Full support for emoji in Polaris Label Manager
Many libraries like to call attention to their genre fiction through the use of spine label stickers and icons. For instance, science fiction items may feature an image of a grey alien, mysteries have a magnifying glass or a skull and crossbones, and westerns use a cowboy or a horse or something similar. The thing is, there's no reason a library couldn't print the icons on the spine labels themselves using emoji.
👽 = Science Fiction
🐴 = Western
💀 = Mystery
🦄 = Fantasy
🏰 = Historical Fiction
And so on. However, the Polaris Label Manager barely supports any…

Improve Student/Patron Import
The Problem
At best, the method and workflow used to bulk import patrons into Polaris (often referred to as student import) is archaic. The Polaris documentation for this process, Importing Student Records as Patron Records, is 19 pages long and seven of those pages are definitions and descriptions for the format of a pipe delimited file. This file contains 65 separate columns, all of which must be included in the file even if they contain no information. The documentation defines at least three columns that you should not populate… so why are they there? You can obtain a sample Excel…

Include item barcodes on billing notices
Currently item barcodes are not included on the billing notices. We double check the shelves for billed items prior to mailing the bill to the patron. Often we have multiple copies of the item. To ensure that the bill is accurate and the items are truly missing, we have to take the other copies to the circulation desk and double check their status. This is time consuming, inefficient and occurs frequently. Item barcodes are include on the overdue notices. I would like to see them included on the billing notice too.
Idea Value
This would simplify the workflow, reduce staff…50 votes -
Bulk Delete Item Records in Leap
Now that we have the capability to do ad hoc bulk changes to item records from the bibliographic record in Polaris 7.6, we also need the ability to delete item records in bulk. The workflow in the Client includes the ability to select multiple item records ad-hoc, right click on them, and press delete (or undelete). Delete and undelete buttons should be added next to the Bulk Change button on the Local Items and All Items tabs of the bibliographic workform in Leap. An alternate option could be to add a delete option to the bulk change.

Auto update member code from Junior to Adult when they turn 18
Having member codes change automatically based off patron age, changing junior to adult when they turn 18.

Allow greater customization of slips/receipts
Currently, receipt/slip configuration is hard-coded into Polaris system administration. Libraries are limited in what information they can add to a receipt or slip and do not have control over design elements in sys admin. Innovative does not recommend modifying the related SQL job to make changes there. It would be helpful to have greater flexibility and customization options for libraries, especially for hold and in-transit slips. For example, a library could configure in-transit slip information to match what is required by their library system's delivery service.

Authority Deletion Functionality
The process for deleting authorities is very time intensive. The process should work like deleting item or bib records and allow for not being notified for blocking/non-blocking notes. There should also be a default for how to handle deleted authorities, flip, unlink, etc. This would make the process much easier and quicker.
Idea Value
This would be a huge time saver for staff.48 votes -
Improve Leap Offline by not relying on saved data in the browser cache
Some libraries use tools like Deep Freeze (that discard any changes to previous work sessions) or manage settings so that browser caches are cleared when closed or when the user logs out. Since Leap Offline stores data transactions in the browser cache, anything that is not uploaded to the database will be lost in such occurrences.

Un-cancel a purchase order line item
The ability to un-cancel a cancelled Purchase Order Line Item. Sometimes an order cancelled by a vendor will arrive anyways, or one edition is cancelled then later substituted for another. In these cases, it would be preferable to un-cancel the original POLI than to create a new one, or start from scratch at the invoice stage. Un-cancelling the POLI would also allow us to maintain the connection between the POLI and the Invoice Line Item.
Idea Value
This would save time and confusion for acquisitions staff, and allow us to maintain the connections between PO, Invoice and Item.45 votes -
Transitioning Claim Returned and Claim Never Had
We would like Polaris to transition items with a Circulation Status of Claim Returned and Claim Never Had to Withdrawn after a specified number of days. We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and the Missing Item Transition.
Idea Value
Adding this feature would allow a library to automatically remove items from patron view and allow for a more streamline process for deleting item records.44 votes -
Exclude ebooks from "Book" Material Type for searching
Currently, when limiting a search to the material type "Book", electronic resources (eBooks) are displayed as well. It would be nice if the material type "Book" only produced physical book results.

Printing and Exporting Reading History in the Polaris
We have had several library members ask why there are not capable of printing their reading history from their account in Polaris. It would be great if there was a print button at the top of their reading history. Can this be be added?
Idea Value
Very helpful for the elderly. They prefer a hard copy and/or have to wait for a family member to visit to show them their reading history.43 votes -
LEAP - Picklist processing display - customize fields (exact fields TBD)
Currently the picklist processing report is as-is with no options to modify.
We've found it would be helpful for our library to have the last activity date to display when printing the picklist as items may have been returned within the last few days and on their way to being re-shelved or possibly on shelf for years & actually missing. Thinking others may have additional fields that would be of use to them as well.
It would be a helpful enhancement for staff to have the ability to choose additional fields to customize & re-arrange the columns on the picklist…

Add date added column to record set
When using a record set, it would be helpful if there was a column that shows when the item was added to the record set. We use record sets to create carousels that show new items on our PAC. The date added to record set would be helpful so we could remove the oldest things when refreshing our carousels.

Select multiple branches more easily in LEAP find tool.
In the Find Tool, allow users to filter by a library organization's branches by selecting a library 'quick pick' option. This would eliminate the need for a system used by multiple libraries to click each branch associated with their organization.
Idea Value
In the Find Tool, in order to filter a search for an item with an assigned branch within our library organization, we are required to select the checkbox next to each branch from the drop-down menu. We have over 20 branches, which makes the filter cumbersome. We would like to be able to select all of our branches…42 votes -
Unrelease a PO in Leap
Acquisitions staff would like the ability to un-release a purchase order. Currently, once a purchase order is released, you are unable to go back and make any changes if you realize you made a mistake. Instead, acquisitions staff are having to delete the entire PO and start a new one from scratch.

Undo/Redo Buttons in the Leap MARC Editor
In the Client, there are undo and redo buttons. The undo button is particularly useful when someone has made a mistake. It quickly allows staff to correct the mistake by pressing a single button. When training technical services staff to use Leap, this button is clearly missed. Having this button will make the transition to Leap easier. Questions and comments about the lack of the undo button are common during training.

Duplicate detection as separate action for bibs and authorities in Leap
In the client, duplicate detection for MARC records is triggered by (re)saving the record, but can also be triggered separately as an action under the Tools menu. In Leap, resaving the record is the only way to trigger the function. This means cataloguers have to do a fake edit in order to un-grey-out the save button and click past any other functions, such as MARC validation, before they can get to the matching record(s).
Having duplicate detection as a separate function (maybe under Actions or as a button in the MARC view) would save cataloguers time and extra clicking.

Force Leap Logout at Browser Close
Leap should force logout when browser/browser tab is closed. Forcing a logout at browser/browser tab close would ensure that any open editable records are closed out as well.

Add Library Level to Hold Pickup Limit
Currently, a library may limit an item to be holdable for pickup at a single branch location. This setting allows the item to be limited to pick up at the item's assigned branch only. While this feature may work for single-branch libraries, it does not function in a practical way for multi-branch libraries. Expanding this feature to have a library-level option would increase the usability of this setting.
Example 1: Library A has 3 branches. They want to make their mobile hotspots holdable for pickup at any of their 3 branches. They do not want their hotspots to be placed…
