Allow for additional 3rd Party Integration
It would be great if 3rd Party Integrations for other providers could be developed for Vega Discover. For international libraries it would drastically improve the user experience if local databases could be connected for reviews (ex. Chilifresh) and author information (ex. Alex Författarlexikon here in Sweden).

Increase the number of showcases that can be added to a Hero Carousel
We feel the Hero Carousel is a good way to highlight items that do not have a cover image (ex. digital content such as streamed video).
However, it is currently limited to 5 showcases/URLs. It would be great if the number could be increased.

Allow SMS notification signup from Vega
Right now, Vega does not support signup for SMS notifications. We are having to link people out to the old Webpac signup screen. We would love to have SMS signup available in Vega. this is one of the biggest requests we get from our libraries.

Ask Us feature
Please provide an Ask Us feature similar to the one in the classic catalogue. Some libraries do have a contact email address listed in the library info dropdown, but others don't, and our patrons use the Ask Us feature regularly.

Vega Admin - Locations lists
We are a system with a single listing for both Level 1 and Level 2, and all of our 'locations' (and future/placeholder locations) are Level 3.
1 - Level 1
2 - Level 2
3 - Library Name - Level 3
4 - Library Name - Level 3
5 - Library Name - Level 3We had intentionally placed our internal services 'locations' at the end of the list so they would be less likely to be interfiled with our listed locations.
These locations seem to be sorted by digit (1, 10, 11, 12) even when its number isn't listed,…

Change the website title of Passcode Reset webpage in Vega
To avoid potential patron confusion the ability to change the Vega website title from Welcome to Vega to something specific to your library when opening the Forgot My Passcode link would be helpful. For example, it might read "Library Name/Abbreviation Passcode Reset," which should eliminate any doubts about the nature of the webpage.

Showcase Display
We would like more automated showcase displays like the NYT Bestsellers. Since we are in Canada, we specifically would like to see the Globe & Mail Bestsellers as an option.

Require login to bookmark
We've received several tickets from our member libraries reporting that patrons' bookmarked items aren't being saved. It seems this happens because patrons are bookmarking items while logged out. Although Vega does display a warning that users need to log in to save bookmarks, we believe user errors could be minimized if the option to bookmark items were only available after confirming the user is logged in.

Titles for Deleted Items in Reading History
In the public catalog, titles in your reading history will say “Resource is not available” if the record has been deleted. In Leap, you can still see the titles, but it will tell you the resource is not available when you click on it. It would be great if Vega Discover could be set up like the staff interface so customers could see what the titles are even after the records have been deleted.

Social sharing of lists
Expand the current social sharing via X and Facebook to add Instagram, as many libraries have Instagram presence.

Passcode Reset Clarification or Enhancement
There's no way to modify the text that appears on the Passcode Reset page for Vega Discover. We've seen some patrons trying to enter their barcode with spaces as it is formatted on their library card which doesn't work. At a minimum, it would be great to indicate on this page to enter "Barcode/Username (no spaces, please)", or even better to have the input field ignore spaces entered. Thanks for the consideration and reducing some of our front line staff headaches.

Citation export improvements
Some suggestions for the citation export in Vega:
1. RIS export only - Repeats the first AU field in A1. Solution: Remove A1 field from RIS, or first AU field if always identical to A1
2. RIS export and in-Vega citation - Edition (ET) includes all MARC 250 subfields when only subfield a (Edition statement) is necessary. Solution: Ideally just take first word of 250 $a, less ideally take all of 250 $a only. (Note: Endnote auto-generates the rest based on citation style e.g. takes first word "Eighth" and auto-generates following word: edition, ed., etc.)
3. RIS export and in-Vega…1 vote -
Correctly Incorporate ISBD Punctuation in Title display
This is a problem that impacts AACR2 records, including a significant quantity of e-resources, government and vendor supplied bibliographic records>
Punctuation between subfields is treated as part of the subfield itself, causing irregularities in the display of several fields.
The way Vega removes the $h [GMD] from the MARC 245 field, and $b is present, the ISBD punctuation is also removed. {a [h] : b} becomes {a b}, some examples {a [h] / c} becomes {a } the : or / following the $h is added to the Genre field
According to ISBD rules the colon preceding the additional title…

Add APA to citation options
In our part of the world, APA is mostly used for citations. We would like to see this added to the format list alongside the existing MLA and Chicago.

Add Google Translate plug in
Google translate currently works on Vega, but there is not a way to add the plug in to the header. Vega only has a limited amount of language translations built into the site. We want to give our patrons the ability to translate the site into additional languages.

Add shelf location to library holdings for each edition
We would like to have the option to include the shelf location for each item that is listed within each edition. It is much easier to identify when an item is, for example, a New item when a patron happens to be looking at holdings in this way.

please include 775 $a in Bibframe Concept: Agent (for translated works)
As the 245$c field is not indexed we are struggling with how to find authors of translated works. The 775$a often has the anglicized version of the author's name that appears on the cover of a work. This cannot be searched for right now because the 245$c is not indexed. If the 775$a were indexed, this would help.
Example:
Title of book: Cursed bunny /|cBora Chung ; translated by Anton Hur.
The 1XX and 6XX fields is the name authority: Chŏng, Po-ra,|d1976-|eauthor.The 775 field is this:
ireproduction of (manifestation):|aChung, Bora, 1976-|tCursed bunny|dHandforth : Honford Star, 2021|z9781916277182Please index the…

Stop including subject headings from suppressed API-sourced econtent records
We came across situations where incomplete/unauthorized subject headings (see attached) from suppressed OverDrive API-sourced records are appearing as Topics in the record for the print version of the same title, even when it isn't rolling up with our ILS-sourced econtent record for the same title (see attached). We were told that even though we have our own ILS record for the title with those subject headings removed, and the API record that has those subject headings is suppressed, the content from that suppressed API record is still being passed through to Vega, and it is connected to the print record…

Cover Art for Rollups
With multiple records rolling up, sometimes the default cover art image isn't necessarily the most appropriate (i.e. showing a very specific version of Hamlet that not all libraries own rather than a more generic version). Since Vega is pulling the cover art from the record with the most recent copyright/publishing date, the only way to prevent an image from populating is to falsify the 020 in the most recent record (I've been in touch with Syndetics about this). It would be nice if there was a way that libraries could a) manually select a different image if needed, b) remove…

Add a "view all" option to the Site Configuration page in the Library Defaults menu
In a consortium environment the admin staff will often have to make changes to every library in its system. Having the option to view all the libraries in one page instead of 10 at a time. The addition of having the option to "open in a new tab" when right-clicking the Edit button under actions would be helpful as well to keep organized as the current system of going back to the Library Defaults page can sometimes cause confusion when navigating back to the next library.
