  1. When an item is checked out through a third-party digital resource, like Overdrive/Libby, that is not included in our catalog it displays strangely. The list of digital items that aren't included in our catalog is extensive and forever increasing. I've included a screenshot of how it is displayed in the account records on Vega.

    It would be helpful if these items displayed in a way that was less confusing. Perhaps just simply calling it "Digital Item" would be fine.

  6. We'd like to have ability to change the mapping of the Audn: Target audience (BKS, COM, REC, SCO, VIS: 008/22; 006/05) to a specific age group facet. For example, many catalog records have a blank assigned for target audience. Search results will include these records but they fall out when the "general" facet is selected. We do not want to manipulate these records to "g" when [blank] is a valid option. Also, we'd like the ability to group the target audience a (preschool), b (primary), and c (pre-adolescent) under j (juvenile) without manipulating the catalog records in our database.

  8. Integrate into Vega the capability for patrons to create their own notifications using advanced search filtering. For example, patrons could choose to receive a text through IPA:SMS whenever a specific author releases new material at our library. Additionally, they could opt to receive a weekly email with a predefined search filter, such as Availability (At Library), Format (Book), Collection (Adult Non-Fiction), New Material (This week), focusing on the topic "Nature".

  9. This will help staff let patrons know where the notice will be sent when placing a hold on their behalf. It will also show patrons where to expect the notice to be sent to when they place holds.

    The red box in the attached screenshot would say the following:

    "Notice will be emailed (or texted to): ***"

  10. Our libraries do not use the Always Show a Call Number Option. We only want a call number to display if it's the expected library for the patron. Because of this the Find a Copy link does not always appear if only a few libraries have the item. We would like it to show consistently as removing it creates an extra step & an inconsistent experience when browsing. Clicking on "Find a copy" is helpful even if only a few libraries have the item since it pulls up the whole list of libraries that own the item and doing so…

  11. Some customers only want hold pickup notifications. Others want hold pickup and overdue but not courtesy notices. I believe the fact that notices are all or nothing is a BIG reason why our emails get marked as spam. Please allow patrons to select which notices they receive. Even better, allow staff to decide if a notice is optional. For example, we understand if patrons don't want courtesy notices, but we will always send a bill becasue their borrowing privileges are blocked by then.

Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

  13. When a checked out OverDrive item is viewed in Vega's "My Bookshelf," the user is given the option to "check in" the item using a button to the left of the listing. Clicking a caret to the right of the button makes an additional button, "get item," appear which, when clicked, allows the user to choose how they would like to view the item (read in Kindle, read in browser, download ePub or PDF, etc).   14. Currently the only direct links to specific patron account tabs that are to Checkout, Holds, Fines and Fees, and Profile. There should be permanently available links to the other top-level tabs within My Bookshelf: Bookmarks, Saved Searches, and Reading History.

  16. Please add select boxes next to each title in grid view to allow users to use bulk holds while viewing search results in that view.

    The "Select All" and "Place holds" options appear at the top of the search page in grid view, but there are no select boxes for individual titles. It would be great to have select boxes appear in grid view. If this can't be done, it would probably be better to not include the Select All and Place holds options in this view either since not being able to select individual titles makes this feel broken.

  18. Currently when the OPACMSG is changed from [NEW] to [--] in the item record it does not change the view in Discover. For Discover to reflect this change, you must suppress and then unsuppress the bib and then run a record extraction. Our patrons/staff use this message to know whether they are to look on the NEW display or in the stacks.

  19. Right now, when you click on the library info icon in the top right, it seems to default to whichever library we have most recently been editing on the admin interface. It should default to the library site that you are actually on. as it is, the patron must use the drop down to find their library. I am sure others have made this request.

  20. We would like to have the ability to sort Edition Information for an item by other identifiers such as Availability, Publisher, etc. This will help with customizing the user's experience a bit more when looking at the particular editions that they would like.
