Right-click on covers to open in a new tab
When looking at an item record in Vega Discover, patrons should be able to right click on titles to open in a new tab (e.g., in the list of You May Also Like, Related Resources, Topics, etc.). Right now, patrons have to click on the title to open the record, see if we have it and where it's located. If they want to look at another title, they have to use the back button then wait for the page to refresh again, scroll down, and repeat.

Augment Vega search functionality
We conducted a test search for the following book title term:
fable haven
(The actual book / series title is Fabelhaven)It returns 13 results in our catalog, none of which are Fablehaven, nor did it suggest a “Did you mean fablehaven?" (Searching "fable haven" in quotes as an exact search returns 0 results, as it should).
It seems that the Vega search engine should be able to find relevant search results when this term is combined into one word, or should at least suggest “Did you mean fablehaven” in the case of searching fable haven as two words and…

Topics (subject headings) should link to a list that can be refined
When you click on a subject heading that appears under "Topics" on a resource page to find other similar resources, it would be better for the results to display as a search results list so that you can further refine the list.
Staff often start with a particular title, then look for appropriate subjects to link to other relevant resources for a patron and they would like to be able to apply other filters (particularly Availability and Location but other facets would be useful too) to refine the list of resources.
Currently, when you click on a heading, you are…

Add most popular items sort option
Edited by Samantha C October 6, 2025 after release of Title and Author sort options
We would like too add more sorting options to Vega Discover when on the results screen after doing a search. The options that are listed above for example will help with bringing the most relevant titles to the top of the results based on the user's searching preferences. This will promote giving users more options for better discovery.

Remove routing codes from locations in item display
We have libraries complain that patron are confused due to the routing codes being present after the owning library in the Vega display (see screenshot).
It would be great if we can somehow mask this, or add the locations to the translation file to get rid of this display.

Custom domain forwarding shown on Vega Discover sites configuration page
We would like the ability to see our custom domain links directly on the Vega Sites configuration page. While we understand that adding new custom domain links may not be within our control, it would be extremely helpful to have the existing reference links displayed on this page. Currently, we rely on memory and archived emails between support staff to track these links, but having them visible within the configuration page would provide a more streamlined and efficient experience. Attached is a visual reference.

Add shelf locations to Facets
We would like to have shelf location added as a facet in Vega in addition to collections. We use shelf locations for genres like Mystery, Urban Fiction, Science Fiction, and Graphic Novels that aren't reflected in our collection codes. There is currently no way for patrons to search by shelf location in Vega, so it's very frustrating for patrons trying to look for just Graphic Novels, for example. We would rather have shelf locations added as a facet than have to change all of our shelf locations to collections.

Volume in series searching by number
Can you possibly index the volume sub field within the record in order to make the searching of books within a series a bit more efficient? For example, searching Dog Man 6 and getting volume 6 of Dog Man within our results.

More obvious cookie prompt.
It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

Edition Info Availability - to not use “on order” if no items available and no open orders attached
If there are no circulating items available and there are no open orders attached, we would like the status in edition information to display as not available instead of on order. On order is confusing when there are no open orders attached to the bib.

Display Material Type in Find a Copy view
We would like to see the Material Type (from Polaris) for each item in the Find a Copy view (attached) like it displays in the current PAC (attached).

Resolve eContent not rolluping up due to articles
Most OverDrive titles beginning with an article (The, A, An) do not rollup properly due to Metadata not identifying a skip on these characters. As a main feature of Discover, it is frustrating that such a large amount of titles do not rollup with properly cataloged physical materials.

Can't see how many Overdrive copies exist
When I check to see how many copies of an Overdrive title the library has, you can only see how many holds have been placed on that title, but not how many copies there are. This causes confusion because it seems like the library has no copies of that title. In the attached picture example, you can see that the 'Atomic Habits' eAudiobook has 48 holds on it, but it says there are no copies. There are actually 5 copies. This issue is true with every Overdrive title, except for when the title is available to check out.

All metadata and content displayed for a work should use the same instance ISBN
Vega uses the newest edition of a book to retrieve the cover image from Syndetics. However the rest of the display data is not necessarily related to this newest book edition/instance record. For consistency, the Syndetics widget data and the displayed work metadata (author, title, 520 summary) should all be based on that same instance record.

Allow the hold note field to be used by Vega patrons when requesting a material
This has a multitude of reasons why this can be helpful. In our case use, patrons let us know in the hold note field that they wish to pick up their materials through the drive through.

Separate physical and digital checkouts and holds in MyBookshelf
Users would like to see physical materials listed separately from digital materials in Checkouts and Holds lists, or the ability to filter your list to see only physical or only digital checkouts/holds.

Make Shelf Location more visible in Vega Discover
We've had customers and staff point out that at times, shelf location information could be more visible in Vega results. In particular, we wondered if it would be possible to use bold type for the shelf location information on the search result page on the kiosk sites, in addition to the call number.
Also, when you go to the detailed information that lists the call number, collection, and shelf location information, we thought perhaps, when the shelf location information is available, it might help if it was listed above the call number.
Thanks for your consideration!

author page hyperlink improvements
I think the patron's would be better served if the hyperlink of an author's name went directly to the other items they have written and to NOT go to an author page. I feel like more patrons want to simply see other works by the author and not read a wannabe Wikipedia page.
