  1. The way the PAC currently works, the three buttons on the right of each search result (Availability, Full Display, and Place Request) always appear if the bib is for a physical item, but only "Full Display" appears for e-resources. This indicates that the PAC already has the capability to suppress these buttons if conditions specific to the search result are met. It would be helpful if this ability could be expanded so that if all the items attached to a bib record for a physical item are not holdable, the "Place Request" button does not appear. The appearance of that…

  2. Currently, when working through Picklist processing, items can be marked as "Located". While this is useful for in-library work flow to indicate that it has been found, it doesn't do anything to prevent another member library or branch location from filling the hold request when trapped at point of check-in. This causes problems in a multi-branch or larger consortia system where there is a higher chance of popular material being checked in throughout the day.

Ideally, it would be great if marking an item as "Located" not only changed the status from the Picklist, but also prevented another item from…

  4. When the callnumber column is pulled from itemrecorddetails via SQL (as opposed to SimplyReports) it includes trailing and leading spaces. It's easy to fix these unwanted spaces in the client, but they don't show up at all in Leap, so can't be fixed. If Leap is to replace the client eventually, it would be great to able to fully edit these fields in Leap (we are hosted, so can't easily modify the data via SQL).

  6. For TV series that have multiple volumes, or other volumed series associated with the same Bib record, I would like it when it prompts me about which volume I would like to place a hold on, to also give me the option to place a hold on all volumes.

  7. When deduplicating hold requests, Polaris looks at title, author, and material type. Therefore, it doesn't allow our customers to place holds on the same video game title for different consoles.

Please also consider UPC during the hold request duplicate detection process.

  8. In Polaris, staff can group holds on different formats together for patrons if, for example, they don't care whether they get the DVD or Blu-ray, or the regular print or large print. This would be great patron service if they could do that themselves.

  10. When creating a new account in Leap, it would be helpful if when the date of birth was less than 18 years from the registration date AND a patron code for adult patrons was selected, that an alert would display prior to saving, as we see for missing DOBs or other fields.

It should not be a hard block, as it is possible for someone under 18 to register as an adult, but the alert would catch attention to remind staff to confirm/correct during the registration process.

  11. Please expand the search functionality to include searching and pulling results for both the 024#a MARC tag, as well as 020#a

Functionally this will improve searches as results will include hits on an ISBN whether it's in 020 or 024

  12. A consistent piece of feedback we get from front-line staff is that patrons struggle to find where to turn on Reading History and that they themselves often forget where it is located. Having it buried within "My Record"-->"Contact Information and Preferences" and having to scroll down to it apparently is not effective. Having the "Reading History" tab always visible under the patron's name on the left-hand menu would be more effective, instead of having it only appear once Reading History has already been turned on.

  14. We would like to be able to copy an existing branch when creating a new branch, since often our additions are branch locations of an existing library that will have almost the same exact settings.

  15. Currently printing receipts from the Leap web app is unideal, requiring either significant manual intervention from the user or extensive browser tweaks to get it operable. A background desktop client (similar to JSPrintManager) could handle the printing far better than the browser does natively.

  16. Currently, when a user clicks on the library’s logo in the PAC header, we can specify a URL that opens. However, when they click it, the URL defaults to opening in the same page rather than in a new tab, causing the user to lose their PAC page and possibly their search results.

It would be helpful to have a branch-level option to change that default to open a new tab instead. It could be included with the other configuration options under Profiles > PowerPAC > Page Header Options in System Administration.

Yes, it is possible to ‘force’ a new…

  17. Being a visual learner it is complicated to go from the icons in Polaris being a much larger size and being in color to what is shown in Leap. The icons in Leap are much smaller and have no color to differentiate them. For the sake of Accessibility purposes is there any way that the icons can be bigger and to add a pop of color to them in Leap. Attached are pictures of the icons in Polaris from the toolbar vs Leap.

  18. Patron Privacy is becoming a much larger issue. We currently use a UDF to hold our Patron ID.

We'd like to suggest that having the ability to create some way to collect and keep private patron data such as an ID or other PII would be ideal. And having this information encrypted in the database would be preferable as well.

Being able to prevent this information from always showing, would be a benefit and even having the ability to only show a part of that information, such as the last four digits or something similar, would be useful.

  19. Staff have suggested that the Name on Identification area of the Leap registration form be collapsable, so that it will only be accessed if absolutely necessary. This measure would be an extra step in ensuring a patron's privacy, if a staff member accessing the record doesn't need that particular information.

  20. Having patrons blocked from placing holds if there account is blocked is greatly needed, as patrons can currently place holds through Leap, Vega, Mobile App even if they are blocked for having too many fines.
