  1. Do this by creating a record set and using 'Ad Hoc Bulk Change' or 'Bulk Change' to change the circulation status from 'Lost' to 'Withdrawn', retaining the bill and item information on the patron's account.

  2. It is frustrating that Polaris allows items that have not been received to circulate. There is probably not a connection between the PO status and the item status – but it sure would be nice if there was! We recently had an incident where items were distributed to branches before having been invoiced and received. A few days later when the invoice was processed, the items were all changed to a status of In-Process, even though they had already been checked out or were in a status of Being Held.   3. At the demonstration of Leap at IUG, we learned that PO line item duplicate check action is not available in Leap from the PO workform. We need to be alerted to existing items in our systems if we own them, to attach add copy orders to existing bibs. Please add this functionality.

  4. While Leap Item Record views are pretty robust, they often lack a very critical piece of information - Last Activity Date. Modification and Creation date display in Properties but Last Activity Date is not displayed. While it can sometimes be found in the History view, this is not always the case. Sometimes History is empty in Leap. We reference Last Activity date in the staff client on a regular basis and need ready access to that same information in Leap

  5. It would be useful to have a pop-up alert for notes to patrons that are important, but not so urgent we need to block their record. This would mean that when staff scanned their card at check out, there would be an obvious pop-up to alert them of a message, rather than relying on them noticing a colour change to the Notes link.

  6. Details on items going in-transit, enroute, and/or transferred are not kept within the Polaris Transactions database. Instead, the data is only kept within the Polaris database. This means if an item is deleted, then statistics on it going in-transit/transferred/enroute are lost. The enhancement request here would be to include that information into the Polaris Transactions database.

  7. Being able to see a more complete circulation statistics for the lifetime of a title gives selection staff a more complete picture of the use of a title, in order to make better decisions about purchasing future titles by an author or in a series.

  8. When staff are placing individual holds for a patron Leap and the Desktop client allow staff to use the pickup branch as the branch where the staff member is logged in*. For libraries with centralized call centers it would be helpful to offer to use the patron's preferred branch when placing the hold request for the patron.

    Of course, this will need to be cleared indicated to the staff member what their preferred location is as they should still verbally confirm that is the location they want to use.

  9. In Simply Reports, some filter menus do not populate options until a library/branch is chosen (i.e. Shelf Location, Stat Code, Statistical Class). This is helpful for consortia because the menus only become populated with the options available at each selected branch(es), keeping the options to a manageable size.

    We would like to see this dynamic menu functionality applied to the Collection, Material Type, and Patron Code filters as well.

    Currently, our consortium has 55 Material Types, 57 Patron Codes, and 284 Collections to choose from in these menus, which becomes quite overwhelming for users and involves A LOT of tedious…

  11. When using import profiles for EDI ordering you must add the "retain 020" field in order for the 020 to overlay onto an existing bib record when ordering additional copies. This is annoying because each time you reorder, another 020 line gets stamped into the bib - adding more lines for Cataloging staff to delete when the item comes in.

    If you remove the "retain 020 tag" no more duplicate 020s get stamped onto the bib, but also any new-to-the-bib 020 also does not get added. This is a problem especially with AV, where some vendors use a 020 tag…

  12. I regularly have need to provide a list of items to partner organizations. This would be most easily accomplished by simply exporting the data from an existing record set to excel. I have also recently had need for an export option from a Patron Record set. Export is currently an option for Bib Record Sets and I am hoping it can be added for Patron and Item as well.

  13. At times our vendors send us a substitution for the item we ordered. It would be helpful to be able to change the dollar amount in the POLI when this happens so that the encumbered funds accurately reflect what is on order.

  16. Currently we have to send patrons from our websites to the PAC if they need to reset their passwords. It would be great if there was an API call for this, as it's disruptive to the patron experience to have to send them to another site.

    The suggested functionality would reflect the PAC experience: once they enter a barcode, a password reset email would be sent to the email address on the account.

  18. With 7.1, Polaris administrative settings can now be accessed on the web, which includes PAPI Key Management. However, the PAPI keys can be accessed and changed today by anyone with the permission 'Access Administration - Allow' (which gives basic access to system admin settings).

    We give some of our staff access to admin settings, for activities like adding workstations and updating branch hours. As it stands these users can access and change the API settings through web-admin, but they should be secured so only systems administrators have access.   19. Add the ability to add a 006 or 007 field to records via bibliographic bulk change in Leap. Leap has the ability to edit existing fixed fields via bulk change and the staff client offers the ability to add a new 006 or 007 via bulk change, so this would be part of bringing Leap into parity with the staff client.   20. We have instances where an EDI invoice from a vendor will contain materials that were ordered both via EDI and directly through the vendor. The EDI invoice in Polaris only includes the EDI ordered materials and then we add a line item for the materials that were not ordered via EDI.
    In LEAP we are able to add a line item to an EDI invoice but we are not able to receive it manually like we are in the client. I have included a screenshot to illustrate this.
