Add Power Search features to Leap's OmniSearch
The usefulness of the OmniSearch box in Leap would be greatly enhanced by the addition of operators and Power Search (CCL) features so an experienced Polaris user could execute their search right away, in the OmniSearch, and get the results back in a Find Tool. As it is, if I want to search for, say, an item record, I need to:
- Click Find to launch the Find Tool
- Change the search type to Item Records
- Change whatever parameters I need to change after that.
- Maybe add a filter or two and then apply those filters
- Go back to the Find…

Ability to mark an item Missing or Damaged if it not owned or assigned to branch
In our 21-branch library system, staff need the ability to mark items as Damaged or Missing—even if the item is not owned or assigned to their specific branch. Currently, the process requires multiple logins and workstation changes, creating inefficiencies that impact service.
We've encountered lots of item management issues since migrating from SirsiDynix Symphony. Most recent issue was with handling lost-and-returned items. Specifically, when a customer returns a lost item to a branch that does not own it, and the item is damaged, staff struggle to process it effectively. Our policy requires holding damaged items for six months in case…

Item counts on PO and Invoice Headers
It would be beneficial to have a total item count in the header of POs and Invoices for quick reference. Currently there is no easy way to get this count from a PO or Invoice because there is not even a row count column under the items view.

Floating Close button in Patron Registration
Could we have it so the close button within the Patron Registration follows you as you scroll down like the "Save", "Renew", etc do? I often find myself nowhere near the top when I am done with a customer account and have to navigate all the way back up just to close the record. I could see this also being useful in Bib records

Apply credit to POLI
Currently it is only possible to apply a credit to an entire invoice, which then distributes that across all funds for all items on the invoice. We rarely actually have a credit that applies to an entire invoice. It will apply to a single title, or even and single item, and should only apply to the fund for that item/title.
It would be much better to be able to apply a credit to a POLI, or even better, a specific POLI segment.17 votes -

Add a note field when resolving Lost item charges at Check-in
We would like there to be an option to add a note when resolving lost item charges, processing fees, and overdue fees when checking in a Lost item. Currently, if we want to add a note when waiving processing fees or overdue fees, we have to first charge the fees, then go to the patron record and waive from there after the fact, just so we can add the notes. It would be much easier if we could add the notes right on the screen that pops up (see screenshot).

Password Reset PAPI Call
Currently we have to send patrons from our websites to the PAC if they need to reset their passwords. It would be great if there was an API call for this, as it's disruptive to the patron experience to have to send them to another site.
The suggested functionality would reflect the PAC experience: once they enter a barcode, a password reset email would be sent to the email address on the account.

Display Last Activity Date in Item Records
While Leap Item Record views are pretty robust, they often lack a very critical piece of information - Last Activity Date. Modification and Creation date display in Properties but Last Activity Date is not displayed. While it can sometimes be found in the History view, this is not always the case. Sometimes History is empty in Leap. We reference Last Activity date in the staff client on a regular basis and need ready access to that same information in Leap
Idea Value
Last Activity date and info can be helpful for collection evaluation and in tracking down items.17 votes -
Block patrons with lost items from checking out on SIP2 selfcheck
We'd like to block patrons from checking out on selfcheck units if they have lost items. Even though Polaris SA has a configuration in place, that setting only works for API setup, not sip2. we'd like to have a similar setting for sip2.

Allow staff to view read-only records without needing to cancel the override pop-up
For SHRs and Authorities, if you have read-only access to those records and try to view them, you get an override pop-up. This is happening because it is attempting to open those records in Write mode. To VIEW the record, you have to hit cancel, which is confusing for staff.
For Bib records, it does not work this way. For bib records, you can view them and then if you don't have permission to write or modify them, you get the pop-up when you attempt to save the record.
In the item record if you have view only permissions, it…

bulk change due dates
Allow libraries to bulk change due dates of items to account for unexpected closures. Would be ideal to be able to do this from a records set. Or create a SQL job and put it in GitHub or some other accessible location for libraries.

Create a Back End Updating Feature
A few days ago, we discovered an issue in Polaris. It wasn't a huge problem, but it was a bit disturbing for our cataloguers in that they encountered an error when trying to open up a record set. I checked with others in the IUG and, sure enough, there were other libraries who'd seen the same problem.
So I put in a ticket through the Supportal and received a prompt response. It was a known issue (though it wasn't on the list of Known Issues) and there was a patch available for it. I was asked if I'd like the…

Receiving from the PO and printing workslips with one command.
Or at least keep the check marks of the selected PO lines to receive and then to print slips to avoid selecting the same PO lines twice.16 votes -
Allow libraries to customize info displayed in Leap Patron Record header and properties
We need a way to bring perennial critical patron info to staff attention without creating blocks for customers or forcing staff to open the full patron registration. Having this info in the patron record header or properties would be ideal. For example: at our library, customer registered at branch is not critical info yet it is the most prominent value displayed in the header after name and card number, if we could designate UDF values to take it's place (such as bookmobile stop or language assist needed) or have space to reveal a designated UDF value under patron properties, it…

If the check box is checked for Use Name on Identification it only applies to print and telephone notices. It needs to apply to email notices too.

Align Item Editing and Manage Item Dialogs Permissions
Item editing permission organizations are based on the Owning Branch of an item. However, permissions for item editing through the checkout page ('Manage Item Dialogs') are based on the item's Assigned Branch (as well as the check-in branch matching the assigned branch).
We think it makes sense for both these permissions to be aligned to the Owning Branch, otherwise it can leave room for inappropriate changes. For instance, in our consortia some items are owned by one library but lent to others (assigned to their libraries), and this gap has led to item changes by staff that shouldn't have had…

Cancel Purchase Order Line Item Segment - LEAP
One way that our ability to transition to fully utilize LEAP for acquisitions is limited is the inability to cancel a segment of a Purchase Order Line Item. There are times when vendors only send us a partial fulfillment due to backorder cancellations or other issues. At this time, we have to use the client for this issue.
