  1. It would be helpful to have an indicator for if a patron has circulation blocks in the response of the AuthenticatePatron API endpoint. This would allow vendors and custom integrations to determine if a patron should be allowed access to a system based on if they are allowed to checkout items without having to do an additional API call.

  2. When leap offline data is uploaded, it goes into [LeapOfflineTransactionDataID]. This contains PII information of the items & patrons that performed CKOs. However, this data is never cleared by the system, even after it is processed.

    I can see keeping it around for awhile, but maybe have it follow one of the other settings in SA for purging data or set up a new SA setting for purging this PII data.

  3. More and more libraries circulate mobile wifi hotspots to the public. Polaris and Polaris Leap do not currently integrate with Kajeet, which is one of the more popular wifi hotspot providers for schools and libraries. It would be beneficial to libraries using the Polaris ILS to be able to streamline the circulation process such that checking in/out a hotspot in Polaris also activated/deactivated the hotspot itself.

  4. We already have the option in 7.6 to export print, phone, and TXT notices via the native Polaris admin settings. The only format that cannot be exported is email.

    It would make notices integrations to third-party and other hosted solutions more accessible and easier to maintain if the same functionality were supported for all notification methods.

  5. I'm guessing Leap being web-based makes this difficult to outright impossible but a warning sound effect for Leap's modal alerts would be nice.

    Something like:

    var audio = new Audio('audio_file.mp3');
    audio.play();

    Assuming alerts in leap use Bootstrap's modal function calling the audio function after the shown.bs.modal trigger fires might work.

  6. LEAP - Outreach Services: When processing held items in Outreach Services, items for a patron will deselect after checking out. This requires staff to go back and reselect the desired items to print a packing list.

    The ability to turn packing lists on such that they print with CKO would be appreciated.

    A prompt to "print packing list?" during CKO would also work.

  7. In the 7.5 update, which introduces the ability to cancel items in "shipped" and "held" statuses, I suggest extending this cancellation privilege to staff members exclusively. When patrons cancel items that are on hold, those items are often already on the hold shelf, and the system's only notification to staff is by adding the item to the cancelled hold list.

    By allowing only staff to cancel holds, they could promptly remove the item from the shelf and cancel it directly, eliminating the need for setting an expiration date or other measures to force its expiration.

  8. It would be nice if Authorized User (custom field under Attribute on patron registration) can be added to the header in Leap so staff do not have to open up(click) the patron registration to see it.

    We would like for this field to be visible when staff opens the check out screen for a patron without having to open their registration screen.

  11. One of our member libraries have displayed interest in having the option to include the ability to attach multiple patron barcodes onto one patron record. The want for this is due to the interest of adding collectible library cards to their location. They also spoke to another library uses the Sierra ILS. It was stated that their ILS has that functionality already.

  12. There can be accounts that are expired and are still able to check out ebooks. Expired accounts are no longer valid and should be blocking at least in the integration function between the ebook vendor and Polaris.
    If this isn't possible, can the checkout action trigger an email notice to the customer to have their library account renewed or reviewed.
    This should happen each day an integrated eContent transaction occurs.
    Keeping the account up to date will prevent the account from being closed or purged.

  13. We had a staff member let us know that they had a credit on their personal account and they found the process of dealing with the credit to be a little frustrating. The credit did not automatically apply to their other fees and there was no way for them (as a patron) to tell the system to apply the credits. The only option was for the patron to get in touch with staff to have this taken care of. This would give the patrons more flexibility for managing their account.

  15. This is somewhat of an add-on to other improvement requests to the multiple holds feature. We would like to have an option for bib-level multiple holds. We have noticed that when teachers or book club leaders are placing the multiple holds and assigned to an item-level hold, they might get routed to a member library that doesn't frequently check their requests. This is absolutely a training issue, but we do see this a lot with our K-12 school libraries. We would like to see an option to put them in the queue as a bib-level hold where they will get…

  16. When a patron accidentally scans an item twice at the ExpressCheck, it performs an auto-renew. It would be nice to have an alert stating it's a duplicate checkout or something that prevents it from using a renewal.

  17. Items can be added to a record set via a text file. This is very convenient and quick. It would be helpful to be able to place multiple holds via a text file. I would like to be able to upload a text file via the more menu (just like adding to a record set), which would then place a hold on each item in the text file.

    This way a group of items a user wants to put on hold doesn't need to be put in a record set first, cutting out an entire step.

  18. When we apply customer payments in Polaris, staff select payment type from a customer (cash/check/CC). Payment type is recorded in payment reports to reconcile our credit card statements each month. Sometimes a person will mistakenly record a payment as cash when it should have been CC. Once recorded, a mistakenly selected payment type cannot be corrected in Polaris. It would save significant time if an edit/correction option was available.

  19. Currently, Polaris allows all staff members to override a hold and check out a Held item to a different patron. We need a System Administrator (SA) permission to control this functionality. Our preference is to prevent staff from overriding holds, ensuring items are always checked out to the requesting patron.

  20. It'd be nice if fines could be ineligible for being waived by staff from any library other than the owning library. In our consortia staff can waive any fine regardless of how much it is and what library it's from, this also goes for lost and damaged items on a patron's card. This can lead to staff just waiving fines that they shouldn't be waiving, or accidentally paying out lost/damaged items for another library, which we aren't supposed to do.
