Add Help Text for Nickname
Add Help Text for the Nickname Field to explain what it does to a patron's profile display.

We have a report of a patron assuming editing the nickname in the profile would edit the username. It doesn't and it is confusing to have it there without knowing what it is supposed to do. We did find that it is useful for identifying the owner of a showcase and of course changing the logged in name; however, non of this is really clear. Don't display series info for things that aren't true series
Right now, when you search something like Jane Eyre (see screenshot), which has multiple editions, some of which are part of a "series", Vega Discover arbitrarily displays one of those series statements in the roll-up. We would like it to NOT display the series info when it doesn't apply to all editions of a work, since the roll-up is supposed to reflect what all the editions have in common, not just one particular edition's series info. Use Patron ID for Patron Account Information such as LISTs in Vega Discover
When patrons get a new barcode they currently lose access to their lists in Vega Discover. Lists should be tied to the PATRON ID not the barcode. Barcodes are temporary, IDs are the persistent identifier for a patron account and should not change.
Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

Add "Select All", "Add to List" and "Place Holds" buttons to the bottom of the search results.
The bulk holds and bulk bookmarking features are very helpful. This would be more user-friendly if the "Select All", "Add to List" and "Place Holds" buttons were repeated at the bottom of the page. This would allow the user to scroll down through the list and make selections and then act upon those selections when they reach the bottom of the page, before clicking on to the next page.

Allow custom DNS sites to use /staff for access
We leverage discover.rhpl.org for our Vega Discover Premium catalog access but to access our staff portal we have to remember to use https://rhpl.na3.iiivega.com/staff/
Please allow premium users leveraging custom DNS to use their custom domain for /staff access as well.

Update the Current Vega On Order Logic to include Suppressed Status Items
The current Vega On Order logic allows the library to select Material Types that will show a status of On Order when there are no items attached. The problem is that for older titles sometimes all the attached items have a status that we suppress from display because it's not useful to the patrons such as: Missing, Withdrawn, Damaged, Lost, etc. These items, because they are suppressed from display will cause this title to show up as ON ORDER when it's actually not and may be weeded from the collection soon. Support custom Header and Footer code on the 404 (page not found page)
We would like any custom header and footer code to be active/enabled on the 404 page. This would add a seamless user experience no matter where the patron ends up on the website.

Material type sorting to show physical copies and DVDs first
Currently, Vega sorts book, eBook, large print, audio CD, and eAudio. I'm proposing we change this to book, large print, audio CD, then digital resources. Most patrons search for digital media via Libby rather than the main online catalog.
Additionally, putting DVDs before Blu-Ray would help lower the amount of patrons accidentally ordering Blu-Ray when they really wanted the DVD. Re-ordering this would lower the amount of accidental hold requests for the wrong media type.

Hold Cancelation Settings Enhancements
Add logic to Hold Cancelation Button so that:
1. Holds that cannot be canceled do not display a cancel hold button.
a. Particularly ILL type requests should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display. Or to only allow until the ILL is shipped.
b. Expired holds should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display.

Add Shelf Location to Find a Copy All Location View
We received an idea to possibly redesign the "Find a Copy" menu so that viewing shelf locations would no longer need the user to click the library that they are searching for resulting in two clicks to see that information.
"You have to click on the library name itself in order to get a full picture of where an item is. It's an extra unnecessary step"

Showcases - Adding in an Alt Text Option for Custom Uploaded Images
Currently the alt text that is added to showcases (specifically on the Image Panels option in Showcase Groups) is not detailed enough. It would be helpful for accessibility needs to be able to include our own alternate text for custom uploaded images.

Don't use Serials Holdings Records (SHRs) as an indication of of availability
Items that have zero item records but have Polaris SHRs on "Not currently Received " status show that they are "on shelf" at the branches with the SHRs even though there are no items at any of the branches. This had lead to patrons coming in looking for standing orders/ serial titles etc. that are not there.

Curser Defaults to Search Box On Arrrival
Right now when patrons go to Discover they need to click on the search bar before searching. We suggest it should be like Google (or any other search engine), when the page loads you can start typing your search.

Scholastic Reading Levels in Vega Discover
Adding the Scholastic Reading Level to a books within Vega Discover as an option for patrons and staff could prove to be helpful. Scholastic Reading Levels are used in some schools so allowing for that variety can be helpful for patrons to choose items that will be made for them.

Ingest Name Authority Records into Vega Discover
I think that ingesting name authority records into Vega Discover would improve capturing name tracings in the 400 field, so that for example if Samuel Langhorne Clemens is searched, Mark Twain's works will also appear etc.

Advanced Search
Currently the advanced search option is pretty unhelpful for patrons. All it really does is define what a Boolean search is and not particularly in a way that makes sense to someone who doesn't already have knowledge of what a Boolean search is. Advanced search needs to bring people to a place where they are given more guidance with multiple search boxes to help guide them more. It needs to make sense to patrons who have no clue how Boolean operators work or even what they are, not for librarians who were taught about this in school.

Maintain Custom URL During Password Resets etc.
We use a custom URL search.bccls.org that patrons are accustomed to. When they go to do a password reset or other account related things they are redirected to the na4 URL which causes concern. We would like to submit an idea that custom URLs remain consistent throughout the Vega Discover experience.
