  1. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

  2. I would like to be able to edit the transaction notes field in a patron account summary. We recently had an instance come up where someone forgot to add information to an item that a patron was being charged for. It would be nice to be able to go in and edit it after the fact as opposed to having to delete the charge and start over.

  3. You should be able to search in the Find Tool by record modification date. So far I'm seeing this missing from Record Sets, Patron Accounts, etc.. This would make it easier to Find Records without having to resort to using SQL which makes it much more accessible to all staff.

  4. Adding the ability to add / update the Polaris username field as an alternative barcode for students/patrons would be hugely beneficial in the import process. This would allow us to have a student ID as a barcode and a former library barcode for patrons to use at the expresscheck.

  5. If Simply Reports had a Hold History report, where you could enter a Bibliographic Record ID and then see the history of hold requests created for that bibliographic record -- it would be most helpful when trying to see why an item wasn't automatically renewed, or was blocked from renewing.

  6. It would be helpful if we could search using the Find Tool for items with a Last Activity Date. Last circulated is a search option, and Last activity is a column option to display, but I have yet found a way to use it in my search criteria.

  7. Most of our libraries loan the library of things and museum passes to their own patrons. However, since all members use Adult Resident patron code for their resident patrons, it is not possible to limit materials to their own patrons. Could a checkout setting be added to the item records, similar to the hold setting "patrons from this library and branches" and "x days past first available".

  8. A consistent piece of feedback we get from front-line staff is that patrons struggle to find where to turn on Reading History and that they themselves often forget where it is located. Having it buried within "My Record"-->"Contact Information and Preferences" and having to scroll down to it apparently is not effective. Having the "Reading History" tab always visible under the patron's name on the left-hand menu would be more effective, instead of having it only appear once Reading History has already been turned on.

  9. Adding the patron modification date and the name of the last modifier of a patron record would allow staff to narrow down when records were modified and by whom. The ability to track these changes would be particularly useful to Outreach staff who may need the statistical information about patron records they modified while working off site. Ideally, this addition should be added to the report outputs in SimplyReports and added to Leap as well so that public service staff can easily access this information. Currently in Leap when checking out an item - if that item has an item specific hold on it for a patron - it does not provide a pop up or warning if you try to check out that item to another patron. In Polaris it would warn you that there was an existing hold on that copy. This was a very useful notice for circulation staff.

  11. In the Polaris client (we're on 7.6) we would love to be able to un-delete "half-deleted" bib records (any in "Delete" status).

    We receive a monthly report of "Bibs without Item Records" for final weeding and we're finding many "half-deleted" bibs where staff have deleted the final copy on a record and clicked "delete" in the pop-up instead of "suppress from PAC".

    We would like to be able to bulk change these Delete-status records back to Final so we can extra needed marc data (OCLC #s, primarily) and then properly double-delete them.

  12. When deduplicating hold requests, Polaris looks at title, author, and material type. Therefore, it doesn't allow our customers to place holds on the same video game title for different consoles.

    Please also consider UPC during the hold request duplicate detection process.

  14. When checking-in an issue of a Professional serial, Leap will give a notification that a route list exists for that title. Leap will not link the new issue to the route list or print the list. Currently, my library has to use staff client when checking in Professional serials. It would be very helpful if this feature would be added to Leap.

  16. Today I helped a customer who had three Lost (and billed) items on her account. The items were all designated as Deleted as well. She claimed that she had returned two of the three items through our Automated Materials Handler (AMH) some time ago. The items were set to lost in 2022. The third item she had and returned today. This item having been deleted shows up in Leap as a "no matching record" (NMR) item.   17. We currently have the ability to set the default status for the 3 request manager views but it would be great to be able to set a default VIEW for request manager to open in as well. At our library, Request Manager is intensively used for receiving incoming INN-Reach requests (ILL view) and it would save time if we could make that the default view.

  18. We would like to be able to have more options for configuring the Hold Pickup Slip. Our current hold pickup slip is printed using an older piece of Bibliotheca RFID software that is no longer supported. The software allows us to configure the position, orientation and font size of each element on the hold slip. We are also able to select the number of characters to print for each of those elements, for example, first 3 characters of the last name, first character of the first name, etc.

  20. In our Retain/Delete table we remove certain subject headings with specific indicators. When we save a Bib record, the Remote Authority Control checks EVERY heading then removes the tags marked for deletion and checks the headings again.

    It'd be more efficient, time-wise, if Polaris deleted the tags first, then perform the Remote Authority Control.
