  1. Our library currently leverages OAuth 2.0 with Google as our identity provider to authenticate librarians into Polaris LEAP. We would like to request the ability to integrate this same OAuth 2.0 (or SAML)/Google authentication workflow with Vega Discover. Since we understand that Vega Discover utilizes Keycloak on the backend, this integration should be technically feasible through Keycloak's identity brokering capabilities, where Keycloak would act as an intermediary between Vega Discover and our Google identity provider. This would allow our librarians to use their existing Google credentials to access Vega Discover, maintaining consistency across our library systems while providing centralized user…

  2. Currently, patrons can click 'I forgot my passcode' on the Vega login menu, but the following page references an 'email address' as the required information to reset their PIN, while it actually requires a barcode. Please provide libraries with the option to edit this language to accurately reflect the PIN reset process or allow this page to redirect to a library-hosted webpage for further instructions.

  3. Vega only displays the first series tag (490, 800|t, 830) in a bibliographic record. There are many scenarios where a title may have multiple series tags for good reason. ALL series tags should display. A work may be titled the Boxcar children collection 3 and contain various volumes of the Boxcar children series, each tagged individually. To only display the first series tag (vol. 89) is misleading. There are also many instances of a popular numbered series also being part a publisher genre series (example for Iced by Felix Francis: Francis novels ; bk. 10 and Thorndike Press large print…

  4. When patrons try to place a hold on something they already have placed a hold on, instead of getting a message that they already have a hold, they receive the message,
"Your request for this material was unsuccessful
Couldn't find suitable edition for the request"

We would like to be able to edit this message to let them know they already have a hold and cannot place a second hold on the same record.

  5. It would be nice if adult books (even those with relatively low reading levels) returned Reading Level readalikes of other adult books (rather than j titles). James Patterson's "The House of Kennedy" is an adult title, Vega indicates that the publisher's recommended age and grade range is 18+ years, yet the reading level suggestions include Dog Man/Pilkey and the Good Egg/Jory John

  6. I think that ingesting name authority records into Vega Discover would improve capturing name tracings in the 400 field, so that for example if Samuel Langhorne Clemens is searched, Mark Twain's works will also appear etc.

  7. Currently when a hold activation date in the future is set, the only indication in the holds list is that the hold says Frozen. Nowhere does it list the activation date that was set for it. This date should display for the patron, and they should also be able to change that date to a different date in the future, not just unfreeze it and then refreeze it as of the current date.

  8. We have a patron request to simplify the number of location and availability icons. Patrons are often confused and upset by the icons. They are upset at being confused, and eating up their time. The in-house availability icon is too small and gets lost on the page. The larger, initial icon causes a lot of confusion with seniors, parents, infrequent library uses.

  11. For example blaf - Level 1 is bl = LINC Library Innovation Center, since we're a multi branch we need this in the Locations facet.

But now for the af = adult fiction, we would like this to be a separate facet like we did in Encore.

  12. When patrons get a new barcode they currently lose access to their lists in Vega Discover. Lists should be tied to the PATRON ID not the barcode. Barcodes are temporary, IDs are the persistent identifier for a patron account and should not change.

Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

  15. We have several customers that use genre headings (655 field) to find materials. For example, "video recordings for the hearing impaired" helps deaf and hard-of-hearing customers locate DVDs with closed captioning. This is not a searchable field in Vega and there does not seem to be a way to find this information anywhere on the record.

  16. Add Help Text for the Nickname Field to explain what it does to a patron's profile display.

    Hi,

We have a report of a patron assuming editing the nickname in the profile would edit the username. It doesn't and it is confusing to have it there without knowing what it is supposed to do. We did find that it is useful for identifying the owner of a showcase and of course changing the logged in name; however, non of this is really clear. We think it would make the profile settings more understandable to have a ? icon with a…

  17. Right now, when you search something like Jane Eyre (see screenshot), which has multiple editions, some of which are part of a "series", Vega Discover arbitrarily displays one of those series statements in the roll-up. We would like it to NOT display the series info when it doesn't apply to all editions of a work, since the roll-up is supposed to reflect what all the editions have in common, not just one particular edition's series info. It could likely make the user think, incorrectly, that if they place a hold, they will get that edition in that series, when in…

  18. Items that have zero item records but have Polaris SHRs on "Not currently Received " status show that they are "on shelf" at the branches with the SHRs even though there are no items at any of the branches. This had lead to patrons coming in looking for standing orders/ serial titles etc. that are not there.

  19. The bulk holds and bulk bookmarking features are very helpful. This would be more user-friendly if the "Select All", "Add to List" and "Place Holds" buttons were repeated at the bottom of the page. This would allow the user to scroll down through the list and make selections and then act upon those selections when they reach the bottom of the page, before clicking on to the next page.

Currently, a user has to scroll down to make selections, then scroll all the way back to the top of the page to add selections to a list or place holds,…
