Hold Freeze/Suspend Enhancements
- Separate Freeze and Cancel Hold Buttons in Holds List
- Allow Patrons to Freeze a Hold when there are no other patrons in queue.
- Allow patrons to set a date when freezing a hold that the hold will unfreeze automatically.
- Add Hold Freeze/Cancel to Bulk Hold Operations.

Customers loved the ability in Encore to select titles and batch freeze or unfreeze those titles. They now have to individually freeze those titles.
Primary Use case: Customer going on holiday wants to freeze all of their holds

Great idea! Our customers really find this an extra step. They have told us that they would prefer to see 2 options - cancel and freeze.

I received this email from a patron today:
I have a request. I read a lot and it is not unusual for me to have 40 or more holds at any given time. That was the case recently when we went out of town. So that I would not miss any books I had to go through and individually request a Freeze on each of the 40+ books. I had to do an Unfreeze request on each when we got back. It would be nice to have a Freeze All option (and an Unfreeze All) to eliminate the tedium of doing those requests individually. -

I see you can pick a date in the future to suspend your hold till when you place the hold but still no option to do it after the hold has been placed.

Our Capira app offers this feature (new version), and our patrons seem to enjoy choosing their freeze dates. I would love to see it available in Vega Discover as well.

Edit Hold makes complete sense.

Yet another function available in the old catalog but not Vega. If you have a lot of holds, this is a lot of clicking to deal with.

Our customers have asked for the ability to suspend a hold to a future date rather than "Freeze" and "unfreeze". They don't want to check back after vacation to unfreeze all their holds, they just want to choose a future date.

Funny coincidence, I just got this same question from a colleague. The note on the idea says it was released, but if I go into one of my existing holds, I only have the option to freeze it indefinitely -- no option to set a reactivation date.

Did this enhancement get released? I cannot find a way for customers to choose a date to re-activate their holds.

At the very least the label should be freeze hold instead of cancel. Many more patrons suspend holds than cancel them outright.

This is important to customers that want to manage their holds without relying on staff to add a "not need before" date. A similar idea is here for another product called "always be able to freeze a hold in catalogue": https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951745-ils-sierra/suggestions/47342099-always-be-able-to-freeze-a-hold-in-catalogue-s

Within the account view, allow patrons to select multiple holds. Provide the ability to bulk cancel / bulk freeze / bulk unfreeze the selected titles.

Agree that it is not at all intuitive that "Freeze" is a hidden dropdown option under "Cancel Hold." WebPAC has "Cancel" on the right of the hold information line and "Freeze" on the left so they are both visible at the same time and also not in danger of being mixed up.

Hi Samantha. I would like to understand the functionality coming on the road map. It looks like there will be the ability to adjust the number of days before a hold will expire, but it isn't presented to the patron as a "Freeze Until" end date. Is that functionality planned?

patrons would like the ability to place a hold on a title and freeze that hold until they need it, even if that title has no other holds. Now, as in Encore, if a title has no other holds you can't place a freeze on it

I'll build a separate request for this but it sort of piggybacks on the idea... Please allow patrons to see recently missed holds and reactive them like on the classic polaris pac. In the past if they missed a held item they could rejoin the list right from their account. Currently we can do this on the staff side for them, but are unable to grant the user access to see their expired or missed held items for "reactivation".

Previously, if someone placed items on hold but wanted to suspend the hold into an inactive status (to reactivate by a certain date -- i.e. July 10, 2023), they could specify the date in their holds list. In Vega Discover, there is no option to suspend the hold until a certain date. A patron can only freeze the hold until they select unfreeze. Would there be a way to have both options (Freeze and inactive status with a specific date)? I know that patrons who are on vacation until a certain date appreciate selecting an exact date for the hold request to resume automatically.
