  1. The Damaged feature in Polaris 7.5 was implemented without a permission to enable libraries to turn it off if they prefer their existing procedure. Because we can't turn it off and we have several hundred staff members, many new, all of whom do not have all our procedures memorized, some of the staff now use the Damage feature. This means that we now need a report to catch these transactions and extra staff time to undo them. To try to mitigate, we changed the string "Damaged" to "Do not use".   2. We would like to see additional information and functions available in the Polaris Client or LEAP so that staff have more resources and information to support customers with questions about online resources.

    For example, library staff would benefit from seeing real-time hold information in Polaris about items on Overdrive or Hoopla. Currently, Polaris shows an asterix (*) under holds. Library staff need to either go to the PAC or Overdrive to provide customers with this information.   3. I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.

    This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.

  4. We currently have the ability to set the default status for the 3 request manager views but it would be great to be able to set a default VIEW for request manager to open in as well. At our library, Request Manager is intensively used for receiving incoming INN-Reach requests (ILL view) and it would save time if we could make that the default view.

  5. In Simply Reports, some filter menus do not populate options until a library/branch is chosen (i.e. Shelf Location, Stat Code, Statistical Class). This is helpful for consortia because the menus only become populated with the options available at each selected branch(es), keeping the options to a manageable size.

    We would like to see this dynamic menu functionality applied to the Collection, Material Type, and Patron Code filters as well.

    Currently, our consortium has 55 Material Types, 57 Patron Codes, and 284 Collections to choose from in these menus, which becomes quite overwhelming for users and involves A LOT of tedious…

  6. Reviewing the process of integrating Cirriusimpact at our library, we've encountered a notable issue: patrons opting out of text messaging and staff needing to adjust their notifications accordingly. Currently, we're relying on CGS to send daily email alerts when someone opts out, but it would be more convenient to add a non-blocking note to the Polaris account visible to all staff. This would ensure everyone is aware of a patron's preference change and simplify the search for patrons with similar notification settings.

  8. Indian Trails Library has several members who own 2 properties in 2 different CCS Library areas. Several times now these member's accounts were merged due to other library staff in other libraries not looking at the member's notes. This upsets the members and is more work for library staff to recreate the other account.

  9. It would be great if there was a way to at least see which library an accidentally cancelled INN-Reach item was going out to. Occasionally, staff inadvertently click No to keeping an INN-Reach customer on hold for an item instead of clicking Yes. This happened today during request list clean up away from the physical item. We'd like to contact the requesting library so they can replace the hold for their customer but, with the request completely gone,we cannot access that info.   11. It would be nice to have the ability to set different email notice schedules for each branch.
    We would like to line up our notice delivery times with the operating hours of our branches, or allow more frequent hold notice emails at a specific branch.

  12. In the 7.5 update, which introduces the ability to cancel items in "shipped" and "held" statuses, I suggest extending this cancellation privilege to staff members exclusively. When patrons cancel items that are on hold, those items are often already on the hold shelf, and the system's only notification to staff is by adding the item to the cancelled hold list.

    By allowing only staff to cancel holds, they could promptly remove the item from the shelf and cancel it directly, eliminating the need for setting an expiration date or other measures to force its expiration.

  13. Currently, a patron's current charges (for fines, etc.) can be listed on their emailed checkout receipts, but not on their printed checkout receipts. It would be very useful for patrons if the printed checkout receipts could also include this information.

  14. Currently, when a patron is placing a request for ILL via OCLC in the Polaris PAC, Polaris offers a "local item" to hold if the item is in the local Polaris database. Unfortunately, I have just learned from my Site Manager it is only checking title/author to suggest a match, not format.   15. It would be nice if Authorized User (custom field under Attribute on patron registration) can be added to the header in Leap so staff do not have to open up(click) the patron registration to see it.

    We would like for this field to be visible when staff opens the check out screen for a patron without having to open their registration screen.

  16. We would like the ability to modify the description of the Item Record History Actions when it comes to renewals. Currently, when a renewal happens in the app, it lists it as "Renewal - third party software" which confused our library staff. We were told that is the wording for anything renewed via the Polaris API, but since (for now) the only thing we have renewing that way is the app, we'd like to change the wording to say "Renewal - Mobile App" so it's clearer for staff.   18. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  20. I would like to see a history of all holds on a bib record kept with the date of activation, not just those that were cancelled. I use this information to adjust how many copies of popular authors to pre-buy by looking at how many holds were placed on an author's previous released title(s) prior to release date.
