  1. Vega uses the newest edition of a book to retrieve the cover image from Syndetics. However the rest of the display data is not necessarily related to this newest book edition/instance record. For consistency, the Syndetics widget data and the displayed work metadata (author, title, 520 summary) should all be based on that same instance record.

  2. We would like to have the option to suppress the patron's holds position in the queue from displaying. We don't have it display in our current PAC and we don't want it to display in Vega either due to it being misleading since the algorithm prioritizes a library's own patrons first which often changes the order.

  4. We use a staff account to create curated lists we can send to patrons as part of a personalized reader's advisory program. We've noticed that the high number of lists (>350) is creating marked slow-down and functionality issues in Vega Discover when logged into this account. We were told the number of lists is likely causing the issue. Consider creating the ability for staff to have high-content accounts for situations like this.

  5. Since some libraries in our consortium are fine free and others are not, patrons would like to know what library owns the item(s) they have checked out as to avoid unnecessary fines. Or they may simply like to return it to the owning library to save delivery work. Generally, it is good information to have visible to patrons.

  6. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  7. Due to the Marrakesh treaty the 341 and 532 tags were created to make accessibility tags for print disabled patrons. Vega should enable the tags to make these tags available in Vega. I am attaching a sample from the National Network for equitable library services as an example.

    There are also sometimes additional titles within this part of the field. Subfield ǂc includes all information following the first slash.

  9. We'd like to be able to look back and see what we promoted on Vega Homepage (esp. if we promised promotion for something).

    With scheduled homepage layouts (https://portal.productboard.com/iii/15-vega-product-portal/c/772-in-beta-schedule-publishing-in-the-home-page-builder), we would like to keep track of what showcase blocks we have scheduled in the future as well as those already published (past events), ideally viewable in a way (table?) with what is included in the Showcase Block Settings - for example, title, start date and time, end date and time.   10. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).

  12. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

    For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

Super frustrating to not be able to create a book list for displays or patrons needing a large amount of materials on a certain subject, and also not being able to easily print the list with the call number included.   15. Patrons don't often think about cancelling a hold until they have received a notice. By that time, it is already in transit or on the holds shelf. This is often when they want to cancel, but cannot. There is an idea listed about suppressing the Cancel option for items that cannot be cancelled. This would be a partial solution, but for our library, the true need is to allow patrons to cancel items that have already been trapped for them.

  16. When using the hold shelf functions of IMMS (Intelligent material Management System), customers are unable to see in Vega which hold shelf their items are ready to pickup on.

    Workarounds are required by staff to fill this gap, and customers are encouraged to use other applications which does show this information.

    It would be great to have the hold shelf placement details displayed in Vega, for items ready for pickup.

  17. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).

  18. On Order items and non-circulating items with holdings records (e.g. newspapers) do not appear in the search results on collection sites for consortia setup. Rather, they only appear in the search results for the global site.

  19. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

    If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

  20. I think the patron's would be better served if the hyperlink of an author's name went directly to the other items they have written and to NOT go to an author page. I feel like more patrons want to simply see other works by the author and not read a wannabe Wikipedia page.
