Option to apply Registration fee waivers to transacting branch
Currently if a registration fee is charged or waived, it is applied to the patron's registered branch. I would like the option to have those listed under the transacting branch. For us this helps with accountability when running waive reports for cash reconciliation.

Ability to limit the "Number of days past first available" setting to the branch level only.
The "Number of days past first available" setting was developed specifically for the issue where libraries would like the new item's hold requests to be limited to only patrons registered at the item’s assigned branch and other branches associated with the same parent library for a specified number of days. We would like to try this workflow, however, it won't work in our system as all of our branches are under the same library organization.

Express Check: Enable Barcode Scanning from Username Field
We use both the barcode field and username field interchangeably for patron access at our express checkout units. Currently, the unit only recognizes barcodes when they are scanned from the barcode field. We need the system to also recognize and process barcodes stored in the username field when scanned.
For example, our school students have their student IDs stored as their primary barcode in Polaris, with their former library barcodes stored in the username field. When students attempt to use their RHPL cards, the barcode currently only works if they manually type it in. We would like these cards to…3 votes -
Polaris 8.0 - Have PolarisAdmin follow colors and client alert boxes to distinguish system
When changing settings, it is critical to make sure you're changing them in the right place.
The /PolarisAdmin should also pick up the color coding and client alerts. Currently, the /PolarisAdmin does NOT pickup the client color changes or wording, which means you need to do extra work to make sure you are changing the settings in the proper system.

Make "Library Has" field manually editable.
When our library transitioned from Sierra to Polaris, our Sierra serial check-in cards could not be transitioned. We have several serials that go back decades. In order to make the "Library Has" field display correctly in Vega, I currently create a publication pattern that begins with the earliest issue. I can then either extrapolate check-in boxes and check in every single back issue (which is a huge pain in Leap, because issues can only be checked in one at a time), or I can skip to the most recent issue received after the transition. This works well in Vega, but…

Staff choice in error report output from "add from" function
In playing around with Weeding-type record sets, we have noted the following: using the action "add from Item Record set" yields, as its error report output, a list of item-level control numbers.
If you "add from file", the error report output is item barcodes - a way of searching for items that comes a bit more intuitively to our desk staff.
It would save us a couple processing steps to avoid importing from files, so we would love to use the "add from item record set" feature - however, the control number output for problem items (those that are outside…

Integrate cloudLibrary with both Polaris and BiblioCommons
We recently began integrating Polaris with cloudLibrary in an effort to keep our collection more up-to-date and have patrons' Polaris accounts reflect their cloudLibrary borrowing. Unfortunately, our results have been inconsistent because while the Polaris/cloudLibrary connection works, there is not a fluid integration between Polaris, cloudLibrary, and BiblioCommons, where patrons are also able to check out cloudLibrary titles. We would like to see full integration between all three vendors so that transactions on any platform are properly communicated to the others.

Indication of a note for a specific issue on the Serial Check in card
When looking at the Serial Check in card, it would be helpful to have some sort of indication that a note has been added to a specific issue.

Expose web-based System Administration APIs
For larger library systems that need to continually create new staff members, being able to access the APIs would be a big time saver. That would allow, among other things, to automate that task.

Expand size and character limit of Reader Services note field
Our Access Services staff use the Reader Services tab and the Note field to list patron details to assist with readers advisory for elderly and homebound patrons.
They use the Preferences options to some degree, but have noticed a character limit in the Note field, which requires them to use abbreviations to fit their details. They asked: "Is there a way for Polaris to increase the character limit of the Note field in the reader services tab? Is there a way to increase the viewable space as well?"
Character limit may be around 250 or so, so they are abbreviating…

Ability to check in a routed serial with no barcode to be deleted in Leap
When we are done using a routed periodical we have no way of checking in the issue for deletion. We don't assign a barcode to these issues so it will not allow a check in. We need ability to either delete a periodical in a Routed status or a quick way to un-route to then allow us to delete.
Right now staff are forced into the item record and assign a barcode like "1", save record. Check in item. Then they can delete.

Fix Collection Agency Report
The Collection Agency Report currently includes a field for RtrndMaterial.
Apparently whoever designed the report defined this field as "Value of material returned. (RetndMaterial)...The value is the sum of all replacement charges for lost or billed items that were originally charged by the reporting organization and that have been waived."
In other words, if your staff waives replacement charges, that gets reported to the Collection Agency as returned material, even though no material was returned and the library has gained nothing. This paints an unrealistic picture of the results of your collection efforts and allows the collection agency to suggest…

Limit loans on new items from a branch
I would like to be able to limit new items to be available only to a specific branch (Library at Home/ Outreach for example) but only for a specific time frame. We have this functionality for a library level, but not branch.

Better printing of Record Sets
Record set printing is often a mystery -
I often need to print a List View, but the printed result is very unpredictable.
Sometimes it turns out how I want, but other times the page is limited to the top of the page (see attached photo), and 3 times as many pages print since the whole page size isn't utilized. It seems to depend on the size of the columns and how many are hidden, etc, but I can't be sure what factors make it work. The best workaround seems to be printing to pdf, checking it, and then printing…

Clarify Transaction History Display Behavior
When viewing a patron’s transaction history, selecting a transaction displays the related/paired transaction (e.g., waive vs. original charge). This behavior is working as designed but creates confusion because the displayed details do not match the selected row.
Current Behavior
• Staff select a transaction (e.g., a charge from 2/23/26) and select the history button.
• The system opens a detail view showing the associated transaction (e.g., the waive from 3/26/26).
• This makes it appear as though the system is pulling incorrect or reversed data.User Impact
• Causes confusion and lack of confidence in the accuracy of transaction records.…2 votes -
Filter by Patron Selection Only in Outreach Services Utility
It would help speed things up if the way we can filter by Active and Inactive patrons for Outreach could also be done with the Patron Selection Only checkbox with something like a yes/no drop down. We could more easily focus on patrons that need the extra attention.

Provide export option for hold unclaimed from Picklist
This would enhance staff ability to isolate items requiring action, particularly when unscheduled closures impact hold until dates and for special programs that have different parameters.

When receiving items in ASN, check immediately if there's an invoice to generate
When receiving cartons in ASN, it would be nice if Polaris would check immediately if there's an invoice to generate instead of either a. going to the process EDI invoices work form to find and generate it manually, or b. waiting until the next day when the EDIAgent runs again.

Vendor-Profile SIP2 Due Date Formatting
In the i-tiva 3.0 dial-in process, there are menu navigation issues caused by a SIP2 Due Date (AH field) formatting issue. These issues cause the dial-in process to fail.
In SIP2 message 18 (Item Information), Polaris is currently returning the Due Date in the following format:
DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS
Because the SIP2 standard does not define or enforce a required date format, i-tiva relies on vendor-compatible parsing. i-tiva has confirmed that this specific format is not parsed correctly and results in call-flow failures.
i-tiva supports the following date formats, any of which would resolve the issue:
• DD/MM/YYYY
• D-M-YY

Ability to Suppress Custom Data Fields
In Polaris System Administration, there is existing functionality to suppress UDF 1–5 in the Web App (Leap), which allow the fields to be written to, but prevents staff from viewing or editing them.
We would like to request that the same suppression functionality be extended to Patron Custom Data Fields. Currently, the only available option is to enable these fields, which simply turns them on or off. This lacks the flexibility we need.Adding suppression capability to Patron Custom Data Fields would greatly enhance our ability to manage sensitive or system-used data more effectively.
