  3. When a hold request is placed, Polaris performs an eligibility evaluation only once—at the moment when the request is first placed. Polaris does not re-evaluate eligibility later. So if Polaris is configured to use hold trapping preferences that prefers "my patron" but some temporary circumstance prevents the assigned library's item from filling a hold for the library's patron, the hold must now be filled by a different library. This can be mitigated if staff notice the problem and delete and replace the hold, but this is a lot of extra overhead and in all likelihood the problem will go unnoticed.…

  4. When merging patron records, the system currently appends merge details to the Non-Blocking Notes section. However, with the introduction of Dated Notes and the ability to hide Non-Blocking Notes, this information can be lost depending on system settings.
    We would like to see one of the following options implemented:

    • Allow administrators to choose where the system writes merge notes.

    • Have the system automatically write merge notes to both note types (Non-Blocking and Dated Notes).

  6. Our catalogers used to be able to use QuickPaste (similar to PhraseExpress) to enter data in bibliographic records when using WorkFlows with SirsiDynix.

    We have hundreds of subject headings and genres, relationship designators, and other information saved in QuickPaste that could be inserted into bib records with easy key combinations. For example, <Control><Alt><S> would provide a dropdown list of 40 or so most commonly used genres that could be inserted easily. Another example is <Control><Alt><V> which would provide a dropdown of about 20 subfield |v inserts. This no longer works with the Leap MARC editor.

  8. It would help speed things up if the way we can filter by Active and Inactive patrons for Outreach could also be done with the Patron Selection Only checkbox with something like a yes/no drop down. We could more easily focus on patrons that need the extra attention.

  10. For library consortiums, it would be helpful for individual libraries to set their webpage catalog to just show items in their library. Patrons have the opportunity to put a REQUEST on items from their home library OR go to the full consortium catalog to see if an item is available and request an item from there. It is very confusing for patrons to see multiple items, e.g. a hardcover and paperback of the same book in the catalog. They request one but it may not be their library's copy.   11. In the i-tiva 3.0 dial-in process, there are menu navigation issues caused by a SIP2 Due Date (AH field) formatting issue. These issues cause the dial-in process to fail.

    In SIP2 message 18 (Item Information), Polaris is currently returning the Due Date in the following format:

    DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS

    Because the SIP2 standard does not define or enforce a required date format, i-tiva relies on vendor-compatible parsing. i-tiva has confirmed that this specific format is not parsed correctly and results in call-flow failures.

    i-tiva supports the following date formats, any of which would resolve the issue:
    • DD/MM/YYYY
    • D-M-YY
    •…

  13. We would like to have an option where non-resident patron types have a blocking condition for e-resources, but it only limits e-resources. We would like for them to be able to still manage their online accounts and renew physical items, so the patron-initiated blocking condition does not work. Right now, that can only be done in CloudLibrary through SIP, not API.

    I think this idea needs some clarification. Are you using a non-resident patron code? If so, we do return the PatronCodeID in our PatronValidate API. I wonder if this is a situation where Cloudlibrary has infrastructure in place to support checking the patron code via SIP, but not yet via the Polaris API.

  14. We've begun leveraging the "ExternalID" field in Polaris to integrate staff authentication with Google using our Google Workspace email addresses. During this process, we've encountered matching errors when updating existing Polaris accounts that share email addresses with previously deleted user accounts.

    It would be extremely helpful if, when a Polaris staff account is deleted, the associated ExternalID is automatically cleared to prevent these conflicts. Additionally, when an error does occur due to a duplicate ExternalID, a clearer error dialog that identifies the conflicting PolarisUserID would greatly assist in resolving the issue quickly.

  15. It would be helpful if Polaris could integrate with Skyward and TeacherEase Student Integration Systems. We currently provide service for a number of K-12 schools and it would be helpful if fines/fees could be transferred to the primary system a school uses.

  17. We use remote lockers that connect with SIP2 to the ILS. We are unable to send ILL's to the lockers and have them trapped by the locker software using SIP2 as all other materials that are in Transit status are able to be trapped via SIP2.
