Change it so that failed logins don't update last activity date
Right now in the Polaris SIP environment, if you attempt to get patron information using a 63 message, but you put in the WRONG password, the patron accounts LAST ACTIVITY DATE will STILL be updated.
We recently had a vendor that for some crazy reason, went through and was attempting a 63 message for all patron barcodes they had on file. This updated the last activity date for tens of thousands of patron accounts.
Although I suppose there could be some arguments for this behavior, it should not be the default. By default if an account login FAILS, for any…

LEAP Keyboard Shortcuts and Cap Locks
We've discovered the keyboard shortcuts in LEAP do not work when you have cap locks on. Our catalogers are a 50/50 split on those who always have cap locks on while they work and those who don't. I'd like to have the option available for those who find it easiest to catalog with the cap locks and use the shortcuts.

Leap lockouts due to incorrect password entry should have a unique error message
We had a front-line staff member contact us because he was getting a "The domain, username or password is incorrect" error message when he tried to log in to Leap. Support was able to tell us that he was locked out because he had incorrectly typed his password five times. They confirmed that the error message that will be shown when this happens is "The domain, username or password is incorrect." Not only is that error message text factually untrue, it is identical to the error message that a staff person sees if their password actually IS being entered incorrectly.…
38 votesThe message here is intentionally vague for security reasons. By not indicating the reason for the failure, we are not providing any information to potential hackers about the validity of the account.
The error message that displays is a customizable language string (AUTH_LOGIN_INVALID). For libraries that want a reminder to staff that it could mean their account is locked, you could add that to the message text.

Lost and Deleted Items
Today I helped a customer who had three Lost (and billed) items on her account. The items were all designated as Deleted as well. She claimed that she had returned two of the three items through our Automated Materials Handler (AMH) some time ago. The items were set to lost in 2022. The third item she had and returned today. This item having been deleted shows up in Leap as a "no matching record" (NMR) item. And that got me thinking that she may very well have returned the other two items through our AMH and because they read as…

Prevent update of patron code for patrons in collection (Susan Millwater)
Since you can exclude patron codes that are submitted to collections, you shouldn't be allowed to update the patron code for a patron in collection. We've found that any updates to fines and fees will not be sent to collection management (UMS) and the collection block will not be removed for a patron in collection if they now have a patron code that is excluded from collection.

More Robust Item Record Change History
It would be very helpful to have a more robust item record history. It appears that only the last 12 months of item history is available. It would be great if Polaris would:
A) keep the history of changes in the item record forever
B) improve the data that is stored and presented to staff, for example, so we could see what exactly was edited on 7-26-23 in the screenshot attached. Perhaps by clicking on the entry and having the information pop up.24 votesIn accordance with the Idea Graduation Workflow guidelines agreed upon by Innovative and IUG, this idea has been closed because it was submitted more than two years ago and has not been selected for inclusion in the product.

Return to full list function for delivery routes in Outreach Services Manager
When we first go to the Outreach Services Manager, we see the full list of patrons for all delivery routes. We have the option to select a single delivery route and its associated patrons; however, there does not seem to be a way to return to the full list. Our current only option is to close the OSM and start again.
It would be useful to have a "none" option at the top of the list, or to have the ability to deselect an item (without having to select another item).

Add Save option for Outreach Services Manager (OSM) Picklist
Please add a Save option for the full picklist so any items removed will stay removed.
When we go to Utilities > Outreach Services > Picklist, we see the full picklist for all Outreach Services (ORS) patrons. We can find a title either by scrolling through the list or using the filter to search by patron or title. We can select the title and then press "Remove from list". The full picklist displays and the selected title no longer appears on the list.
However, there isn't an option to Save here.
If we select "refresh," we receive a warning that…

Limit patron initiated INN-Reach holds at point of placement
Currently Polaris "Patron Loan Limits --Total Holds or Total ILL" value is not checked at point of INN-Reach webpac hold placement. This means Polaris users can place limitless INN-Reach holds which wastes staff time and courier resources. Please develop Polaris/INN-Reach connector to block further patron initiated INN-Reach holds once total holds and/or total ILL value is reached.

