  1. Show public notes and urls from item records in Vega. We have many items with information in public notes and urls in our Sierra system and they do not show in Vega. We would like them to show up for the patrons to see.

  2. In the My Bookshelf Area, which includes Checkouts, Holds, Bookmarks, Saved Lists, Reading History and Showcases, it can be cumbersome for those patrons with large lists to view them. Patrons (and staff) are missing the ability to view multiple titles without having to scroll and would like the option to view these lists in a text format instead of what is currently available.

  3. Currently in Vega, patrons cannot search by genre (655 tag). The ability to search or refine by genre would be really helpful, since patrons could then more easily search for genres such as "Picture books" or "Science fiction."

  5. We'd like to have ability to change the mapping of the Audn: Target audience (BKS, COM, REC, SCO, VIS: 008/22; 006/05) to a specific age group facet. For example, many catalog records have a blank assigned for target audience. Search results will include these records but they fall out when the "general" facet is selected. We do not want to manipulate these records to "g" when [blank] is a valid option. Also, we'd like the ability to group the target audience a (preschool), b (primary), and c (pre-adolescent) under j (juvenile) without manipulating the catalog records in our database.

  6. Currently, only partial of the bibliographic description is displayed in the Location Drawer Item Details due to either character limit and/or predetermined select subfields. The full description needs to be displayed to include additional content from $e of the 300.

In a consortia, especially one with many member libraries that share patrons, it is important for users to be able to move from the main/parent domain instance of Discover to one of the individual library sites and also to be able to navigate between member library sites. This is functionality currently available in the Polaris PAC and heavily used.

  9. Permanent link to Vega records. When records are changed, the Vega ID changes and thus the link changes resulting in broken links. Please create permanent links for Vega records that aren't affected by changes to the item or bib records in Polaris.

  10. Patrons are accustomed to viewing their holds in order of the date the hold was placed. Ideally, they would want this as the default, but we thought it might be better to give patrons an option of how these display by adding the date the hold was placed to the Sort feature in Holds in MyBookshelf.

  11. When you click on a subject heading that appears under "Topics" on a resource page to find other similar resources, it would be better for the results to display as a search results list so that you can further refine the list.

    Staff often start with a particular title, then look for appropriate subjects to link to other relevant resources for a patron and they would like to be able to apply other filters (particularly Availability and Location but other facets would be useful too) to refine the list of resources.

When a patron gets no results and gets either the "did you mean?" or the search tips pages, would like a way to include some customized links to other options/services we offer, for example, our Interlibrary Loan and our Book Match services. Many patrons have no idea that if we don't own a title, we can get it for them via ILL. Or if they are just searching on a topic and not getting anything, perhaps our Book Match service may do the trick. Or just to tell users to speak with a reference librarian.

  18. Some facets are really important to searching and should be ranked higher. For us the format is the most important facet. That may not be true everywhere. Consortia are more concerned with collecection and location, so we need to have the ability to organice the facets as we could in Encore

  19. We use Polaris and our old catalog showed the number of renewals remaining/available for patrons. We've heard from patrons and staff that this would be appreciated versus the current view (number of renewals taken). Thanks for considering!

  20. Currently, I can't post a title on more than one showcase. Example - Killers of the Flower Moon - which is on a list of staff picks we supply to a local weekly newspaper and one I made of Carnegie Medal winners.
