  1. There can be accounts that are expired and are still able to check out ebooks. Expired accounts are no longer valid and should be blocking at least in the integration function between the ebook vendor and Polaris.
    If this isn't possible, can the checkout action trigger an email notice to the customer to have their library account renewed or reviewed.
    This should happen each day an integrated eContent transaction occurs.
    Keeping the account up to date will prevent the account from being closed or purged.

  2. It would be nice if we could separate the "holds ready for pick up" texts from the "renew" texts and be able to choose if you want one or the other or both. Customers would love to get a text for when their holds come in, but for some, the renewal texts are too much, and the pick up texts get lost in the volume. Then also, have the option to get renewals and/or pick up notices in their email.

  3. The API currently doesn't have a way to add a fee to a patron account. The use case where we'd want this is that we use a third party for online self-registration. They offer t he ability to differentiate between resident and non-resident accounts, but to use the non-resident option, we'd need to have a fee added when the account was created.

  4. We had a staff member let us know that they had a credit on their personal account and they found the process of dealing with the credit to be a little frustrating. The credit did not automatically apply to their other fees and there was no way for them (as a patron) to tell the system to apply the credits. The only option was for the patron to get in touch with staff to have this taken care of. This would give the patrons more flexibility for managing their account.

  7. If you are adjusting the column settings for Leap, the list of available options is not in alphabetical order. This makes it easier to overlook what options might be available to select.

  8. Currently, the only way to view pending holds for pickup at other libraries in Request Manager is in the Polaris Client. We would like this brought over to Leap. This idea would make the Request Manager in Leap and the client equal in terms of capabilities.

  9. We have found it hard to work with the Current and Recent workfrom menu when working with lots of Patron Records, or more commonly, Duplicate Patron Records.

    Names work, but when names are similar or the same it can be hard to figure out which records are which.
    Sometimes staff are working with Barcodes as a reference vs. patron names.

    It would be nice to have a subtext under the Patrons name in the Current and Recent workform list that shows the last 4 digits or the full barcode underneath the patron name.

  10. A recent change to PAPI allows for the retrieval of, and adding to, different types of records sets, including Patrons, Bibs, and Items. Adding to Patron and Bib records sets is straight forward because there are existing endpoints within PAPI that return BibRecordID and PatronRecordID numbers. This isn't the case with Item record sets because there a currently no endpoints that provide an item's RecordID. This enhancement would add the ItemRecordID to each row in the BibHoldingsGet response.

  11. The Language field was added to Polaris in 7.4 (I believe). The only way to update the Language field is to manually update each item record manually. As you can imagine, that is very time-consuming. It would be ideal if our Collection Management department could pull the appropriate item records into a record set and then do a batch update of the Language field.

  12. When entering new accounts in to LEAP, we enter the patron zip code and the city is automatically filled out. At Phoenix libraries, if the city is not Phoenix, we have to remember to change the patron code to Maricopa and the expiration date to only one year. Could these 2 fields also be automatically filled out by the zip code information. It would save a lot of jumping from the top of the registration form to the bottom and back...and could save mistakes when we have a LOT of outreach library card forms to enter.

Currently, there's no option in the PACREG application to allow patrons to choose to receive email notifications in plain text - but that option does exist in the new patron application on the staff side. Libraries using the PAC registration feature would like to have that included in the PACREG form.

  15. Please expand the search functionality to include searching and pulling results for both the 024#a MARC tag, as well as 020#a

    Functionally this will improve searches as results will include hits on an ISBN whether it's in 020 or 024

  16. Please add a drop-down box for the profile section of registration. There is a drop-down box for the address section labeled term but there is not one for the profile section. It makes it easier for staff to choose the correct date. In the Polaris toolbar, there is a drop-down box for patron info and address.

  17. It would be helpful to have an indicator for if a patron has circulation blocks in the response of the AuthenticatePatron API endpoint. This would allow vendors and custom integrations to determine if a patron should be allowed access to a system based on if they are allowed to checkout items without having to do an additional API call.

  19. Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.

    With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

    It would be a great time saver if there was an option for an automated new items carousel. We raised the issue with our account manager who spoke to…

  20. Our staff searches for patrons by date of birth to check for duplicate accounts. It would be nice to enter only one date instead of two.
