  1. Occasionally, we have an issue where an ILL has been checked out to a patron, checked back in, and needs to be put back on hold for a patron. But there is not an option to in the system. For example, in the linked images, the patron thought there was something wrong with the ILL, returned it, and we were going to reorder it.   2. It would be useful for administrators and reporting if item records were not physically deleted from the database. Maybe the introduction of an additional item record status that leaves the record in the database but excludes it from all aspects but reporting and administrator access?

    In our case we need to report periodically on item records being deleted. Once the record has been double deleted by a branch, I can no longer see it in Polaris, so I am relying upon spreadsheets captured at different points in time to capture the necessary data.   3. I'm guessing Leap being web-based makes this difficult to outright impossible but a warning sound effect for Leap's modal alerts would be nice.

    Something like:

    Assuming alerts in leap use Bootstrap's modal function calling the audio function after the shown.bs.modal trigger fires might work.

  4. I would like to have the ability to edit the "Last Used Purchase Order Number" field. I have a FY** prefix attached to each PO I create and would like to restart the numbering at 1 at the beginning of each fiscal year. Currently, our Site Manager has to reset it for us.

  6. Currently, you can only log in to Leap using your workstation's assigned branch.

    In the desktop client, you can use a workstation to log in to any branch.

    Choosing a workstation in Leap that doesn't match your computer's system name breaks RFID functionality, as well as breaks reporting by workstation, and is not a workable solution.

    This is impairing our ability to make a full move to Leap, and is one of the things that feels like a huge step backwards from the desktop staff client.

The new Web version of System Administration is great, but I was sad to learn when upgrading from Polaris 7.7 to 8.0 that the search filter box for Workstations and Staff Users is no longer "sticky". In 7.7, I could enter a search for one of our Branches, click on a workstation, edit it, close it, and return to my filtered-by-branch search. Now, when you leave a workform, you return back to the full workstation list. Same for staff members.   8. I am writing to request an enhancement for the Leap Acquisitions module. Currently, the system does not allow users to copy fund allocation numbers.

    When adjusting funds, the Encumbrance and Expenditure Fund Balance Limits often do not update automatically. This requires me to manually re-type the "Total Allocated" amount into six different limit fields. Manually entering the same 6-digit or 7-digit numbers multiple times is not only time-consuming but also creates a significant opportunity for manual entry errors.

With the new option to update patron codes based on age criteria (which we're excited about!), it would be useful to be able to send notices to patrons whose account type was auto-updated and/or to pull a report we could use for sending out messaging to the impacted patrons in our newsletter platform.

  10. Staff have expressed concern that their Polaris username appears in the upper-right corner of Leap, making their last name visible to customers when screens are shared. They would prefer the option to hide or anonymize the display (e.g., first name only). While the username also appears in the Polaris client, it is less prominent and therefore raises fewer concerns.

  12. When I adjust the language string with StringID ECTEXTBARCODE_PLACEHOLDER it is changed in two places, one of which is a surprise to me:
    * The wording in the input field for the patron card number and
    * The label for item information on the "Items Out" screen.
    The latter needs to have a separate StringID to make the former work in any meaningful way.

  13. Our patrons would like the ability to filter their Saved Title Lists by "available now" and "owning library", similar to search results in the catalog. This would enable them to walk into any library, look at their reading list, and see what is on the shelf now at a glance. Checking each title for availability and branch is tedious and time consuming.

  14. Product Area: LEAP – Hold Request Screen

    Description:
    On the Hold Request screen, the “Satisfied By” tab displays a list of item barcodes and branches that could satisfy a hold. Currently, this list cannot be sorted or filtered, unlike many other list views in LEAP.

    When a title has a large number of copies, the list becomes difficult to review and troubleshoot. Staff must manually scan through all rows to determine which items are Held, Out, or otherwise unavailable, and to identify where those items are located.

  15. When staff use the quick search box during busy times, the results come up empty. Sometimes they know they have the items and will wait to try again, but other times they assume no one owns the title and end up creating a duplicate record.

    When searching is affected by network performance, Leap should be handling that exception and displaying an error to the user. Blank results are a result and it is confusing people.

  16. We have paid non-resident fees which get used for unique patron codes which last 1 year. If a customer is renewing their registration early, we give them a year from their expiration date so that they are not losing any of the time that they previously paid for. Perhaps a checkbox in the renewal dialog box to indicate that this is what we want to do, but also an option to have this automatically toggled for certain patron codes and an option to suppress its use when an account is fully expired.

  17. Staff would love to be able the ability to use Shift + Click to select a range of hold requests in the Leap Patron record Holds view. This is an option in the Items out view (as well as in the Find tool and record sets) and it would be great it this could also be added into the patron Holds view.

  18. When scanning materials into a weeding-type record set, the system throws (broadly) two types of toasts - yellow and red. The yellow toasts very helpfully specify in what exact manner the given item does not match weeding criteria filters. However, the red toasts (excluding "Barcode is invalid" and the indication an item is already in a weeding record set) do not specify in what exact manner the given item falls outside the inclusion criteria.

It's possible the Description and Comments configured for MARC validation display somewhere else already, but it would be nice if there were a couple of buttons to display that data in the MARC tooltips. The Description would be helpful for any tags that aren't used regularly or for staff with limited familiarity with MARC formats while the Comments could be useful in communicating local cataloging policies. Bonus points if we could allow staff with the appropriate permissions to edit the Description and Comments directly in the tooltip.   20. The new(ish) bulk waive options in Leap are extremely useful, but library administrators often want to waive charges of a certain amount - usually "waive all charges of less than X dollars." The current interface, however, doesn't allow the user to specify an amount for the charge to be waived. This would be very useful and would avoid the need for creating a SQL statement to identify such charges.
