  1. Currently, the new 7.4 item language field is using the same Languages table used in patron registration. For patron records, the language preference field displays in their account in PowerPAC. Patrons use this field to select their preferred notification language.

    If a library wants to add a new language to the Languages table, it will be added as an option for both item records and patron accounts.   2. We have a number of custom reports in the Polaris Staff Client that need to be accessible to our Circulation Staff in Leap. Ideally all Polaris canned reports should also be available to all staff in Leap. One custom report we use is for patrons who don't have an email address. Their notification option is set to mailing address. However, if they have a hold we call them instead of sending the hold notice by mail.     Just to set expectations, our strategy at this time is for users to access reports through the SSRS portal. As Eleanor mentioned in her comment, we are adding customizable menu options to Leap in 7.5 with the intent that they be used to link users to the reporting interface.

  3. The Polaris Leap login screen consists of two text fields, a button, and a low resolution PNG floating upon an ocean of #CCCCCC. It is, in a word, boring. There are no easy customization options offered that allow a library to give it the look and feel that they want, save for one option that will change the colour of the menu bar.   4. Imagine the possibilities if we could automate the process of bulk changes to bib records as part of an import profile.

    Other ILS systems offer robust manipulation of bib records upon import, but this is missing from Polaris.

    By allowing bib bulk changes to be stored in templates, just like item bulk changes, we can streamline the process and save valuable time. Imagine having a set of predefined steps for importing bibs from specific sources or of certain record types. It would ensure consistency and accuracy, eliminating manual effort.

  5. As Polaris currently exists (v7.3 at my library), User 1 wants to share a bibliographic record set with User 2 and User 3. In order to do this, they have to change the record set's owner from User 1 to Organization 1. But this allows all members of Organization 1 with the permissions "Cataloging Record Sets: Modify" and "Cataloging Record Sets: Delete/Undelete" to make changes to that record set.   6. Library staff frequently place holds that can’t be filled on the records for e-books from non-integrated vendors like Hoopla. Canceling these holds takes time. Since we still need to allow holds for the integrated vendors, we can’t change the material type to unholdable in system administration. Adding the ability to block holds by resource group or vendor account would solve the problem.

  7. I would like to be able to have a particular hold become active after a different hold has become filled. This is particularly useful for customers who are engaged in a series and do not want them all at once, but do want them in order and want to place all the holds at the same time.

  9. A staff member asked us to post this. When using the quick search in leap and typing in a query does not lead to a record, the text should stay inputted so the staff member can edit their query as opposed to having to retype it all over again when trying again.

  10. In Leap Serials, the ability to select multiple issues and then click check in is needed for large libraries to use Leap Serials, exclusively. The workflow of selecting each individual issue and then clicking check in is slow and tedious.

  11. Our library team have requested to be able to see the series name and volume number in the returned bib records when searching with the find tool. It will mean they no longer need to open each result to see this information

  12. Being a visual learner it is complicated to go from the icons in Polaris being a much larger size and being in color to what is shown in Leap. The icons in Leap are much smaller and have no color to differentiate them. For the sake of Accessibility purposes is there any way that the icons can be bigger and to add a pop of color to them in Leap. Attached are pictures of the icons in Polaris from the toolbar vs Leap.

  13. Library staff regularly have need to copy a customer's name from their Leap patron record into our room reservation system. Currently you cannot copy the name displayed in the leap patron record header but you can copy the barcode directly below. Clicking into registration isn't helpful as a copy option the name info is in separate fields.

  15. We often have branches close unexpectedly due to facilities issues, when this happens we need to move the Held items from that branch to another branch. Currently there is no way to bulk change the pickup location between branches. This function would be very helpful for us.

  16. Adding a icon/button within the Patron Status "Items Out" view which would send an email to the email address on file for the patron which lists all items currently checked out and their due date.

    There is already a print icon/button on the Patron Status "Items Out" view which can be used to print the list of items out and their due date. Adding an email icon/button would allow patrons to receive this list easily via email when they come to the desk and ask staff for a list of the items checked out.

  17. Sometimes libraries leave a consortium. Sometimes a branch is closed or merged into another branch. And after the Polaris ILS Admin takes care of clearing out all the bib, item, and patron data... the branches and libraries remain in System Administration.

    Just sitting there and doing nothing.

    I know it's a huge pain to remove a branch or library from Polaris and I know there's likely an extra cost to it because it's such an involved process.

    So add the ability to hide them instead.

  18. Within the bibliographic record, occasionally there are duplicate fields. We need a way to easily detect them, especially with bibs upon bibs that are merged. We end up with a ton of duplicate 035 fields.

  20. Please allow libraries to limit online registrations by their selected geographic location (state, county, city, zip code, etc.). We have too many people signing up that are outside our location and then using the resources which eats up our budget thus robbing our true patrons from their share of the resources.

    We currently have to comb through the registrations and find the "out of area" one and manually delete them. Would be better to prevent them in the first place. Never goodwill to give and then have to take away.

    This will help Library staff and Library patrons.
