As a multi-branch system that floats some of our collections, we desperately need a way to set limits on the number of copies on shelf without giving up our ability to set limits on overall floating collection size. Currently in Polaris you must choose one limit or the other. Being able to spread copies throughout our system makes them more available for discovery and increases circulation.

  2. In PAC, Language only searches the 008 field (the item's primary language). It should also search 041 subfields a and d (the item's other languages). For example, if we have a bilingual book in English and Spanish, a search for materials in Spanish will not find it because Spanish is not the primary language in the 008 field.

  3. We'd like the ability to suppress headings in the Subject facet based on the heading's source (subfield 2 in the bibliographic record). Currently my consortium is deleting FAST and Sears subject/genre headings from the bib record because we don't want them to display in the Subject facet, and there's no way to hide them otherwise. This takes staff time, and also means the data is not available if we decide to use the headings in the future. There are probably other libraries not taking time to delete these headings, who would like a simple way to suppress them.

  4. I would like to have the option to require a customer to complete a captcha challenge to signup online for a PAC card.

    I would also like the option to require customers to complete a captcha challenge when signing onto the PAC.

  5. In Leap relabel the current submit Close button to Receipt. Add an additional button next to it called Close that that would close the record check out the material but would not generate a paper receipt print dialog box etc.

    This would save paper for those libraries that have suppressed the print dialog box in their browsers for Leap and patrons that did not want a paper receipt.

  6. When using Leap on an iPad, if you select a record to view and then close it you are sent back to the beginning of the list. It would be an improvement to be able to go right back to where you selected the item record.

  7. Currently, receipt/slip configuration is hard-coded into Polaris system administration. Libraries are limited in what information they can add to a receipt or slip and do not have control over design elements in sys admin. Innovative does not recommend modifying the related SQL job to make changes there. It would be helpful to have greater flexibility and customization options for libraries, especially for hold and in-transit slips. For example, a library could configure in-transit slip information to match what is required by their library system's delivery service.

  8. In the patron registration form in LEAP there is a reading history checkbox. If the patron has a reading history, clearing the checkbox and saving the record deletes that reading history permanently, and there is no warning to staff about what clearing the checkbox actually does. On clearing the checkbox, please add a warning dialog that says, "This patron's reading history will be permanently deleted. Please confirm that you want to delete it." [OK][Cancel] with focus on Cancel. This way staff will have to confirm overtly that they want to delete patron data and will be less likely to make…

  9. I'd be really helpful if it were possible to claim lost items. This has always been an issue here at Chicago Public Library, but even more so after we went fine free and started making items go lost after seven days. Now items often go lost before patrons notice, and it takes a lot of staff time to return the items and check them back out to the patron just to claim them.

  10. Currently only Item record sets have the option to bulk change selected records (Polaris 6.2). We'd like this to be available in all other record sets.

  11. We just upgraded to 6.5 and I'm very pleased with the ability to save record set changes as a template to use again and again. I make frequent identical changes on bibs in bulk mode to fields for incoming records. I know some people use MarcEdit for this purpose. Instead of having go "outside the system" for this process, it would be fabulous to be able to save frequently and repeated bibliographic bulk changes as templates for future records.

  12. This idea has been brought up before I believe as an enhancement. We would like more specific permission levels in item modifications. Specifically we need the ability to set permission to modify the Circulation Parameters in an item record (Material type, Loan period, Fine code, Renewal limit, separate from permission to change any Call number fields. This would allow us to choose which modifications certain levels of staff have the permission to perform.

  13. Ability to check out items to patrons; check in items

    The Polaris API does not provide methods for checking out (issuing/charging) items to patrons.

    It also doesn't provide methods to check in (return/discharge) items after being returned to the library.

  14. Currently when a patron replaces their library card and gets a new barcode, staff have to manually reconnect them with their Libby account, which is connected to their old card number. This update should be automated so that patrons who lose their library cards don't also lose access to Libby or other eResources. I'm not sure if this would require an update to the API (?)

  15. Currently, the new 7.4 item language field is using the same Languages table used in patron registration. For patron records, the language preference field displays in their account in PowerPAC. Patrons use this field to select their preferred notification language.

    If a library wants to add a new language to the Languages table, it will be added as an option for both item records and patron accounts. This is problematic, because many libraries purchase materials in far more languages than they offer notices in.   16. I'm repeatedly finding instances where a patron is missing their registration date. At first, I thought it was migrated data, but after updating those records, I discovered it happening over and over. Please prevent the registration date from being deleted.

  17. We circulate culture passes (e.g. admission to local museums, the zoo, etc.) that don't need to be returned. I've created some queries to easily identify the items that are due so that staff can check them in. It would be nice to have a setting that would automatically check the items in on their due date so that manual steps don't need to happen. We check the items out for statistical purposes and because we want to limit how many passes are checked out to a patron at a given time.

  18. Currently, a library may limit an item to be holdable for pickup at a single branch location. This setting allows the item to be limited to pick up at the item's assigned branch only. While this feature may work for single-branch libraries, it does not function in a practical way for multi-branch libraries. Expanding this feature to have a library-level option would increase the usability of this setting.

  19. In Admin > Parameters > Patron Services > Patron registration options > Required Fields tab only five fields are listed - Address, Birth date, Gender, Password, and Statistical class. We would like to require that Notification Option be filled in before the record is saved. There may be fields that other libraries would like to make required, such as Phone.
