  1. We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection. Other customers may want to enforce selection of both Collection and Shelf Location. As long as…

  2. When checking-in an issue of a Professional serial, Leap will give a notification that a route list exists for that title. Leap will not link the new issue to the route list or print the list. Currently, my library has to use staff client when checking in Professional serials. It would be very helpful if this feature would be added to Leap.

  3. Currently, when limiting a search to the material type "Book", electronic resources (eBooks) are displayed as well. It would be nice if the material type "Book" only produced physical book results.

  4. Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.

    With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

    It would be a great time saver if there was an option for an automated new items carousel. We raised the issue with our account manager who spoke to…

  5. Currently the preview screen in Client and the Bibliographic level statistics screen in Leap provides circulation by Owning Branch. It would be more helpful in determining where a title is popular (and more useful for acquisitions) to have this data based on Loaning Branch. Use on a specific copy would still be accessible on the item record. If circulation by loaning branch can't be provided there, having it accessible elsewhere from the Bib record would be great.

  6. We would like there to be an option to add a note when declaring an item damaged from the patron account. Currently, there is no option to do that (see screenshot).

  7. Our staff searches for patrons by date of birth to check for duplicate accounts. It would be nice to enter only one date instead of two.

  8. Inventory Check-in via Leap is recorded as Check-ins for Item Statistic reports in SimplyReports. A way to filter inventory check-ins from statistical reports would be nice.

  9. Be able to bulk add stat codes. Currently we can only add at the branch level manually because the library and system level tables are too large. This requires a manual change or contracting Polaris every time we want to add stat codes for all locations.

  10. Currently, when a user clicks on the library’s logo in the PAC header, we can specify a URL that opens. However, when they click it, the URL defaults to opening in the same page rather than in a new tab, causing the user to lose their PAC page and possibly their search results.

    It would be helpful to have a branch-level option to change that default to open a new tab instead. It could be included with the other configuration options under Profiles > PowerPAC > Page Header Options in System Administration.

    Yes, it is possible to ‘force’ a new…

  11. Opening Day Collection orders are created when large numbers of new books and videos are needed to either create an entirely new collection for a branch or to partially replace a collection. Large orders tend to produce large quantities of invoices; for this reason, streamlining all possible aspects of invoice payments is essential to help expedite payments for these orders. It would be very helpful to all libraries if Polaris offered functionality to assign a specific cataloging fund to Opening Day Collection orders. The new functionality would save libraries significant labor when paying invoices for these orders without affecting regular…

  12. It would be useful for administrators and reporting if item records were not physically deleted from the database. Maybe the introduction of an additional item record status that leaves the record in the database but excludes it from all aspects but reporting and administrator access?

    In our case we need to report periodically on item records being deleted. Once the record has been double deleted by a branch, I can no longer see it in Polaris, so I am relying upon spreadsheets captured at different points in time to capture the necessary data. Having a status of "logically deleted" could…

  14. We would like to have more enhanced data fields within SimplyReports in order to help users create reports that can fit their needs a bit better. For example, we recently ran into an issue where a staff member wanted a field that can indicate status descriptions for Lost/Unpaid or Lost/Accruing. In this case, it was explained that there would need to be a combination of patron account information, item status information and library settings needing to be available in order for this to work. Can possibly looked into for the future?

  15. Our consortium just transitioned from Sierra to Polaris. When our item records were brought over, volume information was included in the volume field of an item record. Because no serial holdings information transferred from Sierra to Polaris, we have been recreating our Serial Holdings Records. When we generate items from the SHR, the issue information (chronology and/or enumeration) appears in a separated designation field on the record, which makes the display look terrible. An option to make the chronology/enumeration information appear in the item record's volume field instead of in a separate designation field is absolutely necessary for us to…

  16. More and more libraries circulate mobile wifi hotspots to the public. Polaris and Polaris Leap do not currently integrate with Kajeet, which is one of the more popular wifi hotspot providers for schools and libraries. It would be beneficial to libraries using the Polaris ILS to be able to streamline the circulation process such that checking in/out a hotspot in Polaris also activated/deactivated the hotspot itself.

  17. I'm guessing Leap being web-based makes this difficult to outright impossible but a warning sound effect for Leap's modal alerts would be nice.

    Something like:

    var audio = new Audio('audio_file.mp3');
    audio.play();

    Assuming alerts in leap use Bootstrap's modal function calling the audio function after the shown.bs.modal trigger fires might work.

  18. Similar to the change in 7.6 for Item Changes, it would be beneficial to be able to make the ad hoc changes to patron records. Our libraries could easily change their Juvenile patrons to Adult patrons using the Find tool.

  19. I would like an option to bulk print spine labels in 2 different circumstances. 1. For all items on a particular purchase order. 2. From a file (similar to the Check In>Action>Load From File works.

  20. Allow POLIs and INVLIs to be moved by staff with the correct permissions to a different bib than they were ordered on.

    We regularly order something that the vendor record matches to an ISBN in our catalog - sometimes this is because we have multiple ISBNs on a bib but the record is for a particular version, sometimes (mostly with AV) it is because the UPC has not been assigned as unique (rated and unrated versions, for example).

    When this happens, we would like the ability to move and reassociate the POLIs and INVLIs with the bib that houses the…
