  1. I love the New Holds function in Leap. It makes it easy to place lots of holds for a customer in a single session when you know exact info and they are fine getting it later. With this feature though, you have no way to easily see WHERE copies of a title are or what their status is or details about WHAT you are placing a hold on. It would be great if there was a way to link to or preview bib info and item details (such as circ status and location) so you know if you even need…

  2. It would be helpful to have a "view password" option in the login for library patrons/guests. I have gotten feedback from patrons who are visually impaired that having this feature would make logging in to their library account much easier, allowing them to identify typing errors before submitting their login information. The view password feature seems to be such a standard across wide array of platforms, pages, and applications. Why wouldn't a library be able to offer it?

  3. One impediment for our processing staff in moving to Leap is the lack of the ability to quickly copy a line item in Leap (here's the process in the client: https://documentation.iii.com/polaris/7.6/#PolarisStaffHelp/Acquisitions/PAorder/Copy_a_purchase_order_line_item.htm)

    The same process in Leap involves several more steps:
    1.Go back to the PO
    2. click new line item
    3.fill out line item details
    4. click on segments
    5. click new segment
    6. fill out Collection Code and Fund

    A quicker way to get through a PO would be if we could add the same segment to all of the line items at once, e.g click the check…

  4. You can set the title bar color and the login message for Leap. However, it would also be nice to have the option to set the favicon so when you have a test, development, and production server open, you could use a favicon to more quickly distinguish between them in your open tabs.

  5. On the information page for an ILL, there should be the ability to see what staff have interacted with the ILL or if a patron has made a change. We had an ILL get cancelled before it arrived to our library, but we can't tell if it was a staff initiation or a patron one. In the record for a regular item, I can see who has done what with a hold. This would be useful for follow up.

  7. The Leap quick search could do a better job of searching Hispanic names. Often, patrons consider their first two names as given names, not as first and middle, which makes it difficult to search for them when they come in without their cards. For example, if I search for Luis Miguel Paco Sanchez using all four names, LEAP finds the patron. If I search for Luis Paco Sanchez or Luis + either last name individually, LEAP will not find the patron. If I search for Miguel Paco Sanchez, LEAP finds the patron. We would like, when items with a Withdrawn status are returned by patrons in a good enough condition to still circulate, for the replacement fees associated with the item to auto-waive in the same way that items with a Lost status can auto-waive. This would prevent confusion at the circulation desk and streamline the check-in process.

  9. We have found it hard to work with the Current and Recent workfrom menu when working with lots of Patron Records, or more commonly, Duplicate Patron Records.

    Names work, but when names are similar or the same it can be hard to figure out which records are which.
    Sometimes staff are working with Barcodes as a reference vs. patron names.

    It would be nice to have a subtext under the Patrons name in the Current and Recent workform list that shows the last 4 digits or the full barcode underneath the patron name.

  10. When you refresh the Offline installation in Leap it would be good to present the URL for Offline mode bookmarking again. The suggestion would be to show it in the pop-up toast message once the offline data is refreshed.

    There currently is not an easy way for staff to get to the Offline link again without deleting the offline files and setting it up again.

  12. In Polaris, staff can group holds on different formats together for patrons if, for example, they don't care whether they get the DVD or Blu-ray, or the regular print or large print. This would be great patron service if they could do that themselves.

  13. Currently, the fund hierarchy report organizes at the Organization level by Org ID. This means that as new organization levels are added they drop to the bottom of the list, and I'm often looking at this from an alphabetical perspective. It would be helpful to have the option to organize the output alphabetically instead.

  14. Currently, incoming requests are assigned from the INN-Reach central server to a specific copy in the catalog. If for some reason that item cannot be found or used, staff must undertake a lengthy multi-step process to transfer the item-level hold to another copy.

    Keeping the hold at the bib level and letting Polaris assign it to an item will reduce the time it takes to transfer INN-Reach holds between copies will save a lot of staff time in communicating and processing, and further will reduce delays in getting the request fulfilled and sent out.

  15. I would like to be able to adjust auto-renewals at a Patron level in addition to the item level. This would help some of our patron's who may have difficulty understanding how renewals work. This may seem silly, but we have had some cognitively impaired patrons become severely confused and upset when they think they are "wasting renewal's". Being able to adjust these settings individually at the patron record portion would be extremely helpful. Excluding them from the auto-renewal notice is a band-aid, but this causes other confusing issues with the patrons as a result.

  16. When you are in the Request Manager on Leap, it is possible to select multiple titles and then cancel them all at once - there is no additional confirmation.

    This bulk action can be hard to undo.

    It would be helpful to have a warning dialog box pop-up when staff are attempting this bulk action. Also labelling the "proceed" button as "Cancel Holds" would be helpful as an extra step to ensure that staff are taking the proper action.

  18. Currently, when the If patron is blocked: Block in PAC/SIP option under the Staff Client and PAC tab of the Hold Options parameter is enabled, patrons are only blocked from placing a request if they exceed the hold limits for their Patron Code.

    We would like for this blocking to also include the 2nd level fine amount, similar to how their request would be blocked in the staff client/Leap when the Block in Staff Client option is enabled.

  19. Calls to a patron to notify them of books on hold can't be added to Polaris.

    It would be especially helpful if we could manually add notifications (even if we manually email a patron) and the appropriate reason/time into the notifications history. I've seen a "dated notes" suggestion here but don't feel these are the same.

  20. Create step-by-step instructions and documentation for Polaris Inventory Manager; how to install it, set things up, using record sets, etc. There really is nothing available that we can share with our libraries; there is a webinar on inventory, but it does not really discuss install and set-up.
    The same documentation for inventory via check-in would also be greatly appreciated.
