  1. Polaris supports a preferred pickup branch for patrons. This request is to extend that support to allow the patron to set a preferred pickup area.

    Many patrons prefer to 100% always use a particular pickup area, for example outside lockers. So, they shouldn't have to select that area everytime they make a request.

  2. Sometimes I have a lot of records open in the workform tracker, and it's a pain to have to go into each to close it. It would be useful to have a button I could quickly click to close them instead.

    In cases where a record has been modified it should generate a prompt about saving changes, and show you the record again in this case so it's clear what's being saved.

  3. Please add a link for the serials holding record to the bib record for serials, either under the Links menu or by displaying the serials record ID. Because the search box in Leap only retrieves bib records, often staff forget that they are looking at the bib record for a serial and so they have to perform a new search using the Find tool to get to the holding record. Today if a record set is deleted it's still visible in the list of record sets a specific record is a part of (either on the Record Sets tab in Leap, or list of Linked Record Sets in the client). However there's no clear indicator that it's a deleted record set, which can cause confusion for staff. It would be helpful if the Record Status column was visible, and if there was an option to not display deleted record sets (ideally the setting could be applied at various organizational levels).   6. Patron records have 5 UDFs and 10 Custom Data Fields – item records have none of these. As a result, many libraries end up doing some weird stuff with the Name of Piece and Temporary Shelf Location. This idea would add 10 or so custom item record fields that libraries can choose how they would like to use.

  7. Currently, customers' first, middle and last names display identically in Leap patron accounts. This can make identifying the last name difficult which impacts staff ability to properly address customers and to accurately retrieve holds for customers with more than 1 last name. We propose bolding or in some other way making more distinctive in the patron account header any values in coming from the last name field in patron registration.   8. Currently deleting older Import Reports and Bulk Change Reports is manual and can be very time consuming. Our consortium has generated a lot over time, and even once we get through the backlog it would be onerous to keep up with regular activity. It would be handy if there was a process that could run on the back-end deleting these, so managing a backlog doesn't need to be a concern.

  9. Allow bulk change to all fields in the bulk change workform when the record set contains patrons from more than one registered branch. Currently, the system requires that a single registration branch must be applied to the patron records before changing the patron code and/or the library assigned blocks. These values are set at the branch level; however, most libraries use consistent patron codes and blocks across branches.

  10. I realized recently that all our bibliographic records have the Modification Date populated, even new records. It turns out that the process of creating the record will update the Modification Date due to an aspect of the process. This doesn't seem part of the intended design, so it would make sense to correct the process to stop adding a Modification Date entry.

  12. Please combine the items and the statistics on the bib record into one section so that we can see circ stats and item status without having to click multiple areas. We need this data to help us determine whether an item should be transferred from another branch, repaired, or replaced. Attached is how it looks in Staff Client, and it would be great if we could see this view in LEAP.

  13. I don't know if this is already planned for a future version; I didn't see it on the current roadmap, though. It's really important for cataloguers that they be able to save a bib record without having to make a change first, particularly for provisional bib records. The only way to make a provisional record become final is to resave it, and currently, Leap requires you to make a change in any bib record before saving it. I know the duplicate detection without saving is now available, and that's a great feature - but allowing at least provisional bib records…

  14. Currently, if I am checking a hold to a patron, there is a pop-up letting me know there are holds to check out. I would like that to not pop-up if the barcode I have scanned is one of the holds I am currently checking out. It is fine if it's not one of the holds, or the hold is at another location, but it is frustrating when I already have the holds in front of me.

  15. If staff attempt to check out an item with an "unexpected" status, such as Withdrawn, Unavailable, or Missing the checkout fails, with an error message "unexpected item status." Staff must check the item in to change its status to Available, and then check it out. This breaks the flow of the checkout transactions and causes a delay for the patron.   16. We have instances where an EDI invoice from a vendor will contain materials that were ordered both via EDI and directly through the vendor. The EDI invoice in Polaris only includes the EDI ordered materials and then we add a line item for the materials that were not ordered via EDI.
    In LEAP we are able to add a line item to an EDI invoice but we are not able to receive it manually like we are in the client. I have included a screenshot to illustrate this.

  18. When using import profiles for EDI ordering you must add the "retain 020" field in order for the 020 to overlay onto an existing bib record when ordering additional copies. This is annoying because each time you reorder, another 020 line gets stamped into the bib - adding more lines for Cataloging staff to delete when the item comes in.

    If you remove the "retain 020 tag" no more duplicate 020s get stamped onto the bib, but also any new-to-the-bib 020 also does not get added. This is a problem especially with AV, where some vendors use a 020 tag…

  20. When libraries within our consortium borrow and lend items among each other, they send those items through the mail. Currently, they have to manually look up each other's mailing addresses (many times by Googling which isn't always accurate). It would save staff time and reduce errors if a library's mailing address could be included on the In-Transit Slips.
