Denote items from Reading History in catalog search
It could help patrons with extensive reading histories (e.g. patrons using outreach services for retirement homes etc.) improve their discovery journey when they are logged in, if items from their reading history were somehow denoted in search results as, for example, "already borrowed" or "borrowed in the past".

For New Materials, Add an Item Date Option that can be used by Consortias
Consortias often use Item Date to identify 'New Materials' by member library rather than 'Cat Date' or 'First Available Date' at the Bib Level for new titles. Consortias need an option to use an item level date so that 'new materials' can be correctly identified at the member library level.

Allow patrons to cancel "Active" INN-Reach holds
Previously on the classic Polaris PAC patrons were able to cancel "active" INN-reach holds until those items had shipped. We would like that ability for patron management on Vega Discover as well.

Suggest a purchase directly to your home library
I know this is listed on the roadmap, but it would be great if this could be tailored for consortia so that each suggestion goes directly to the patron's home library email rather than to a generic email for all libraries. Can that be factored into the current idea?

Add a Sort by Date Hold Placed to the My Bookshelf display of Holds
Patrons are accustomed to viewing their holds in order of the date the hold was placed. Ideally, they would want this as the default, but we thought it might be better to give patrons an option of how these display by adding the date the hold was placed to the Sort feature in Holds in MyBookshelf.

Social Sharing of Lists
This is a combination of 2 ideas: Patrons would like to share lists they've created, and some patrons like to "Follow" others. We could create a new world of library "influencers" such as what is on social media, by having "Library Influencers" - those with over x number of followers. Patrons could select who they want to follow, and lists could be shared over social platforms.

E-Source Targets in Vega
I am requesting the development of a dedicated e-source target module in Vega to fully replace and improve upon the e-source linking functionality currently offered in Polaris and PowerPAC. To offer comprehensive e-source target capabilities in Vega that meet both current needs and future potential, I propose the following:
Replicate Existing Polaris/PowerPAC Functionality
- Add, edit, organize targets in Vega Admin
- Set access restrictions and authentication parameters
- Enable/disable link accessibility for in-house and remote users
- Block access by patron code and IP address
- Pass authentication data to target on click-through
- Display links in Vega Discover…8 votes -
Add Hold Position to Holds List
We are finding that our patrons rely on seeing where they are in the holds queue to make decisions about keeping a hold active and have gotten used to this feature in Polaris PowerPAC.

Map it feature or similar
We would like there to be a similar feature to map it that there is in the current PAC. This is NOT similar to Stack Map in that this would help users find nearby libraries/branches within the consortium that have items (that they could travel to) and Stack Map seems to show them where items are within the library (a map within the library).

No Results - Customize Messaging/Offer Alternatives
When a patron gets no results and gets either the "did you mean?" or the search tips pages, would like a way to include some customized links to other options/services we offer, for example, our Interlibrary Loan and our Book Match services. Many patrons have no idea that if we don't own a title, we can get it for them via ILL. Or if they are just searching on a topic and not getting anything, perhaps our Book Match service may do the trick. Or just to tell users to speak with a reference librarian.

Display 856 links in search results view when focused on the applicable format tab
When 856 links exist, display them when the appropriate tab is selected in the roll-up within search results. Currently, the links only display on the format tab after you open the title resource page.

Mobile Phone Number Should Map to the 'p' Field Instead of the 'o' Field
While testing out editing patron information in Vega, we ran across an issue. The mobile phone number field in the patron record edit maps to the 'o' field which we use in Sierra as a parent name field. It would make more sense to map to 'p' (telephone2) for us.
Current Workflow
- The patron logs into Vega Discover.
- From their profile, they edit their information to add/edit a Mobile phone number.
- That phone number is mapping to Sierra's 'o' field

baker and taylor integration/Boundless
I would really love to see the Baker and Taylor "Boundless" interface refined. Talking to reps from B and T, it appears that the API is currently able to pass credentials, however in Vega you have to log into the B and T site to retrieve items. It would be more seamless and less confusing for patrons to at least authenticate them on the site when checking "get item" from Vega. Eventually, a tight integration like what we have with Overdrive would be awesome.

Export Bookmark Lists to Email
When trying to export a bookmarked list to your email, it doesn't actually export anything to your email. Instead, you're sent a link that just takes you back to your bookmark list in Vega.
It would be helpful to have Vega actually export a text-based list to your email. Example in the picture is of the email you receive with the link back to Vega.

Search via shortcut codes
I have had a couple of libraries ask me about this:
will we be able to use the abbreviations from advanced search like in Encore in Vega? i.e. c:117 limits to my library, f:a. I use that all the time to help patrons and find resources quicker both in Sierra and Encore.
For further clarity:
Some libraries like to use the shortcut codes—once you know them, it’s faster and easier than using the facets to narrow down your search.
In her example, she’s using the Encore advanced search, limiting the format to books and to her collection. When you do…

Include 'other title info' with original title in brief search display for translated works
It would be very helpful for staff when assisting patrons searching for materials in other languages if the 240 field with the original title in English was also displayed in the brief search results so the staffer could easily and quickly identify the title in English that the patron is searching for in the other language.

If search returns no results, suggest Link+
If a patron searches Vega and gets zero results, can the results page say something like, "Can't find what you're looking for? Try Link+"
See an example from another library's catalog that does this.
