  1. In Simply Reports, some filter menus do not populate options until a library/branch is chosen (i.e. Shelf Location, Stat Code, Statistical Class). This is helpful for consortia because the menus only become populated with the options available at each selected branch(es), keeping the options to a manageable size.

    We would like to see this dynamic menu functionality applied to the Collection, Material Type, and Patron Code filters as well.

    Currently, our consortium has 55 Material Types, 57 Patron Codes, and 284 Collections to choose from in these menus, which becomes quite overwhelming for users and involves A LOT of tedious…

As a library with a lot of historical serials, it would be very helpful to have barcodes visible in the OPAC so if I want to look at a serial issue that's a troublemaker in the catalog, I don't have to scroll through sometimes hundreds of issues in the client/LEAP to find the one I wanted to investigate.

  3. When libraries within our consortium borrow and lend items among each other, they send those items through the mail. Currently, they have to manually look up each other's mailing addresses (many times by Googling which isn't always accurate). It would save staff time and reduce errors if a library's mailing address could be included on the In-Transit Slips.

    This would also allow for libraries to ensure the requesting library has their 'preferred' mailing address if an item needs to be returned to a location other than the owning library. For example, if a Main Library processes holds for its smaller…

  4. Have a holds notification at checkout tell what library the item, or items, are being held at.

    Scenario: A patron who is not our patron is visiting our library and has holds on our holds shelf. They come to the desk with books to checkout. The notification that we get now is something like "patron has 3 holds at a library other than their home library of Potsdam" This does not signal to me to check my shelf, it could be any library. In the test LEAP we had, it would tell me "patron has 2 books held in Waddington…

  5. We need a note field in the item record that pops up as a warning box at check out and check in for notes that staff and patron may need to act on before checking out and in. Notes such as "Patron needs to sign a hold harmless form." Or the price of this piece of the kit is $250.00. Or "Item must be returned to this library." Staff should be able to close the window once they have read it.

  6. While Leap Item Record views are pretty robust, they often lack a very critical piece of information - Last Activity Date. Modification and Creation date display in Properties but Last Activity Date is not displayed. While it can sometimes be found in the History view, this is not always the case. Sometimes History is empty in Leap. We reference Last Activity date in the staff client on a regular basis and need ready access to that same information in Leap

  8. Add a reporting-only way to map Collection Codes and/or Material Types into any number of user-defined reporting groups, with many-to-many membership. Grouping logic should live in a maintained mapping table (not hardcoded in reports) so changes update all dependent reports automatically.

    Problem

    Only staff with database access can currently create sequel/SQL mapping tables (e.g., MapCollection, MapMaterialType) for flexible rollups. Others must regroup exports manually, which is inconsistent and fragile.

    Provide a UI-managed “Reporting Groups” feature that acts like a built-in mapping/lookup table:
    • Many-to-many: one code can belong to multiple groups; groups can contain multiple codes.

  9. Add an error message to the EDI logs when an invoice fails to load into the Polaris invoice tables due to a duplicate invoice number already existing in Polaris.

    This is becoming a bigger issue as Ingram has changed their invoice number scheme and they are using the same numbers as Midwest has used. There is no way to delete or edit past Midwest invoices, so this is a critical issue for figuring out why invoices aren't loading.

  10. One impediment for our processing staff in moving to Leap is the lack of the ability to quickly copy a line item in Leap (here's the process in the client: https://documentation.iii.com/polaris/7.6/#PolarisStaffHelp/Acquisitions/PAorder/Copy_a_purchase_order_line_item.htm)

    The same process in Leap involves several more steps:
    1.Go back to the PO
    2. click new line item
    3.fill out line item details
    4. click on segments
    5. click new segment
    6. fill out Collection Code and Fund

    A quicker way to get through a PO would be if we could add the same segment to all of the line items at once, e.g click the check…

  11. Currently it is only possible to apply a credit to an entire invoice, which then distributes that across all funds for all items on the invoice. We rarely actually have a credit that applies to an entire invoice. It will apply to a single title, or even and single item, and should only apply to the fund for that item/title.
    It would be much better to be able to apply a credit to a POLI, or even better, a specific POLI segment.

  13. We would like there to be an option to add a note when resolving lost item charges, processing fees, and overdue fees when checking in a Lost item. Currently, if we want to add a note when waiving processing fees or overdue fees, we have to first charge the fees, then go to the patron record and waive from there after the fact, just so we can add the notes. It would be much easier if we could add the notes right on the screen that pops up (see screenshot).

  14. Currently we have to send patrons from our websites to the PAC if they need to reset their passwords. It would be great if there was an API call for this, as it's disruptive to the patron experience to have to send them to another site.

    The suggested functionality would reflect the PAC experience: once they enter a barcode, a password reset email would be sent to the email address on the account.

  15. We'd like to block patrons from checking out on selfcheck units if they have lost items. Even though Polaris SA has a configuration in place, that setting only works for API setup, not sip2. we'd like to have a similar setting for sip2.

  16. Currently, our patrons can still place holds when their card is expired and then come in to get their hold and don't realize they need to verify their address so we can renew their card. Blocking patrons from placing holds until their card has been renewed and giving them a pop-up explaining that their card has expired, would be great.

The usefulness of the OmniSearch box in Leap would be greatly enhanced by the addition of operators and Power Search (CCL) features so an experienced Polaris user could execute their search right away, in the OmniSearch, and get the results back in a Find Tool. As it is, if I want to search for, say, an item record, I need to:

    1. Click Find to launch the Find Tool
    2. Change the search type to Item Records
    3. Change whatever parameters I need to change after that.
    4. Maybe add a filter or two and then apply those filters
    5. Go back to the Find…

  18. It would be beneficial to have a total item count in the header of POs and Invoices for quick reference. Currently there is no easy way to get this count from a PO or Invoice because there is not even a row count column under the items view.

  19. Could we have it so the close button within the Patron Registration follows you as you scroll down like the "Save", "Renew", etc do? I often find myself nowhere near the top when I am done with a customer account and have to navigate all the way back up just to close the record. I could see this also being useful in Bib records

  20. A few days ago, we discovered an issue in Polaris. It wasn't a huge problem, but it was a bit disturbing for our cataloguers in that they encountered an error when trying to open up a record set. I checked with others in the IUG and, sure enough, there were other libraries who'd seen the same problem.
