Include Active Directory in web-based System Administration
The current method for changing a Polaris Staff Member's password is clunky and not ideal if part of a large library system. Additionally, all SA management is moving towards the web-based interface. It makes sense to incorporate staff password management into the SA web-based interface.

When refreshing the Leap Offline installation, offer the Offline mode link again
When you refresh the Offline installation in Leap it would be good to present the URL for Offline mode bookmarking again. The suggestion would be to show it in the pop-up toast message once the offline data is refreshed.
There currently is not an easy way for staff to get to the Offline link again without deleting the offline files and setting it up again.

Allow patrons to group holds for different formats (like staff can in Polaris)
In Polaris, staff can group holds on different formats together for patrons if, for example, they don't care whether they get the DVD or Blu-ray, or the regular print or large print. This would be great patron service if they could do that themselves.

Assign New INN-Reach Holds at the Bib Level, For Easier Transferring Between Copies
Currently, incoming requests are assigned from the INN-Reach central server to a specific copy in the catalog. If for some reason that item cannot be found or used, staff must undertake a lengthy multi-step process to transfer the item-level hold to another copy.
Keeping the hold at the bib level and letting Polaris assign it to an item will reduce the time it takes to transfer INN-Reach holds between copies will save a lot of staff time in communicating and processing, and further will reduce delays in getting the request fulfilled and sent out.

Allow Staff to Select City/Town When Multiple Locations Share the Same Postal Code
Currently, there are two options for handling postal codes, which I like to term: “Wild West” and “In Lock Down”. The postal codes are collected and managed within the Postal Code table in Administration>Explorer>Database Tables. Staff functionality is governed by the permission Patron registration: Modify postal address fields.
The Wild West option is to allow staff the permission to enter any address information provided by patrons, resulting in a table populated with a lot of incorrect city/town to postal code data. This way lies madness and continuous clean-up.On the other hand, removing the permission from staff logins, puts them…

Allow Floating's Load Balancing option to be set at the Library-Level
Currently, Floating's Load Balancing option can only be enabled at the System-Level in Polaris. I am on a shared Polaris server where one library system wants Load Balancing and one library system does not want it. This leaves us with not turning the feature on. It would be nice to allow Floating's Load Balancing option to be set at the Library-Level.

Turning off Item Renewal at the Patron level
I would like to be able to adjust auto-renewals at a Patron level in addition to the item level. This would help some of our patron's who may have difficulty understanding how renewals work. This may seem silly, but we have had some cognitively impaired patrons become severely confused and upset when they think they are "wasting renewal's". Being able to adjust these settings individually at the patron record portion would be extremely helpful. Excluding them from the auto-renewal notice is a band-aid, but this causes other confusing issues with the patrons as a result.

See system-wide item availability while placing a hold for patron
Staff would like to see the availability of items displayed on the screen while placing a hold for patrons via the patron's account.

Enter manual patron notifications (esp calls) into the Notifications History
Calls to a patron to notify them of books on hold can't be added to Polaris.
It would be especially helpful if we could manually add notifications (even if we manually email a patron) and the appropriate reason/time into the notifications history. I've seen a "dated notes" suggestion here but don't feel these are the same.

Export all ILL request from every branch location at once
Idea Value:
In Circulation Request Manager include the option to be able to export every ILL Request from every branch location at once. Libraries will benefit from having the export all ILL Requests option, being able to retrieve all ILLs at once, instead of having to select each branch individually and right-click to export each item.9 votes -

Search Results Page number options
Patrons don't have much options when paging through many pages of search results and have requested the ability to navigate through page numbers. As an example, if there are 100 page results, patrons can only go to next page, last page, first page or previous page. They want to be able to manually enter a page number (for example page 72) to go to that page of results. Switching to total results per page default from 10 to 100 doesn't help with a large number of results.

Polaris API Making Lists Sortable By Title
A customer contacted us recently and asked if we could possibly add a feature where lists can be sorted alphabetically by title. Since this functionality isn't currently available in the API, I wonder if it could be added?

Preview for MARC Import
There should be a preview or staging phase when importing new MARC records where you can see what duplicates are detected, and what action will be taken based on the profile selected, and have the option to manually override the actions on each record (e.g. don't replace this specific one - just create a second record instead)

Polaris should re-evaluate hold eligibility when trapping preferences are set
When a hold request is placed, Polaris performs an eligibility evaluation only once—at the moment when the request is first placed. Polaris does not re-evaluate eligibility later. So if Polaris is configured to use hold trapping preferences that prefers "my patron" but some temporary circumstance prevents the assigned library's item from filling a hold for the library's patron, the hold must now be filled by a different library. This can be mitigated if staff notice the problem and delete and replace the hold, but this is a lot of extra overhead and in all likelihood the problem will go unnoticed.…

Allow staff to select sounds
Allowing staff to select different sounds when checking items in and out would be a great benefit. For example, when checking an item in and there is a hold, a different sound would help alert the staff, or when a patron's library card is scanned for checkout, a custom-selected warning sound would play. At busy times, it is easy to just go with flow because all the sounds are the same.

Clean any invalid characters on import of MARC records
Recently, Ingram sent us a MARC record that caused the record to both not show up in LEAP and not be available for API calls, so it didn't show up in our discovery layer either.
It ended up being that there was an invalid character ([ERR] FOR XML could not serialize the data for node 'data()' because it contains a character (0x0019) which is not allowed in XML.) in the MARC record causing this.
It would be helpful if Polaris would clean any incoming MARC record of characters it knows will cause issues.

Place multiple holds for one patron in a purchase order
It would be very helpful if Polaris had an option to be able to highlight multiple titles in a purchase order whether in the pending process or released process by being able to select multiple titles, right click, and PLACE multiple holds for one patron.
