  1. There is currently only one setting that determines how long an item needs to be overdue before it reaches billed status and charges the patron for the cost of the item.

    We would like to have different types of material reach billed status at shorter intervals. For example, we would like for a device that checks out for 4 hours to be billed on the patron record after 1 day, rather than the 63 day interval that we use for standard material. Similarly, we would like our hotspots to become billed after they have been overdue for 3 days.

  2. Our librarians make regular use the staff client's bibliographic option to sort by "most popular" when searching by author, particularly when supporting the needs of children and families. Please provide sort by options in Leap to match those available in the staff client.

  3. Being able to set a max limit on the number of holds by material type (or Collection) would be beneficial for items that are perpetually popular but additional copies cannot be purchased.
    I.e. Museum passes - 500 bib level holds limit
    this would also help to ensure hold request does not lapse due to long wait times

  4. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

    Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

  5. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

Currently in Leap (we're on 7.8), in order to take full advantage of an item template, you have to click on Actions--Create Item (within the bib record), then add your barcode & select the template you want to use, and then click Save. If you don't click on Save, the template only populates some of the template information. It doesn't change any of the call number fields or the number of renewals, even when the option to use template values is checked.

  7. We would like to enhance /PolarisAdmin (Web Admin) so that leading and trailing spaces are automatically trimmed from the Username and External ID fields upon entry.

    Problem Statement
    Currently, if administrators accidentally enter a username or external ID with a leading or trailing space, it is saved as entered. This creates login and authentication issues for end users, since the system considers the space a part of the credential. This can be difficult to troubleshoot and frustrating for both administrators and end users.

    This is especially likely to happen when copying/pasting from certain user management platforms.

  9. This proposal outlines an extension to the Patron Validation API to include an optional serviceName parameter. When provided, this value will be recorded in the Integrated Library System (ILS) transaction log, allowing us to track which service initiates each patron validation request.

    Currently, the ILS transaction log records patron validations without capturing which service initiated the request. This lack of context makes it difficult to analyze traffic from third-party services (e.g., OverDrive, Hoopla) or internal applications, troubleshoot validation spikes, and make informed decisions about service contracts and resource allocation.

  10. My library is on Leap 7.6 and we have a problem when our staff is setting up new registrations. The “Save” button is right next to the “Cancel” button and when you accidently hit cancel there is no “Are you sure” pop up or something similar. We would love for this to be fixed! We've had to redo way to many patron accounts!

  11. I would like to be able to edit the transaction notes field in a patron account summary. We recently had an instance come up where someone forgot to add information to an item that a patron was being charged for. It would be nice to be able to go in and edit it after the fact as opposed to having to delete the charge and start over.

  12. When doing clean up work we run into instances where we are not able to delete something like shelf locations because it is assigned to records that are in a deleted state. While we know we can just delete the records 1 more time, some of these records are tied to other things we track and would prefer to keep them in the system.

    Currently we bulk change them at the server level but would like a way to be able to do this within the ILS.

  13. Cataloging staff use staff cards to request items in for call number changes or various projects. It would be helpful for them to be able to add those items into a Record Set for bulk changes directly from the patron record Hold list, in lieu of individually from the item records.

  14. In PolarisAdmin, it would be great to have a few additional filters other than the text box filter.

    • Show non-default (would show any setting that wasn't at its default value)
    • Show system/library/branch level (one for each, to show settings that were set at specific levels within Polaris SA)

    This would allow for quick scans for changed settings that might be causing issues or problems. Especially in places where there are a wide range of settings that are largely kept at their default values (I'm looking at you Self-Check Unit Parameters).

  16. Adding the patron modification date and the name of the last modifier of a patron record would allow staff to narrow down when records were modified and by whom. The ability to track these changes would be particularly useful to Outreach staff who may need the statistical information about patron records they modified while working off site. Ideally, this addition should be added to the report outputs in SimplyReports and added to Leap as well so that public service staff can easily access this information.   17. Currently there is more functionality in the client than in Leap for offline services. I would like Leap to also be able to create customer accounts and process check-ins like the client. But it would also be nice for the check in function, once transactions have been uploaded, to have the option for all items to go to a status of "IN" and be assigned to the branch they were checked in at.

  18. In the Polaris client (we're on 7.6) we would love to be able to un-delete "half-deleted" bib records (any in "Delete" status).

    We receive a monthly report of "Bibs without Item Records" for final weeding and we're finding many "half-deleted" bibs where staff have deleted the final copy on a record and clicked "delete" in the pop-up instead of "suppress from PAC".

    We would like to be able to bulk change these Delete-status records back to Final so we can extra needed marc data (OCLC #s, primarily) and then properly double-delete them.

  19. MARC records for non-Roman language materials come to us from OCLC with the vernacular script in the 880 fields. Since that doesn't display in Polaris/Leap like we want it to, we have been using MARC edit to swap the 880 fields with the transliterations contained in the regular MARC fields. We are hoping there can be a better way, and Polaris can simply let us choose to use the 880 fields for display when they are present OR display the 880 information alongside the transliteration.

  20. It would be helpful if we could move rows up and down in the item statistical class code policy table. We have librarians transferring items between branches that have statistical class codes in them. The codes will automatically change to a different code when assigned to the new branch because the position of the code in the policy table does not align. The cataloger must remember to update that field to the correct code.

    This would be beneficial to our librarians, simplify their workflow, and prevent errors.
