  1. Since record sets have 2-level deletion, like bibs, items, and authorities, the RecordSets table should have a RecordStatusDate column.

    When using the 2-level deletion to manage record clean-up, it is usual to purge records that have been deleted for a certain amount of time, but without the deletion date it is harder to determine. Because the modification date of deleted record sets is still updated by some actions taken on the records in the set (e.g. merging over a record), the only way to determine the deletion is by querying the transactions database.

  2. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

    Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

  3. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

  4. Adding the ability to add / update the Polaris username field as an alternative barcode for students/patrons would be hugely beneficial in the import process. This would allow us to have a student ID as a barcode and a former library barcode for patrons to use at the expresscheck.

  5. I had a coworker ask why she couldn't export her record set into excel to allow for more sortability. I was surprised she couldn't and began looking at documentation and noticed that there is that ability, but you have to change the owner of the record set to the branch or system level, which feels like an unnecessary step. I should be able to export a record set I am working on to Excel with my regular ownership without having the (slim) possibility of a coworker accidentally accessing and messing up anything.

  7. Most of our libraries loan the library of things and museum passes to their own patrons. However, since all members use Adult Resident patron code for their resident patrons, it is not possible to limit materials to their own patrons. Could a checkout setting be added to the item records, similar to the hold setting "patrons from this library and branches" and "x days past first available".

  8. A consistent piece of feedback we get from front-line staff is that patrons struggle to find where to turn on Reading History and that they themselves often forget where it is located. Having it buried within "My Record"-->"Contact Information and Preferences" and having to scroll down to it apparently is not effective. Having the "Reading History" tab always visible under the patron's name on the left-hand menu would be more effective, instead of having it only appear once Reading History has already been turned on.

  9. Currently there is more functionality in the client than in Leap for offline services. I would like Leap to also be able to create customer accounts and process check-ins like the client. But it would also be nice for the check in function, once transactions have been uploaded, to have the option for all items to go to a status of "IN" and be assigned to the branch they were checked in at.

  10. When deduplicating hold requests, Polaris looks at title, author, and material type. Therefore, it doesn't allow our customers to place holds on the same video game title for different consoles.

    Please also consider UPC during the hold request duplicate detection process.

  12. When checking-in an issue of a Professional serial, Leap will give a notification that a route list exists for that title. Leap will not link the new issue to the route list or print the list. Currently, my library has to use staff client when checking in Professional serials. It would be very helpful if this feature would be added to Leap.

  14. Today I helped a customer who had three Lost (and billed) items on her account. The items were all designated as Deleted as well. She claimed that she had returned two of the three items through our Automated Materials Handler (AMH) some time ago. The items were set to lost in 2022. The third item she had and returned today. This item having been deleted shows up in Leap as a "no matching record" (NMR) item.   15. We currently have the ability to set the default status for the 3 request manager views but it would be great to be able to set a default VIEW for request manager to open in as well. At our library, Request Manager is intensively used for receiving incoming INN-Reach requests (ILL view) and it would save time if we could make that the default view.

  18. In our Retain/Delete table we remove certain subject headings with specific indicators. When we save a Bib record, the Remote Authority Control checks EVERY heading then removes the tags marked for deletion and checks the headings again.

    It'd be more efficient, time-wise, if Polaris deleted the tags first, then perform the Remote Authority Control.

  19. We are part of a state-wide consortium and the holds count for titles in PowerPAC displays total number of holds for the consortium, making it look like a very long wait for a popular title. If we have purchased Advantage copies of this title, we would like the Advantage holds to display to patrons instead of consortium-wide holds.

  20. We are upgrading to 7.4 soon and noticed that one of the new features (from 7.3) was the ability to cancel held holds. These seem to display really nicely in Leap (especially with the holds to action tab), but the display in the Polaris client could be improved. Currently, it seems like these cancelled holds just get added to the cancelled view which does not give any indication that the item was on the hold shelf and needs to be pulled/checked in.
