  1. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

Ideally, your selections should be maintained across…

  2. Please add select boxes next to each title in grid view to allow users to use bulk holds while viewing search results in that view.

The "Select All" and "Place holds" options appear at the top of the search page in grid view, but there are no select boxes for individual titles. It would be great to have select boxes appear in grid view. If this can't be done, it would probably be better to not include the Select All and Place holds options in this view either since not being able to select individual titles makes this feel broken.

  3. When a specific branch has been selected, automatically show item information (location, call number etc.) beneath items located at the selected branch in search results so that no additional click is necessary to see call number, etc.

  4. I'd like to be able to limit search results to one branch's collection and limit search results available items in one branch's collection in just one or two obvious clicks.

  5. Right now, when you search something like Jane Eyre (see screenshot), which has multiple editions, some of which are part of a "series", Vega Discover arbitrarily displays one of those series statements in the roll-up. We would like it to NOT display the series info when it doesn't apply to all editions of a work, since the roll-up is supposed to reflect what all the editions have in common, not just one particular edition's series info. It could likely make the user think, incorrectly, that if they place a hold, they will get that edition in that series, when in…

  6. So far, the only way we have of distinguishing materials in the catalog for our Chinese speakers that are written in Traditional Chinese vs. Simplified Chinese is by their place of publication. Titles published in mainland China (008 position 15-17 is "cc") are different from titles published in Taiwan (008 position 15-17 is "ch"). We would like to see place of publication added as a facet for this reason.

  7. We would like to see a new format of "Graphic Novel" which would not roll up with other books that have the same title and author. It could use the fixed fields in the MARC record when the 008 is for books with a 6 in "Nature of contents" (positions 24-27). This would help prevent us from having to add our own manufactured subtitles just to get certain graphic novels to stop rolling up with the book version.

  8. In line with ideas about customizing the experience more to the patron, and adding more useful information to the lists feature, I would like if the messages like "you have one copy checked out" or "you have one copy on hold" appeared when patrons are looking at their own lists (like it does on resource pages, but without having to click into each one to see the status). It could also be tied to data from the reading history to say "borrowed once before," etc. This would help patrons who are researching a topic and bookmarking many potential resources, or…

  9. REQUEST: Ideally suppression rules would be the same as currently followed in the ILS (Sierra and Polaris) along with requesting parameters. Would help with reference only collections that can't be checked out/removed from building but say 'checked in'

  10. We would like to see the subfield q of the 020 field displayed next to the ISBN so users can tell which material types are included in a record. This was visible in the old PAC within the Full Display view (attached).

  12. We would like to add the ability for users to see the item description within the List view of searches. Specifically the summary (520 field) that is included in records similar to the way that the PAC displays items.

  13. When patrons try to place a hold on something they already have placed a hold on, instead of getting a message that they already have a hold, they receive the message,
"Your request for this material was unsuccessful
Couldn't find suitable edition for the request"

We would like to be able to edit this message to let them know they already have a hold and cannot place a second hold on the same record.

  14. We'd like the ability for patrons to link their existing library card account with other authentication platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Linkedin, Facebook, etc.. This would provide ease of sign-in and enhanced security through features like multi-factor authentication (MFA). Patrons would register their existing library account with one of these integrations if they decided to move to this method. This has become common enough across the web that we've had patrons specifically ask for the ability to login with their Apple or Google account.

  15. When a checked out OverDrive item is viewed in Vega's "My Bookshelf," the user is given the option to "check in" the item using a button to the left of the listing. Clicking a caret to the right of the button makes an additional button, "get item," appear which, when clicked, allows the user to choose how they would like to view the item (read in Kindle, read in browser, download ePub or PDF, etc). Although most OverDrive users will likely be accessing their items from Libby/Kindle directly, it would be nice if the "get item" button in Vega was…

  16. In the search bar, if someone types a query and their mouse happens to be below the search bar, when they press enter, it performs the search based on the suggested title or concept that was where the mouse was positioned. This unwanted autocompleting has confused me and others, and I've only just deduced the cause (I think). Most search engines don't do this behaviour, so people don't even think to consider the position of their mouse when typing a search into a search box. It has caused frustration for our librarians and patrons.

  17. Currently when a hold activation date in the future is set, the only indication in the holds list is that the hold says Frozen. Nowhere does it list the activation date that was set for it. This date should display for the patron, and they should also be able to change that date to a different date in the future, not just unfreeze it and then refreeze it as of the current date.

  18. We received an idea to possibly redesign the "Find a Copy" menu so that viewing shelf locations would no longer need the user to click the library that they are searching for resulting in two clicks to see that information.

"You have to click on the library name itself in order to get a full picture of where an item is. It's an extra unnecessary step"

  19. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)

  20. Currently, when you allow patrons to edit patron profile fields like Email address, phone numbers, etc., you can Edit and Add. We don't want our patrons to Add in some cases, like Email, because when the patron does this in Vega, that means an additional z-tagged field in the record. Until Vega allows LX notices to go to more than 1 z-tagged field, we don't want patrons adding one and then wondering why they didn't get the notice to the e-mail address they just added. It's confusing. So if there was a check box for "Edit" and a check box…
