  1. Occasionally, we have an issue where an ILL has been checked out to a patron, checked back in, and needs to be put back on hold for a patron. But there is not an option to in the system. For example, in the linked images, the patron thought there was something wrong with the ILL, returned it, and we were going to reorder it.   2. In the Item tab of the popup window for a patron's overdue charge properties, the "Check Out date" indicates the item's last renewal date, rather than its actual check out date. A more helpful date to see would be the original check out date; this would also better suit the title for this line.

  4. More and more libraries circulate mobile wifi hotspots to the public. Polaris and Polaris Leap do not currently integrate with Kajeet, which is one of the more popular wifi hotspot providers for schools and libraries. It would be beneficial to libraries using the Polaris ILS to be able to streamline the circulation process such that checking in/out a hotspot in Polaris also activated/deactivated the hotspot itself.

  5. Many of our patrons are on autopilot when checking out their materials at our expresschecks. There are times patrons while scanning, accidentally scan the wrong barcode (isbn barcode) rather than our libraries' created barcodes for checkout. Staff in our library system have requested there be a way to differentiate barcode scanning sounds of a normal checkout beep to some sort of indicator/sound letting the patron know something is wrong in the checkout process.

  6. On the Polaris self-check machines, the EXIT button at the end of the checkout is proving to be confusing to some patrons, as they think that they were bumped out of the transaction without completing it. Having a screen or message telling the patron that the transaction is complete would be helpful. Alternately, being able to customize this wording to say COMPLETE or FINISH instead would work.

    We would also like to be able to customize other wording such as "scan the book's barcode" to be more generic, as many library materials aren't books.

  7. We already have the option in 7.6 to export print, phone, and TXT notices via the native Polaris admin settings. The only format that cannot be exported is email.

    It would make notices integrations to third-party and other hosted solutions more accessible and easier to maintain if the same functionality were supported for all notification methods.

  8. Currently, it seems that we can opt to have all e-mail notices sent to the primary e-mail on an account, or all e-mail notices sent to both the primary and alternative e-mails on the account. We would like to be able to choose at the notice level whether a notice is sent to the primary e-mail or to both. This would allow us to, for example, send billing notices to both e-mails, but receipts and renewal notices only to the primary e-mail.

  9. Collection Agency Set Up: Can we add the ability to filter out patrons who already have a collection block when we send by item library? Due to financial reporting requirements, we have to send by item library but find many of our patrons end up with more than one collection block which we then need to remove.

Reviewing the process of integrating Cirriusimpact at our library, we've encountered a notable issue: patrons opting out of text messaging and staff needing to adjust their notifications accordingly. Currently, we're relying on CGS to send daily email alerts when someone opts out, but it would be more convenient to add a non-blocking note to the Polaris account visible to all staff. This would ensure everyone is aware of a patron's preference change and simplify the search for patrons with similar notification settings.

  11. I would like to see a history of all holds on a bib record kept with the date of activation, not just those that were cancelled. I use this information to adjust how many copies of popular authors to pre-buy by looking at how many holds were placed on an author's previous released title(s) prior to release date.

  12. We have a Bookmobile service that is setup as it's own branch as well as a holds pickup location. With the limited capacity of this "pickup location", we are trying to restrict the material type loan limit block by location instead of by branch association.

    It would help to have some sort of Policy Table that does Material Type Loan Limit by Branch Pickup Location.

  13. I would like to be able to limit new items to be available only to a specific branch (Library at Home/ Outreach for example) but only for a specific time frame. We have this functionality for a library level, but not branch.

In System>Parameters>Notification>Notification Options>Overdue & Bill, I would like to see the "Include Claimed Items" broken out into individual notification options for Claims Returned, Claims Never Had, and Missing Part. As of now, if this option is selected, notices will go out for all or nothing regarding these claims. I would like to only send notices for Missing Part items and not the other two. My reasoning is I do not want to continue to send notices for items I consider "resolved" when a patron says they returned something or that they never had it. However, I do want to continue…

  15. One of our member libraries have displayed interest in having the option to include the ability to attach multiple patron barcodes onto one patron record. The want for this is due to the interest of adding collectible library cards to their location. They also spoke to another library uses the Sierra ILS. It was stated that their ILS has that functionality already.

  17. When you refresh the Offline installation in Leap it would be good to present the URL for Offline mode bookmarking again. The suggestion would be to show it in the pop-up toast message once the offline data is refreshed.

    There currently is not an easy way for staff to get to the Offline link again without deleting the offline files and setting it up again.

  20. The Jacksonville Public Library leverages the Polaris API to manage student records. Currently we have to take an extra step in the LEAP UI to set the communication preferences. We don't bill students or send their accounts to collections, so we have to do a bulk update of all the records with the UI after already touching every record with the API. This is cumbersome because there are over 100,000 student records that need to be updated. Most updates are smaller, but at the start of the school year we do a full refresh.
