  1. We would like to be able to limit the number of items that show up in the "More in this series" section. In some cases we have 100+ items in this section that forces the patron to scroll for a long time to pass it, and increases slowness when loading the record. It would be great to have an option to limit this section to a couple of rows, and only see the full list when clicking the "See full series" link.

  2. Don't require mandatory punctuation in a search string to improve search results. For example, there are authors with hyphenated last names (authorized heading). If a customer searches these authors without a hyphen, Vega does not display results. Vega requires the hyphen to be present to display results by this author.

  3. Movies need to have clearer display of the actors, director, etc. when you go into the item record. Some movies have been remade and I currently have a lot of trouble locating the right movie for my patron when they tell me the year it was made and I can't even find that in the item record because it only tells me when that disc edition was made not when the movie itself was first made. I'll also get patrons who give me a title where there are several movies with that title and I currently can't even find a…

  4. Discover should be able to handle a numerical comma in a title. We received a patron complaint that they couldn't find the title 20,000 Leagues under the sea. They were searching (correctly) with the comma in "20,000" (see this search: https://ada-lynx.na3.iiivega.com/search?query=20,000%20leagues%20under%20the%20sea&searchType=everything&pageSize=10). When searched as "20000", all the results properly come up (see https://ada-lynx.na3.iiivega.com/search?query=20000%20leagues%20under%20the%20sea&searchType=everything&pageSize=10). This is very difficult to explain to both the public and to the staff when our old PAC gives results to that without issue.

  5. Our customers don't think the 'i' information icon is a clickable thing. They think it just looks like a static image and assume there's no further information.

We'd like to see the icon changed to something that looks more like a button or link.

  6. We would like a way to show on the search page when an item is a In Library Use Only status. Right now, ours just says everything is available with no search button which can cause confusion for patrons. We want people to find these items so they know we have them, but to make it clear when looking at a search that they will have to come into the library to use it.

  7. When doing a title search, search results that have the search term in the title should have a higher relevancy than those that have the search term in the subtitle.

For example, when doing a title search for "thriller" in our catalog, two of the first three results have thriller in the title. You have scroll through over a hundred more search results before you find another item titled "Thrillers" and another page of results before you find another result specifically titled "Thriller" The rest of the results have thriller in the subtitle.

If there is an exact title match…

We have made updates to relevancy for exact title matches. When I search 'thrillers' in your catalog the title, "Thrillers:100 must-reads" is number 2. https://danbu.na4.iiivega.com/search?query=thrillers&searchType=everything&pageSize=10

When you search 'thriller' instead of the exact title you are introducing stemming into the equation so the title with the added s on the end which is what you're hoping to find in this case is lower in the results because it is not as relevant as the many pages of titles with 'thriller' in the title instead of 'thrillers'.

  8. REQUEST: Ideally suppression rules would be the same as currently followed in the ILS (Sierra and Polaris) along with requesting parameters. Would help with reference only collections that can't be checked out/removed from building but say 'checked in'

  10. Most patrons probably don't add apostrophes when searching (some do, some don't). We suggest it be taken out as a variable effecting the search results in basic search. In advanced search it can be included exactly as typed, but for the basic search it may do more harm than good. Please see the attached examples.

  11. Since the MARC to BIBFRAME conversion doesn't convert every tag, Staff would like the ability to view MARC from Discover

  13. Add contributors, such as translator, illustrator or foreword author to the edition bib-frame info "i" window to better distinguish between different editions of a title. Most people are likely looking for contributors when choosing between editions.

  15. We need to be able to search by song title when searching for music cds or for sheet music books.
It also its hard not be able to see the track listing for compilation albums (the Now cds for instance).
We have patrons complain about this weekly.

  16. Currently, in the translation file there's one spot to edit ALL Place hold buttons. This prevents us from, say, editing the button that applied to ALL editions to say perhaps "Place hold on any edition" and, perhaps, editing the edition specific button to say "Place hold on this edition". We would like these separated out for editing.

  17. Magazines borrowed directly from Overdrive show the confusing resource for title result instead of the magazine issue itself. An extra step of Get Issue is required to show the issue. This appears to be covered under the Vega Product portal - Overdrive Magazines. However that is listed under the Later category. Monarch is asking if this could be expedited due to the confusion it is causing to staff and patrons.

We have turned on Swedish for Syndetics Unbound. If your library has a language that Syndetics supports the default translations will appear when you change the language in discover. You can supplement and alter these in the syndetics admin. Reach out to support for help and access if needed!

  19. This is a combination of 2 ideas: Patrons would like to share lists they've created, and some patrons like to "Follow" others. We could create a new world of library "influencers" such as what is on social media, by having "Library Influencers" - those with over x number of followers. Patrons could select who they want to follow, and lists could be shared over social platforms.
