  1. We would like to be able to save a scanned copy of a patron registration card to our patron's record. Louisiana is passing a law on content restrictions that requires us to store this information as well as any signed waivers. It would be convenient to be able to scan and save this information directly to a patron's account rather than dump all the saves into a cloud storage platform.

  2. The API currently doesn't have a way to add a fee to a patron account. The use case where we'd want this is that we use a third party for online self-registration. They offer t he ability to differentiate between resident and non-resident accounts, but to use the non-resident option, we'd need to have a fee added when the account was created.

  3. I propose that if the patron limitation is zero for a material type check out then the item will not be trapped for the patron. They will stay on the top of the holds list until an item that does not have a material type of zero for that patron type is checked in and trapped. Thus making the material type check out limit of zero a true material type block.

  4. We use only two call number schemes in item records, either “Dewey Decimal” or “Other”. I wonder if it is possible to hide the rest of the schemes from the dropdown menu in item records. This will reduce the chances of accidental selection of an incorrect scheme.

When we create a weeding record set, before sending it to the approval dashboard for review, we'd like to have a way to mark items in the set as "not found" or some other indication that the item is not on the shelf. Right now we can update items individually to another status (missing for example) or remove them from the record set. We would like the ability streamline this and mark the item directly in the weeding record set.

  6. It would be wonderful to be able to customize keyboard shortcuts per user.

    I don't typically use 90% of Polaris features, and the other 10% I use very frequently, and most of those features don't have any hotkeys associated with them.

  7. A way to provide additional toasts in Leap when receiving items would be useful for particular alerts about items. This would be especially useful for processing notes when items are received.

  8. In our previous ILS, we had the ability for renewals to have a different renewal length compared to check out length. For example- books checked out for 28 days but renewals were 14 days.

  11. Please expand the search functionality to include searching and pulling results for both the 024#a MARC tag, as well as 020#a

    Functionally this will improve searches as results will include hits on an ISBN whether it's in 020 or 024

  12. Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.

    With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

    It would be a great time saver if there was an option for an automated new items carousel. We raised the issue with our account manager who spoke to…

  14. There should be an option to block patrons from placing holds on items if there is only one owning library and the circulation status of the item is listed as missing or in storage. While in storage items should be visible to patrons in the OPAC since sometimes that item can be taken out of storage if a patron wants it, they shouldn't be able to place a hold if there's only one owning library and their only copy is listed as in storage. Like withdrawn items, missing items simply shouldn't show up at all for patrons as an option.

  15. If there is an issue with a scheduled Simply Reports job, it must be rerun manually. This includes problems with the SQL Job Polaris scheduling executive. For example, if one report takes longer than 30 minutes to run, the scheduling executive won't allow another instance of that SQL job to start, causing reports to be missed. Additionally, reports can be missed if the server is offline for a variety of reasons including during upgrades. Simply Reports should check the last run date for the report and reschedule it if the elapsed time is greater than the scheduled interval.

  16. When using the find tool basic search, we can use filters to narrow down criteria. After applying the criteria, if we select power search, the power search string is automatically created based on the filters. We can then modify the power search as desired.

    It would be very helpful if this could work in opposite way: that if we create a power search, but are wanting to then see the visual representation in the basic search filters, that we could move from power search to basic search with the criteria filled in in the filters.

  17. Indian Trails Library has several members who own 2 properties in 2 different CCS Library areas. Several times now these member's accounts were merged due to other library staff in other libraries not looking at the member's notes. This upsets the members and is more work for library staff to recreate the other account.

  18. We would like the ability to modify the description of the Item Record History Actions when it comes to renewals. Currently, when a renewal happens in the app, it lists it as "Renewal - third party software" which confused our library staff. We were told that is the wording for anything renewed via the Polaris API, but since (for now) the only thing we have renewing that way is the app, we'd like to change the wording to say "Renewal - Mobile App" so it's clearer for staff.   20. When the theme's scss file is edited and compiled, the version parameter on the stylesheet link in the HTML does not update. This means that browsers don't know to pull the updated css from the server if they have it cached, so the css updates won't apply for all users immediately due to browser caching. Here's an example of the line in the HTML with the version parameter:

    <link type="text/css" rel=""https://yourlibrary.org/polaris/custom/themes/theme1/site.css?ver=7.1.14157.0">

    It looks like the version parameter is based on the Polaris version, so I'm guessing it's automatically updated whenever Polaris is upgraded, but that doesn't help for theme adjustments…
