  1. We conducted a test search for the following book title term:

    fable haven
(The actual book / series title is Fabelhaven)

It returns 13 results in our catalog, none of which are Fablehaven, nor did it suggest a “Did you mean fablehaven?" (Searching "fable haven" in quotes as an exact search returns 0 results, as it should).

It seems that the Vega search engine should be able to find relevant search results when this term is combined into one word, or should at least suggest “Did you mean fablehaven” in the case of searching fable haven as two words and…

  2. We have libraries complain that patron are confused due to the routing codes being present after the owning library in the Vega display (see screenshot).

It would be great if we can somehow mask this, or add the locations to the translation file to get rid of this display.

  4. Can you possibly index the volume sub field within the record in order to make the searching of books within a series a bit more efficient? For example, searching Dog Man 6 and getting volume 6 of Dog Man within our results.

  5. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  8. When I check to see how many copies of an Overdrive title the library has, you can only see how many holds have been placed on that title, but not how many copies there are. This causes confusion because it seems like the library has no copies of that title. In the attached picture example, you can see that the 'Atomic Habits' eAudiobook has 48 holds on it, but it says there are no copies. There are actually 5 copies. This issue is true with every Overdrive title, except for when the title is available to check out.

  9. We'd like to be able to look back and see what we promoted on Vega Homepage (esp. if we promised promotion for something).

With scheduled homepage layouts (https://portal.productboard.com/iii/15-vega-product-portal/c/772-in-beta-schedule-publishing-in-the-home-page-builder), we would like to keep track of what showcase blocks we have scheduled in the future as well as those already published (past events), ideally viewable in a way (table?) with what is included in the Showcase Block Settings - for example, title, start date and time, end date and time. This would be exportable as a .csv file. A minimum of time that Vega would keep published blocks would…

  10. We would like a refinement facet that uses the ITEM LEVEL "material types" from Polaris that are more specific than the current bib level Types of Material used in the Format Facet.

  12. This has a multitude of reasons why this can be helpful. In our case use, patrons let us know in the hold note field that they wish to pick up their materials through the drive through.

  13. When using the hold shelf functions of IMMS (Intelligent material Management System), customers are unable to see in Vega which hold shelf their items are ready to pickup on.

Workarounds are required by staff to fill this gap, and customers are encouraged to use other applications which does show this information.

It would be great to have the hold shelf placement details displayed in Vega, for items ready for pickup.

  14. We would like to have the option to suppress the patron's holds position in the queue from displaying. We don't have it display in our current PAC and we don't want it to display in Vega either due to it being misleading since the algorithm prioritizes a library's own patrons first which often changes the order.

  15. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).

  16. We use a staff account to create curated lists we can send to patrons as part of a personalized reader's advisory program. We've noticed that the high number of lists (>350) is creating marked slow-down and functionality issues in Vega Discover when logged into this account. We were told the number of lists is likely causing the issue. Consider creating the ability for staff to have high-content accounts for situations like this.

  17. Super frustrating to not be able to create a book list for displays or patrons needing a large amount of materials on a certain subject, and also not being able to easily print the list with the call number included. If there is an easier way to do this, please help me out: leticiag@harvard-diggins.org

  18. Since some libraries in our consortium are fine free and others are not, patrons would like to know what library owns the item(s) they have checked out as to avoid unnecessary fines. Or they may simply like to return it to the owning library to save delivery work. Generally, it is good information to have visible to patrons.

  19. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

And similarly, we are not able to see the item’s 500a…

  20. Our patrons who speak and read other languages need to be able to see our world language material records in their own language, including the 264 information, not just the title, author, and series. For Chinese materials, our users can distinguish Traditional Chinese materials from Simplified Chinese materials by checking the place of publication, and they can only do this if they can see that info in their language. As pictured in the screenshots, the old PAC shows the transliteration AND vernacular script, whereas Vega only shows the transliteration. Our users need to see both.
