Returned (0) results" or something.Attached first screenshot show a typical list of serials with the individual Place Hold buttons. This is where it would be…

Include Call Number in Checkout Summary
We would like the checkout summary in Discover to have a call number column like it does in the PAC. Some libraries use the call number to store information for linked uncataloged items. Please see the two attached examples.

Showcases created from saved searches should appear on the Resource page.
Currently, Showcases that you create from saved searches don't appear on the Resource page. Since showcases created from an ILS list don't automatically update their content, Saved Searches are in many cases the best option. So it would be great to have these Showcases appear on the Resource page.

Limit loan period of renewal if patron's account will expire during renewal.
Currently our settings for patrons renewing their loans via Discover are overly simple--if the setting allows them to renew their items, you can choose yes or no to allow them to renew when their account is expiring during the renewed loan. If the renewal period could be limited to the expiry of the patron account, it would provide a good opportunity to remind patrons that they need to renew their account.

Community Tags
In Encore, libraries had the ability to add Community Tags. These were quite useful in searching for topics that aren't traditional LC Subject Headings. For example, on our website, we have a link to Kids Resources on various topics like "potty training" as a community tag, the LC heading is "toilet training". Or "healthy eating". We also have Award winners as tags - Caudill, Monarch, Bluestem award winners.
