  1. A consistent piece of feedback we get from front-line staff is that patrons struggle to find where to turn on Reading History and that they themselves often forget where it is located. Having it buried within "My Record"-->"Contact Information and Preferences" and having to scroll down to it apparently is not effective. Having the "Reading History" tab always visible under the patron's name on the left-hand menu would be more effective, instead of having it only appear once Reading History has already been turned on.

  4. Currently, the fund hierarchy report organizes at the Organization level by Org ID. This means that as new organization levels are added they drop to the bottom of the list, and I'm often looking at this from an alphabetical perspective. It would be helpful to have the option to organize the output alphabetically instead.

  5. When staff log out of Leap at the end of their shift, Microsoft prompts them to sign out of their Microsoft account. I think it confuses staff, they click on the prompt and then they get logged out of their Microsoft account. They then have to log back in and due to MFA need to get a code to log back in. This isn't ideal.
    Customer support said currently this behavior is how Leap with OAuth/SSO works. Leap uses the identity provider to control the login and logout when setup with OAuth/SSO. Can you place an enhancement request to see…

  6. When using a record set, it would be helpful if there was a column that shows when the item was added to the record set. We use record sets to create carousels that show new items on our PAC. The date added to record set would be helpful so we could remove the oldest things when refreshing our carousels.

  8. Similar to the change in 7.6 for Item Changes, it would be beneficial to be able to make the ad hoc changes to patron records. Our libraries could easily change their Juvenile patrons to Adult patrons using the Find tool.

  9. We need a way to bring perennial critical patron info to staff attention without creating blocks for customers or forcing staff to open the full patron registration. Having this info in the patron record header or properties would be ideal. For example: at our library, customer registered at branch is not critical info yet it is the most prominent value displayed in the header after name and card number, if we could designate UDF values to take it's place (such as bookmobile stop or language assist needed) or have space to reveal a designated UDF value under patron properties, it…

  11. In Polaris, a single delete of a bib/item record will result in that record being 'marked for deletion.' It is no longer visible in the PAC, but is still visible in Polaris with a Deleted status. Deleting a record in Deleted status, or what we've termed 'double-delete,' will result in the record being fully purged from the database.

    Sometimes, staff will delete a record and go back to it to verify the deletion. They see it's still visible in Polaris (missing the Deleted status) and delete it a second time. This accidental purging results in no longer being able to…

  12. I regularly have need to provide a list of items to partner organizations. This would be most easily accomplished by simply exporting the data from an existing record set to excel. I have also recently had need for an export option from a Patron Record set. Export is currently an option for Bib Record Sets and I am hoping it can be added for Patron and Item as well.

  13. Please add a link for the serials holding record to the bib record for serials, either under the Links menu or by displaying the serials record ID. Because the search box in Leap only retrieves bib records, often staff forget that they are looking at the bib record for a serial and so they have to perform a new search using the Find tool to get to the holding record.   14. If there is an issue with a scheduled Simply Reports job, it must be rerun manually. This includes problems with the SQL Job Polaris scheduling executive. For example, if one report takes longer than 30 minutes to run, the scheduling executive won't allow another instance of that SQL job to start, causing reports to be missed. Additionally, reports can be missed if the server is offline for a variety of reasons including during upgrades. Simply Reports should check the last run date for the report and reschedule it if the elapsed time is greater than the scheduled interval.

  15. I'm guessing Leap being web-based makes this difficult to outright impossible but a warning sound effect for Leap's modal alerts would be nice.

    Something like:

    Assuming alerts in leap use Bootstrap's modal function calling the audio function after the shown.bs.modal trigger fires might work.

  16. When using import profiles for EDI ordering you must add the "retain 020" field in order for the 020 to overlay onto an existing bib record when ordering additional copies. This is annoying because each time you reorder, another 020 line gets stamped into the bib - adding more lines for Cataloging staff to delete when the item comes in.

    If you remove the "retain 020 tag" no more duplicate 020s get stamped onto the bib, but also any new-to-the-bib 020 also does not get added. This is a problem especially with AV, where some vendors use a 020 tag…

  17. We often use the "Holds" reports of Simple Reports to watch demand on titles - especially the Hold Count report. It would be very helpful if UPC could be one of the output columns, so that we could copy it for media, which doesn't always have an ISBN in the vendor MARC.
    Right now we have to output the bib record id, copy it and search in Polaris, then copy the UPC from there.

  18. The Damaged feature in Polaris 7.5 was implemented without a permission to enable libraries to turn it off if they prefer their existing procedure. Because we can't turn it off and we have several hundred staff members, many new, all of whom do not have all our procedures memorized, some of the staff now use the Damage feature. This means that we now need a report to catch these transactions and extra staff time to undo them. To try to mitigate, we changed the string "Damaged" to "Do not use".   20. Allow POLIs and INVLIs to be moved by staff with the correct permissions to a different bib than they were ordered on.

    We regularly order something that the vendor record matches to an ISBN in our catalog - sometimes this is because we have multiple ISBNs on a bib but the record is for a particular version, sometimes (mostly with AV) it is because the UPC has not been assigned as unique (rated and unrated versions, for example).
