  1. We would like to see the subfield q of the 020 field displayed next to the ISBN so users can tell which material types are included in a record. This was visible in the old PAC within the Full Display view (attached).

  2. We'd like the ability for patrons to link their existing library card account with other authentication platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Linkedin, Facebook, etc.. This would provide ease of sign-in and enhanced security through features like multi-factor authentication (MFA). Patrons would register their existing library account with one of these integrations if they decided to move to this method. This has become common enough across the web that we've had patrons specifically ask for the ability to login with their Apple or Google account.

  3. When a checked out OverDrive item is viewed in Vega's "My Bookshelf," the user is given the option to "check in" the item using a button to the left of the listing. Clicking a caret to the right of the button makes an additional button, "get item," appear which, when clicked, allows the user to choose how they would like to view the item (read in Kindle, read in browser, download ePub or PDF, etc).   4. We'd like to have ability to change the mapping of the Audn: Target audience (BKS, COM, REC, SCO, VIS: 008/22; 006/05) to a specific age group facet. For example, many catalog records have a blank assigned for target audience. Search results will include these records but they fall out when the "general" facet is selected. We do not want to manipulate these records to "g" when [blank] is a valid option. Also, we'd like the ability to group the target audience a (preschool), b (primary), and c (pre-adolescent) under j (juvenile) without manipulating the catalog records in our database.

  5. We've had customers and staff point out that at times, shelf location information could be more visible in Vega results. In particular, we wondered if it would be possible to use bold type for the shelf location information on the search result page on the kiosk sites, in addition to the call number.

    Also, when you go to the detailed information that lists the call number, collection, and shelf location information, we thought perhaps, when the shelf location information is available, it might help if it was listed above the call number.

  6. We use Polaris and our old catalog showed the number of renewals remaining/available for patrons. We've heard from patrons and staff that this would be appreciated versus the current view (number of renewals taken). Thanks for considering!

  7. Include additional contributors in the expanded details display for the individual manifestations (MARC 700), this is especially important when multiple versions are rolled up together.

    Currently, all added contributors for all versions are displayed at the bottom of the page of the roll-up and it is hard to find and identify specific translations or audio-book narrators. This also results in a work with multiple authors only having the first one recognized

  8. Please add select boxes next to each title in grid view to allow users to use bulk holds while viewing search results in that view.

    The "Select All" and "Place holds" options appear at the top of the search page in grid view, but there are no select boxes for individual titles. It would be great to have select boxes appear in grid view. If this can't be done, it would probably be better to not include the Select All and Place holds options in this view either since not being able to select individual titles makes this feel broken.

  10. Currently when the OPACMSG is changed from [NEW] to [--] in the item record it does not change the view in Discover. For Discover to reflect this change, you must suppress and then unsuppress the bib and then run a record extraction. Our patrons/staff use this message to know whether they are to look on the NEW display or in the stacks.

We plan to experiment with customized code to build this feature, but it would be ideal to have the option to add a customizable text bubble at the top of specific showcases within the 'Audience Theme' set to 'Children.' This bubble could be edited by library staff.   13. In the "more in this series" area provided by syndetics, a grey cover image is displayed if the title does not exist in the collection. This creates confusion for the patron who sees a title that isn't there. When clicked on, it takes the patron to a keyword search, which creates even more confusion. We would like this to be optional. Right now, there is no way to turn off grey cover images without taking away a large part of Discover functionality.   14. It is standard website practice — and has been for over 15 years — to upload a sitemap for google and other search engines to ingest. This ability would help Google and others to index the catalog's contents within Vega, improving search result rankings (i.e. SEO) for Vega Discover catalog content.

  15. Users have requested a "Select" option when viewing checkouts, holds, etc. in My Bookshelf. Ideally, this option would behave the same way it works in Innovative Mobile; users would be able to specify multiple titles and then renew them at the same time. The "bulk renew" option that was recently added to Vega Discover sort of addressed this, but users want to be able to select specific titles.

Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

  18. Integrate into Vega the capability for patrons to create their own notifications using advanced search filtering. For example, patrons could choose to receive a text through IPA:SMS whenever a specific author releases new material at our library. Additionally, they could opt to receive a weekly email with a predefined search filter, such as Availability (At Library), Format (Book), Collection (Adult Non-Fiction), New Material (This week), focusing on the topic "Nature".
