  1. Patrons currently lack the ability to add or modify the "username" field value (Polaris Registration field with Polaris) in Vega Discover. Historically, patrons had this capability, but after updating to Vega Discover, we disabled it due to its non-editable nature. However, due to significant feedback from patrons, we have re-enabled this feature. Please note that enabling it now requires manual IT intervention through SQL adjustments. Once we transition to a hosted environment, this manual adjustment will no longer be feasible. Therefore, it's crucial for patron access to our catalog, public machines, and express check that this functionality remains intact.

  2. We have noticed several instances where unrelated titles roll-up together. We have noticed it the most in travel books. It seems to be a problem whenever we don't use a 1XX Marc Fields in a record and several items have the same 245, or in records where the 1XX field and 245 are the same but are in fact different books. Travel books are a problem, but I've seen this in items where there is a adult and juvenile or teen version of an item, where a classic book has a graphic novelization or even in two completely unrelated items…

  3. We have several multi-volume titles (graphic novels, travel guides, etc.) along with Library of Things title records that involve varying items owned by the same library requiring different call numbers and we’re finding some instances of Vega showing call number information of different copies depending on window of a rollup (main title work rollup, “Find a Copy” window, when clicking a specific library in list after clicking on “Find a Copy”) resulting in some confusion of library members and patron. To be consistent across at least the first two windows would be helpful. Please see attached for example.

  4. We understand that we are already supposed to be able to place volume level holds on materials. (It's not working for us, even when we have the volume info entered correctly, so we have reported it as a bug.) However, our staff and patrons would also like the ability for patrons to be able to place item level holds when there is NO volume info entered and the record is NOT a periodical or other serial.

  5. A small handful of our libraries have reported issues copying barcodes and BibID's from Vega's lightbox and pasting into Sierra. Apparently irregular expressions like a new line can sometimes be selected and Sierra will not paste anything afterward; giving these staff members the impression that nothing copied over.

We've explained that they can double-click the text to select only it but it would be helpful if there was a dedicated copy to clipboard button next to these fields to minimize confusion.

An example implementation would be https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_copy_clipboard.asp

  6. Please enhance the functionality of pickup areas in Leap/PAC according to this idea: https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951742-ils-polaris/suggestions/47671613-allow-enabling-disabling-of-pickup-areas-per-libra

Then add the functionality to Vega Discover!

  9. Our customers want the ability to export their reading history. There should be options in the format it comes out in, including csv/excel.

They want this because they keep their own records due to our titles getting deleted after withdrawal, so their Vega list is no longer accurate for all their reading.

  11. Sort order of attached items should match the sort order in Sierra. Series can then display is order by volume not by date published which results in displaying the last volume first.

  12. Keep the search bar throughout ALL Discover pages. Similar to Google or any search engine - it should always be at the top and would make searching more convenient because it would avoid having to navigate back to the home page of the catalog.

  13. We think it is very important to provide patrons the option to Select Items to Renew, which would display checkboxes in front of each item for the patron to select multiple checkboxes to renew together.

  14. We use a custom URL search.bccls.org that patrons are accustomed to. When they go to do a password reset or other account related things they are redirected to the na4 URL which causes concern. We would like to submit an idea that custom URLs remain consistent throughout the Vega Discover experience.

  15. Currently, you have to select "Apply" for limiting your search with facets. Most websites these days automatically apply filters/facets, making auto-apply something our patrons are used to using.

  16. It would be much more helpful for us if we saw the current default icons for each format type when we look at the "ILS Material Type to Work Level Roll Up Mapping" chart (see attached). We have no way of knowing what the "default" icon is for some of these formats, so we would have to do a search one by one in grid view to see what each format is by default. The chart should display the current default icon either next to or instead of the word "default" and there could be an option at the top…

  17. It has been requested to index volume record statements to be searchable as it was in Encore. We have local generic bibliographic records that to input alternate titles or other added entries in the bib record would not appropriate; however, if volume statements were searchable, patrons and library members alike could locate desired resources.

  18. The filter options that are currently available in Vega don't allow patrons to search by video game platform. We would like to see a new filter or a subfilter for the Format facet that would allow users to refine the search results by console/platform. In our catalog a game like Overcooked, which has multiple editions for Nintendo Switch, XBox, and PlayStation consoles, brings up 14 different results that a patron would need to click into to find the platform for each. With a platform filter they could select Nintendo Switch and apply that to the search to end up with…

  19. Currently, when you allow patrons to edit patron profile fields like Email address, phone numbers, etc., you can Edit and Add. We don't want our patrons to Add in some cases, like Email, because when the patron does this in Vega, that means an additional z-tagged field in the record. Until Vega allows LX notices to go to more than 1 z-tagged field, we don't want patrons adding one and then wondering why they didn't get the notice to the e-mail address they just added. It's confusing. So if there was a check box for "Edit" and a check box…

  20. As of now Vega doesn´t look at the order records in the ILS. We have set the system to allow holds on bib-records with no items attached for books. That in turn displays "On order" in Vega. This method has some complications but works for the most part since there usually are orders on these bibs. But we would like it to also display how many items are ordered. It helps inform our patrons if it´s worth placing a hold on the title.

In the example (offer) I´ve included we have a new book with 8 copies ordered. If that…
