  1. We would like to see additional information and functions available in the Polaris Client or LEAP so that staff have more resources and information to support customers with questions about online resources.

    For example, library staff would benefit from seeing real-time hold information in Polaris about items on Overdrive or Hoopla. Currently, Polaris shows an asterix (*) under holds. Library staff need to either go to the PAC or Overdrive to provide customers with this information.   2. Currently in Leap when checking out an item - if that item has an item specific hold on it for a patron - it does not provide a pop up or warning if you try to check out that item to another patron. In Polaris it would warn you that there was an existing hold on that copy. This was a very useful notice for circulation staff.

  4. Libraries need a way to quickly alert communities to closures during an emergency across all PAC pages. A banner appears across all pages of the PAC and is easily edited.

  5. We've discovered the keyboard shortcuts in LEAP do not work when you have cap locks on. Our catalogers are a 50/50 split on those who always have cap locks on while they work and those who don't. I'd like to have the option available for those who find it easiest to catalog with the cap locks and use the shortcuts.

  6. When checking-in an issue of a Professional serial, Leap will give a notification that a route list exists for that title. Leap will not link the new issue to the route list or print the list. Currently, my library has to use staff client when checking in Professional serials. It would be very helpful if this feature would be added to Leap.

  8. It would be awesome if we could add or adjust the information that displays on the Check In screen in Leap, for example to include an item's shelf location for easier staff sorting - and it would also help to catch Display items that have circulated on their return.

  9. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  10. To be able to select multiply purchase order line segments and make a bulk change to a particular field, (eg. coll. code, fund code) Sometimes an error occurs in the import process and each line has to be populated manually. It would be amazing to be able to select an entire column and make the change.

  11. In Simply Reports, some filter menus do not populate options until a library/branch is chosen (i.e. Shelf Location, Stat Code, Statistical Class). This is helpful for consortia because the menus only become populated with the options available at each selected branch(es), keeping the options to a manageable size.

    We would like to see this dynamic menu functionality applied to the Collection, Material Type, and Patron Code filters as well.

    Currently, our consortium has 55 Material Types, 57 Patron Codes, and 284 Collections to choose from in these menus, which becomes quite overwhelming for users and involves A LOT of tedious…

  12. When checking out a material and the the patron has history turned on, a pop-up appears saying this patron had out this item with a date or a number of days ago, so the patron doesn't check it out and immediately return it, especially would be helpful with ILL requests.

  13. When the callnumber column is pulled from itemrecorddetails via SQL (as opposed to SimplyReports) it includes trailing and leading spaces. It's easy to fix these unwanted spaces in the client, but they don't show up at all in Leap, so can't be fixed. If Leap is to replace the client eventually, it would be great to able to fully edit these fields in Leap (we are hosted, so can't easily modify the data via SQL).

  14. It would be helpful if we could move rows up and down in the item statistical class code policy table. We have librarians transferring items between branches that have statistical class codes in them. The codes will automatically change to a different code when assigned to the new branch because the position of the code in the policy table does not align. The cataloger must remember to update that field to the correct code.

    This would be beneficial to our librarians, simplify their workflow, and prevent errors.

  15. In Polaris, staff can group holds on different formats together for patrons if, for example, they don't care whether they get the DVD or Blu-ray, or the regular print or large print. This would be great patron service if they could do that themselves.

  17. Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.

    With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

    It would be a great time saver if there was an option for an automated new items carousel. We raised the issue with our account manager who spoke to…

  18. Currently the preview screen in Client and the Bibliographic level statistics screen in Leap provides circulation by Owning Branch. It would be more helpful in determining where a title is popular (and more useful for acquisitions) to have this data based on Loaning Branch. Use on a specific copy would still be accessible on the item record. If circulation by loaning branch can't be provided there, having it accessible elsewhere from the Bib record would be great.

  19. There should be an option to block patrons from placing holds on items if there is only one owning library and the circulation status of the item is listed as missing or in storage. While in storage items should be visible to patrons in the OPAC since sometimes that item can be taken out of storage if a patron wants it, they shouldn't be able to place a hold if there's only one owning library and their only copy is listed as in storage. Like withdrawn items, missing items simply shouldn't show up at all for patrons as an option.

  20. I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.

    This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.
