  1. For TV series that have multiple volumes, or other volumed series associated with the same Bib record, I would like it when it prompts me about which volume I would like to place a hold on, to also give me the option to place a hold on all volumes.

  2. In the Item tab of the popup window for a patron's overdue charge properties, the "Check Out date" indicates the item's last renewal date, rather than its actual check out date. A more helpful date to see would be the original check out date; this would also better suit the title for this line.

  3. When creating a new item record on a bib, it would be wonderful if while typing in the volume field, Leap automatically suggested volumes from other items attached to that particular bib. This would help ensure standardization of how the volume is entered on each item record (eg. V.1 vs V. 1 vs. V.01) while also allowing the libraries to add a new volume number for volumes 2, 3, etc. since it would suggest while typing rather than changing the volume field to be a drop down menu of pre-defined options.

  4. Because new is both a location and a status, it would be helpful to have an item level field in LEAP that is for "new" items. A simple checkbox would be sufficient, like "holdable" or "display in PAC." This would free up shelf location for any items that are both new and in a specific area, such as Travel, World, Graphic, etc.

  5. Inventory Check-in via Leap is recorded as Check-ins for Item Statistic reports in SimplyReports. A way to filter inventory check-ins from statistical reports would be nice.

  6. It would be helpful if we could move rows up and down in the item statistical class code policy table. We have librarians transferring items between branches that have statistical class codes in them. The codes will automatically change to a different code when assigned to the new branch because the position of the code in the policy table does not align. The cataloger must remember to update that field to the correct code.

    This would be beneficial to our librarians, simplify their workflow, and prevent errors.

  7. I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.

    This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.

  10. We're working with a vendor to import patron records into Polaris as part of a program to give every student of the local school district a library card. As part of the arrangement, these student cards will be exempt from billing.

    Unfortunately, there is no means to check the "exclude from" overdues, billing, etc. boxes in the API, so this will have to be done manually every time a new batch of students is imported. Please make it possible to modify these options via API.

  12. Since record sets have 2-level deletion, like bibs, items, and authorities, the RecordSets table should have a RecordStatusDate column.

    When using the 2-level deletion to manage record clean-up, it is usual to purge records that have been deleted for a certain amount of time, but without the deletion date it is harder to determine. Because the modification date of deleted record sets is still updated by some actions taken on the records in the set (e.g. merging over a record), the only way to determine the deletion is by querying the transactions database.

  13. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

    Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

  15. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

  16. Currently, if I want to add series information for a book in the item record when I link it, I would need to put it in the volume field. It'd be nice if there was an easy way to indicate if a book is part of a series and where it falls in the series without it creating a super long call number.   17. Our ILL clerk would like to be able to see the due date for ILLs from the request manager, so she can make sure that the dates have been added correctly to these items. She currently has to go into each item individually to make sure they were correct.

  18. When the callnumber column is pulled from itemrecorddetails via SQL (as opposed to SimplyReports) it includes trailing and leading spaces. It's easy to fix these unwanted spaces in the client, but they don't show up at all in Leap, so can't be fixed. If Leap is to replace the client eventually, it would be great to able to fully edit these fields in Leap (we are hosted, so can't easily modify the data via SQL).

  19. We recently had a location close for a few weeks for a construction project. During that time, we turned it off as a holds pickup option in the PAC. However, patrons who were logged into their accounts and had that location as their default holds pickup location could still place holds for pickup at that location using One-Click. The only way to completely stop patrons placing holds for pickup at our closed location was to disable One-Click completely.
