  1. Offer the ability to bulk update Serials issue records to a new status. We order multiple copies of most serials, and currently we have to open each issue to change it from "Claimed" or "Pending Claim" to "Not Available" when the vendor cannot supply it.

  2. Our Library will soon no longer be offering phone notification. I'd like the ability added to remove notification types (Phone 1,Phone 2 etc) from the staff interface so a invalid choice is not longer available. However, we'd still like the ability to record that information in the patron registration if needed.

  3. On bib / item records, display the release date of titles when the title is not yet released. This will remind users to not make books available when they are received but not yet released. This info might not be in the typical metadata bundle but would be very useful to have.

  4. We would like to set a dated note to auto float to the top. In the old notes we always put important notes on top so that it catches a staff members eyes quicker than reading through all the notes. We would also like to flag it in a way that indicates it shouldn't be deleted.

    Examples:
    We note accounts to indicate someone is a current employee or former employee with staff privileges.

    We note to not waive fines on patrons that we have had a lot of issues with. No one needs to read through all of their notes…

  6. When I adjust the language string with StringID ECTEXTBARCODE_PLACEHOLDER it is changed in two places, one of which is a surprise to me:
    * The wording in the input field for the patron card number and
    * The label for item information on the "Items Out" screen.
    The latter needs to have a separate StringID to make the former work in any meaningful way.

  7. In Sirsi, there was a quick option to post holdings to OCLC (for ILL holdings). In Polaris, we have to use OCLC Connexion and post the holding there for each item that is not automatic (like items from Ingram). This is not ideal, as it takes more steps to log into Connexion and find a good record (when we are already locating the record once from a remote database when we add the record in LEAP). It would be nice if there was an option to click to post the holding while cleaning up the record.

  8. QZ Direct to Print has helped streamline slip printing in Leap but one annoying dialog we didn't have to deal with in the staff client remains. During an RFID operation, if Leap is asked to print a receipt, RFID processing is paused (suspended) to allow the receipt to be printed. A pop up message appears to allow the user to continue RFID processing of any remaining items once the receipt is printed. There is currently no way to suppress this message.

  9. Right now, the only thing that displays in the list of workforms is the title. When comparing records with the exact same title, this can get confusing and requires too many clicks to make sure you are selecting the correct record. There needs to be more information displayed in addition to the title, and should at minimum have a control number.

  10. Please consider adding a GET PAPI method to retrieve the picklist. While it’s usually convenient to obtain the picklist from the client/Leap, having a direct API option would enable custom workflows and more flexibility for libraries.

  11. We would like the ability to print an item's barcode while in Leap. We have items that either require multiple barcodes for processing or items that have lost their barcode and it would be nice to print these directly from Leap to the printer of our choice.

    Currently staff need to grab the barcode from Leap and then open a different software to print the barcode label.

    This idea would also be nice if we can expand to a patron's barcode. Patrons come in and don't have their card for that visit but need it to access the computer. Rather…

  12. Add the ability to customize what fields are "copied" when clicking on the Copy button in a patron record. Or as an alternative, create custom patron templates that can be selected both when copying a record and creating a new record.

    For Example: Our Staff use the Copy function most often with registering multiple members in the same family. Rarely is the information in the Profile View the same (Name, Patron Code, Birth Date, etc.) and if staff aren't careful they could forget to change these fields - fields that are reflected in the various system tables.

  13. Please update Label Manager to restrict the Content option of Author from including subfields 0 and 1 when printing. These are relatively new fields for linked data. We would like to retain the data without have to manually deleting it in Label Manager to print pocket labels. They are valid in MARC21 and should be retained to future-proof our records for if and when Polaris makes use of linked data.

  14. The Circ Date in the item record workform (Circulation tab) is confusing. When an item is currently checked out, the circ date shows the date of the current checkout rather than the previous patron’s checkout date. This is confusing because it appears under “Last Use,” alongside the last borrower and branch information (see attached photo). It would be clearer if this field were labeled more explicitly or moved to a different area, perhaps below the Current Borrower (see attached mock-up).

We recently did an overhaul of our messaging in the notice strings to make things clearer for patrons, and we had issues with clear messaging for Almost Overdue and Autorenew notices, since there are sometimes two separate options for Almost Overdue and Autorenew notice strings, but not always. This only allows us to partially customize them separately, when we would like fully separate options. As a result, for certain strings, we are forced to be more vague, which is not ideal.

  16. Our patrons would like the ability to filter their Saved Title Lists by "available now" and "owning library", similar to search results in the catalog. This would enable them to walk into any library, look at their reading list, and see what is on the shelf now at a glance. Checking each title for availability and branch is tedious and time consuming.

  17. It's great being able to bulk-add records to a record set, but it would also be helpful to be able to bulk-remove records from a record set based on either another record set, or an Excel file.

    Today in larger record sets it can be a pain to remove a medium to large amount of records. Our staff may work with 10,000+ entry record sets, and need to remove records meeting certain criteria that isn't visible in the fields when viewing a record set.   19. In the Polaris Toolbar, when handling serial issue records, there was a direct action (called "Create Item Record") that would create an item record from a serial issue record. This is helpful for our staff for copying over enumeration and designation information.

    That same action is not present in Leap. Our staff would appreciate having this feature in Leap.

  20. We would like Polaris Leap to generate a default password/PIN for new patron records that can be turned on or off. We would prefer if one of the options for default passwords/PINs be 6-digit birthdate MMDDYY. Patrons can update their password/PIN in Vega if they want to. It would also be great if resetting the password/PIN resets it to the default.
