  2. For TV series that have multiple volumes, or other volumed series associated with the same Bib record, I would like it when it prompts me about which volume I would like to place a hold on, to also give me the option to place a hold on all volumes.

  3. In the Item tab of the popup window for a patron's overdue charge properties, the "Check Out date" indicates the item's last renewal date, rather than its actual check out date. A more helpful date to see would be the original check out date; this would also better suit the title for this line.

  4. When items are checked out through SIP2, Polaris includes the "You just saved __ by using the library" text in the response. However, this information is not available when using the ItemCheckout method through PAPI.

As we start moving vendors away from SIP2 and towards PAPI, we'd like to replicate the functionality of SIP2.

    Thanks

  5. Across our consortium, we have some library staff who exclusively use Leap, some who exclusively use the Remote Client, and some who use both depending on the task.

Currently, there is only one system-level setting responsible for the Visual Alert Configuration (top banner color) in Leap & the Remote Client. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work well given that Leap has a light font color and the Client has a dark font color across the top, so to achieve an ideal level of contrast for both versions simultaneously is impossible.

To improve accessibility for all users, regardless of the version of Polaris…

  6. Currently the API only performs basic duplicate detection (name, birthdate, barcode, username, and optionally the name on ID) when a patron record is created using the PatronRegistrationCreate call. It does not apply other optional settings - email, phone 1, or the UDFs - these only get applied directly in Polaris or the PAC. This idea is for including these optional settings in the API logic.

  7. In the Polaris client (we're on 7.6) we would love to be able to un-delete "half-deleted" bib records (any in "Delete" status).

We receive a monthly report of "Bibs without Item Records" for final weeding and we're finding many "half-deleted" bibs where staff have deleted the final copy on a record and clicked "delete" in the pop-up instead of "suppress from PAC".

We would like to be able to bulk change these Delete-status records back to Final so we can extra needed marc data (OCLC #s, primarily) and then properly double-delete them.

  8. Inventory Check-in via Leap is recorded as Check-ins for Item Statistic reports in SimplyReports. A way to filter inventory check-ins from statistical reports would be nice.

  9. MARC records for non-Roman language materials come to us from OCLC with the vernacular script in the 880 fields. Since that doesn't display in Polaris/Leap like we want it to, we have been using MARC edit to swap the 880 fields with the transliterations contained in the regular MARC fields. We are hoping there can be a better way, and Polaris can simply let us choose to use the 880 fields for display when they are present OR display the 880 information alongside the transliteration.

There are several places where the transliteration appears when we'd like the vernacular script to…

  10. We often use the "Holds" reports of Simple Reports to watch demand on titles - especially the Hold Count report. It would be very helpful if UPC could be one of the output columns, so that we could copy it for media, which doesn't always have an ISBN in the vendor MARC.
Right now we have to output the bib record id, copy it and search in Polaris, then copy the UPC from there.

  11. The Damaged feature in Polaris 7.5 was implemented without a permission to enable libraries to turn it off if they prefer their existing procedure. Because we can't turn it off and we have several hundred staff members, many new, all of whom do not have all our procedures memorized, some of the staff now use the Damage feature. This means that we now need a report to catch these transactions and extra staff time to undo them. To try to mitigate, we changed the string "Damaged" to "Do not use". It would be much preferred if a permission would allow…

  12. I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.

This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.

  14. Sometimes a single collection assignment for an item isn't enough. When you want to add an item to a collection only to find that it already belongs to another collection, it would be nice to be able to assign it to your collection as well. The item may belong to an awards collection like Newbery but also to a collection of picture books.

  15. Our librarians make regular use the staff client's bibliographic option to sort by "most popular" when searching by author, particularly when supporting the needs of children and families. Please provide sort by options in Leap to match those available in the staff client.

  16. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

We would like parents to be able to see what is checked out to their children's account. An adult is already required for any cards registered to minors, so it makes sense for a…

  17. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

  18. One way that our ability to transition to fully utilize LEAP for acquisitions is limited is the inability to cancel a segment of a Purchase Order Line Item. There are times when vendors only send us a partial fulfillment due to backorder cancellations or other issues. At this time, we have to use the client for this issue.

  19. SIP should handle foreign characters (diacritics) correctly. When a patron's name or an item's title has a diacritic then it throws an error. For some vendors, it breaks the application and prevents customers from logging in and/or accessing their checked out or held items.

  20. It would be helpful to have a "view password" option in the login for library patrons/guests. I have gotten feedback from patrons who are visually impaired that having this feature would make logging in to their library account much easier, allowing them to identify typing errors before submitting their login information. The view password feature seems to be such a standard across wide array of platforms, pages, and applications. Why wouldn't a library be able to offer it?
