  1. When you export a file with Scheduler FTP, it currently adds a time and date stamp on the end of the file name. We have no control over this addition to the file name. This stamp makes the file completely useless for many applications. Many of the vendors we might send files to require particular file extensions on our files, such as .mrc. Since this stamp is added to the end of the file name, it is not possible to specify the required file extension.

As a result Scheduler is completely incompatible with Ingram's Ipage service for example.

  2. Twice in the past year we have encountered errors in which the overnight statistics process did not complete leading to a missing day's worth of transactions in Web Management Reports. In both cases we only learned of this missing data later upon running monthly reports and finding an undercount.

Upon being alerted Innovative has been able to retrieve the missing data and add it back to WMR, but doing so adds it to the current month instead of the correct timeframe. This latest occurrence crossed fiscal years for us, essentially breaking the reporting tool for our needs.

    Fortunately, this is…

  3. Scheduler's output MARC records function requires that you send something in the Remote Directory field. If you are sending to the root of the remote server, then you have to include "./" in the Remote Directory field or your export will fail.

It would be extremely helpful if "./" were included in the default set up for output in this field. I just had a ticket open for months with the help desk, and the solution was "./" in Remote Directory. Your own support staff doesn't know this and/or doesn't remember it. This should just fill in automatically when I…

  4. One of the major advantages of Sierra is it's flexibility. Particularly the Sierra fixed fields. Sierra allows those fixed fields to be used in non-standard ways, but the API loader does not have that flexibility. If you try to load records with unexpected data with the API, the load will fail. The API MARC loader does not have to validate MARC. Sierra has never really validated MARC. Don't start now. The API should allow the same weird non-standard data as the rest of Sierra.

  5. I would like to add additional links to the footer of Encore but there is current limit of 6 links. Please remove this limit so I have an area in Encore that I can unobtrusively add links in Encore for patrons and staff.

  7. Sometimes it's unclear what permission is triggering the authorization required/override prompt during a transaction and thus what staff member will need to step in to override/allow the transaction to go through. It would be helpful if the "authorization required" prompt included the permission(s) that apply to the transaction.

  8. Postpone/freeze a hold after it's Ready for Pickup
Similar to Overdrive's redeliver option. Allow a patron to postpone/redeliver their hold one time if it comes in unexpectedly or at a time when they cannot come to pick it up.

  9. Have the results of Manage Holds automatically emailed each morning.

This would let staff pick holds even if they don't have Sierra open or available. The automated emails could be set up within the Manage Holds function itself, or could be accomplished if Scheduler worked with Manage Holds (right now Scheduler only works with Create Lists and Data Exchange).

  10. Currently at the time of creating the header report it is possible to exclude records without CAT DATE. We request to add a new filter to the heading report from the fixed field "Bib Code 3" in order to exclude bibliographic records with the value pending validation (supressed records from webpac).

  12. In circtrans and finespaid views (and maybe more views) there are several dates that are showing a value of 0 (which displays as 1969-12-31 due to UNIX date formatting).

Dates do not have a value of 0, they can however, have a value of NULL, which is already how things work with other dates in the system, like the bib record cataloguingdategmt.

This should be fixed for any dates in the system, not because anyone may or may not vote for it, but because it is both inaccurate and inconsistent.

    I logged this as a ticket,…

  13. Analysis of holds is often requested by managers keen to see what users are requesting and how much material is going where across multiple sites.

However a lot of detailed information on holds in the SQL tables is transitory e.g. hold, hold_removed.

I have long thought that it would be helpful to include hold pickup location in circ_trans, which provides a historic perspective and can be downloaded and/or adjusted to capture longer time frames.

This would enable data and analysis which is not possible currently.

  14. Data in the hold_removed table is being deleted before the 60-day retention period is up in situations where staff clear the hold shelf, and an entry in the hold_removed table is indicated to be "picked up". This is unexpected and not helpful in the task of gathering more data related to holds.

    I propose the following changes...

    1. Retention Period: Entries are being removed from the hold_removed table before the default 60-day retention period is up. I propose that data should remain in this table, as it represents the lifecycle of a hold and the recorded event that removed an active…

  15. When going through various Headings Reports, we'll end up reviewing the same bib record that has multiple first-time-use entries throughout the report. It would be nice if they could be sorted by the bib record to reduce staff time and stay in the same record as long as needed.

Perhaps the bib record could be pulled from the Entry column and inserted into a new column in the display that could then be sorted like the other available columns.

  16. Currently patrons can opt in and out of Reading History our public catalog (Bibliocore) but we get many requests from patrons who want to manage that reading history by removing items from Reading History but the RESTAPI doesn't allow users to do that, they have to log into their accounts on WebPac in order to manage the titles in that history. We would like to see full Reading History management currently available in WebPac added to the RESTAPI.

  17. by Kathy Setter Although we can sort by columns. in the saved notice jobs there is no way to rearrange them into a preferred order without being creative in naming the jobs (numbering, adding letters, etc). I would like to be able to move the lines to arrange them in the order most useful for staff. In other places you can right click and move up or move down, and that's what I would like to do here.

  18. There are two things we would like to see in the Mark Damaged Items process. First we need a separate notice text for damaged items. We are trying to differentiate between lost and damaged and having to use the same notice text is problematic. Second, we'd like the status after the bill is paid to be Damaged & Paid (just like Lost & Paid) instead of just Damaged, as staff can't tell if this is an initial damaged status or one that has been paid for. These are handled differently and being able to create a list, for example, of…

  19. Problem: Many patrons have holds on titles in Quick Pick or Lucky Day collections. When they "get lucky" and check out one of these non-holdable copies their original hold remains in the queue and the patron often neglects to cancel their hold.

Impact: Fulfilling these unnecessary holds wastes time for staff and patrons and delays trigging other patrons' holds as the item sits on the holdshelf until the expiration date. Collection budgets are also negatively impacted as these unnecessary holds can skew the item-to-holds ratio for high-demand items that selectors use to determine how many additional copies to purchase.

    Solution:…

  20. The "recent search" in Search/Holds allows Libraries to determine how many past searches are saved. This is a huge benefit for staff when they are performing reference interviews with customers.

This "recent search" option is not available in the checkout browse workflow.

Our library has multiple bib records for DVD TV series (eg. Season 1, Season 2 etc). Staff that assist customers to place holds at the circulation desk struggle to place holds on these DVDs because they must keep typing the same title again and again into the checkout browse search query.

We have communicated to staff they can…
