  1. We have a Bookmobile service that is setup as it's own branch as well as a holds pickup location. With the limited capacity of this "pickup location", we are trying to restrict the material type loan limit block by location instead of by branch association.

    It would help to have some sort of Policy Table that does Material Type Loan Limit by Branch Pickup Location.

  2. It would be handy to be able to re-arrange records listed in the Workform Tracker. Sometimes I'm using a few records for some activity, and it can be confusing to keep track of them (especially since hold queues, hold records, items and bibs can have the same name, even if the icons used are different). The ability to change their order would allow some flexibility, such as allowing a user to place a hold record with the patron record they "belong" with.

  3. Drop late fees that have accrued once an item has been charged for replacement cost. Once an item is charged for replacement (lost or damaged) the late fees that have accrued should automatically drop instead of being added to the replacement fee.

  4. We use ChargeBalance, StatisticalClassID and BirthDate with 3rd party vendors to verify if our patrons are eligible to use licensed resources. Currently if I have a 3rd party vendor use PAPI to auth our patrons I would have to have them use PatronBasicDataGet to access this data which also returns personal information I do not want them to have access too. If ChargeBalance, StatisticalClassID and BirthDate were added to PatronValidate then the 3rg party vendors would not have unnecessary access to the full patron record. It may also be beneficial to include the UDF fields, Patron Name and email address…

  6. My staff mentioned that they would like it if we are renewing a patron account, we could have the option to renew all accounts it has an association with at the same time. Ex: If Jane Doe comes into renew, we can have the option with the click of a button to automatically renew John, Jim and Jill Doe's accounts as well. That way all members of a family can be updated at the same time more easily.

Instead of only allowing a pickup location to be set as closed in Vega Discover for all libraries/branches, it would be helpful to be able to show a specific pickup location by a specific library/branch only. For example, we are a cooperative location. We are not a library. But our staff place holds to be picked up at our location. However, patrons accidentally choose our pickup location. On our old system, we were able to set it up so a particular pickup location would only display by OPAC profile (login). Can this functionality be added?

  10. We would like to be able to limit who can change the Expiration Date and Address Check Date in the patron registration workform. Off the two, Address Check Date is most important as this is what we use to make sure patrons are updating their information regularly.

    These are configured in SA and are set system wide yet staff continue to change them.

    If I remove the 'Patron registration: Modify permission' for member library staff, they won't be able to change other fields.

  11. Add a Transmission Method of 'E-Mail' when creating an invoice. The current options are Paper, Fax, and Electronic. Many vendors now send invoices by E-Mail, not the US Postal Service. Invoices created by EDI transmissions are tagged as 'Electronic' as they should be, even if the vendor emails the invoice to us. What I would like to do is be able to identify an invoice that was emailed to us by a non-EDI vendor. I know it's technically a paper invoice once I print it; but it was received by email and should be identified as such.

  12. It seems unnecessary to force the Polaris Username field to begin with a letter. We would love for the Username field to have the ability to begin with any character.

  15. Our Access Services staff use the Reader Services tab and the Note field to list patron details to assist with readers advisory for elderly and homebound patrons.

    They use the Preferences options to some degree, but have noticed a character limit in the Note field, which requires them to use abbreviations to fit their details. They asked: "Is there a way for Polaris to increase the character limit of the Note field in the reader services tab? Is there a way to increase the viewable space as well?"

    Character limit may be around 250 or so, so they are abbreviating…

  16. When we are done using a routed periodical we have no way of checking in the issue for deletion. We don't assign a barcode to these issues so it will not allow a check in. We need ability to either delete a periodical in a Routed status or a quick way to un-route to then allow us to delete.

    Right now staff are forced into the item record and assign a barcode like "1", save record. Check in item. Then they can delete.

  17. The Jacksonville Public Library leverages the Polaris API to manage student records. Currently we have to take an extra step in the LEAP UI to set the communication preferences. We don't bill students or send their accounts to collections, so we have to do a bulk update of all the records with the UI after already touching every record with the API. This is cumbersome because there are over 100,000 student records that need to be updated. Most updates are smaller, but at the start of the school year we do a full refresh.

Working with the weeding-type record set workflow in an attempt to streamline, we have found the absence of an option to create a Bib record set from the available actions takes us a rhetorical two steps back from before (when we weeded via item record sets). Once the items have been withdrawn, we now have to go through each withdrawn item's record to their respective bibs, to uncheck "Display in PAC". It would be nice to add a "Display in PAC" uncheck in the Weeding template creation - however, it would need an added function to alert staff of bibs…

  19. On the Polaris self-check machines, the EXIT button at the end of the checkout is proving to be confusing to some patrons, as they think that they were bumped out of the transaction without completing it. Having a screen or message telling the patron that the transaction is complete would be helpful. Alternately, being able to customize this wording to say COMPLETE or FINISH instead would work.

    We would also like to be able to customize other wording such as "scan the book's barcode" to be more generic, as many library materials aren't books.

  20. Collection Agency Set Up: Can we add the ability to filter out patrons who already have a collection block when we send by item library? Due to financial reporting requirements, we have to send by item library but find many of our patrons end up with more than one collection block which we then need to remove.