Allow Staff to Select City/Town When Multiple Locations Share the Same Postal Code
Currently, there are two options for handling postal codes, which I like to term: “Wild West” and “In Lock Down”. The postal codes are collected and managed within the Postal Code table in Administration>Explorer>Database Tables. Staff functionality is governed by the permission Patron registration: Modify postal address fields.
The Wild West option is to allow staff the permission to enter any address information provided by patrons, resulting in a table populated with a lot of incorrect city/town to postal code data. This way lies madness and continuous clean-up.On the other hand, removing the permission from staff logins, puts them…

Need permission to turn off Damaged Feature in Polaris 7.5
The Damaged feature in Polaris 7.5 was implemented without a permission to enable libraries to turn it off if they prefer their existing procedure. Because we can't turn it off and we have several hundred staff members, many new, all of whom do not have all our procedures memorized, some of the staff now use the Damage feature. This means that we now need a report to catch these transactions and extra staff time to undo them. To try to mitigate, we changed the string "Damaged" to "Do not use". It would be much preferred if a permission would allow…

Increase functionality of API with Overdrive
We would like to see additional information and functions available in the Polaris Client or LEAP so that staff have more resources and information to support customers with questions about online resources.
For example, library staff would benefit from seeing real-time hold information in Polaris about items on Overdrive or Hoopla. Currently, Polaris shows an asterix (*) under holds. Library staff need to either go to the PAC or Overdrive to provide customers with this information. It would help library staff to have information available in one place rather than requiring staff to go to multiple sources to answer a…

Simply Reports - item statistical reports that can be broken down by the hour as well as by date
I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.
This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.

Enter supplying library agency code into Polaris request notes and item notes
Please enter the supplying library agency code into INN-Reach request notes, rather than the agency code for the library initially selected to fill the request. It is more useful to have information about the supplying library in the request. If the request notes were updated once a library had actually sent the item, the requesting library would be better able to contact the library if there were any issues with transit, etc.
It would also be helpful to have the supplying library's agency code in a notes field on the temporary item record that is created, so staff doesn't have…

Add ability to set a default Request Manager view to user default settings in Leap
We currently have the ability to set the default status for the 3 request manager views but it would be great to be able to set a default VIEW for request manager to open in as well. At our library, Request Manager is intensively used for receiving incoming INN-Reach requests (ILL view) and it would save time if we could make that the default view.

Additional dynamic filter options in Simply Reports
In Simply Reports, some filter menus do not populate options until a library/branch is chosen (i.e. Shelf Location, Stat Code, Statistical Class). This is helpful for consortia because the menus only become populated with the options available at each selected branch(es), keeping the options to a manageable size.
We would like to see this dynamic menu functionality applied to the Collection, Material Type, and Patron Code filters as well.
Currently, our consortium has 55 Material Types, 57 Patron Codes, and 284 Collections to choose from in these menus, which becomes quite overwhelming for users and involves A LOT of tedious…

(SMS - Cirriusimpact/third-party SMS) Flag patron account within Polaris when patron "opts out"
Reviewing the process of integrating Cirriusimpact at our library, we've encountered a notable issue: patrons opting out of text messaging and staff needing to adjust their notifications accordingly. Currently, we're relying on CGS to send daily email alerts when someone opts out, but it would be more convenient to add a non-blocking note to the Polaris account visible to all staff. This would ensure everyone is aware of a patron's preference change and simplify the search for patrons with similar notification settings.

Account Alert Banner
Indian Trails Library has several members who own 2 properties in 2 different CCS Library areas. Several times now these member's accounts were merged due to other library staff in other libraries not looking at the member's notes. This upsets the members and is more work for library staff to recreate the other account.
It would be great if there was a red banner like the "expired" banner on a member's account that owns two properties so that when any CCS library opens the member's account the red banner will alert them that this member owns to properties in the…

Provide method to recover info associated with a cleared INN-Reach request
It would be great if there was a way to at least see which library an accidentally cancelled INN-Reach item was going out to. Occasionally, staff inadvertently click No to keeping an INN-Reach customer on hold for an item instead of clicking Yes. This happened today during request list clean up away from the physical item. We'd like to contact the requesting library so they can replace the hold for their customer but, with the request completely gone,we cannot access that info. In a perfect world, you could click on hold transaction in the item history and see that info,…
