  1. The current default selection for a MARC extraction is "All Records". If a user clicks submit by accident, this can take hours to complete. Default selection should be changed to " New or Updated Since <today's date>" as that is a faster extraction (and probably more used)

  2. I'd like to be able to limit search results to one branch's collection and limit search results available items in one branch's collection in just one or two obvious clicks.

  3. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)

  4. We would like to add the ability for users to see the item description within the List view of searches. Specifically the summary (520 field) that is included in records similar to the way that the PAC displays items.

  5. When looking at an item record in Vega Discover, patrons should be able to right click on titles to open in a new tab (e.g., in the list of You May Also Like, Related Resources, Topics, etc.). Right now, patrons have to click on the title to open the record, see if we have it and where it's located. If they want to look at another title, they have to use the back button then wait for the page to refresh again, scroll down, and repeat.

  6. Due to the Marrakesh treaty the 341 and 532 tags were created to make accessibility tags for print disabled patrons. Vega should enable the tags to make these tags available in Vega. I am attaching a sample from the National Network for equitable library services as an example.

  7. We've had customers and staff point out that at times, shelf location information could be more visible in Vega results. In particular, we wondered if it would be possible to use bold type for the shelf location information on the search result page on the kiosk sites, in addition to the call number.

Also, when you go to the detailed information that lists the call number, collection, and shelf location information, we thought perhaps, when the shelf location information is available, it might help if it was listed above the call number.

    Thanks for your consideration!

  8. When patrons are deleting anything from reading history a pop-up window will notify them that (currently) their entire history will be deleted: "Are you sure you want to delete your entire reading history?" And if individual title deleting becomes a possibility: "are you sure you want to delete this(these) titles?"

  9. We would like the option to hide the due date column, since it's not very reliable information. Our consortium has autorenew, so there is no guarantee the items will be returned on the date that displays to patrons, in fact it's rather unlikely given the rate at which our items autorenew.

  10. Edited by Samantha C October 6, 2025 after release of Title and Author sort options

We would like too add more sorting options to Vega Discover when on the results screen after doing a search. The options that are listed above for example will help with bringing the most relevant titles to the top of the results based on the user's searching preferences. This will promote giving users more options for better discovery.

  11. We would like to have shelf location added as a facet in Vega in addition to collections. We use shelf locations for genres like Mystery, Urban Fiction, Science Fiction, and Graphic Novels that aren't reflected in our collection codes. There is currently no way for patrons to search by shelf location in Vega, so it's very frustrating for patrons trying to look for just Graphic Novels, for example. We would rather have shelf locations added as a facet than have to change all of our shelf locations to collections.

  13. We would like the ability to see our custom domain links directly on the Vega Sites configuration page. While we understand that adding new custom domain links may not be within our control, it would be extremely helpful to have the existing reference links displayed on this page. Currently, we rely on memory and archived emails between support staff to track these links, but having them visible within the configuration page would provide a more streamlined and efficient experience. Attached is a visual reference.

  14. Currently, only Vega showcases that are created from a set of bookmarks can be displayed on Record Pages, which is NOT an option for showcases from saved searches. In some cases, we prefer using saved searches vs. bookmarks, as they are easier to maintain. We still want to see those showcases show up on record pages. The documentation (https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/Create_Showcase.htm) doesn't call out this limitation in the "To create a showcase from a saved search" section. We found out the hard way, after creating saved searches/showcases, had to recreate as bookmarks (and now maintain).

  16. When you click on a subject heading that appears under "Topics" on a resource page to find other similar resources, it would be better for the results to display as a search results list so that you can further refine the list.

Staff often start with a particular title, then look for appropriate subjects to link to other relevant resources for a patron and they would like to be able to apply other filters (particularly Availability and Location but other facets would be useful too) to refine the list of resources.

Currently, when you click on a heading, you are…

  17. So far, the only way we have of distinguishing materials in the catalog for our Chinese speakers that are written in Traditional Chinese vs. Simplified Chinese is by their place of publication. Titles published in mainland China (008 position 15-17 is "cc") are different from titles published in Taiwan (008 position 15-17 is "ch"). We would like to see place of publication added as a facet for this reason.

  18. If there are no circulating items available and there are no open orders attached, we would like the status in edition information to display as not available instead of on order. On order is confusing when there are no open orders attached to the bib.

  19. I think the patron's would be better served if the hyperlink of an author's name went directly to the other items they have written and to NOT go to an author page. I feel like more patrons want to simply see other works by the author and not read a wannabe Wikipedia page.

  20. Can you possibly index the volume sub field within the record in order to make the searching of books within a series a bit more efficient? For example, searching Dog Man 6 and getting volume 6 of Dog Man within our results.
