  1. Acquisitions staff frequently need to bulk change item records for a specific order. This is commonly done for orders that were placed manually instead of using EDI or if Polaris created item records using the wrong template. In the Client, it can efficiently be done as an ad hoc bulk change by opening the list of items that are linked to a PO or invoice. The ad hoc bulk change button should be added to the tab that contains the list of item records linked to the PO and Invoice in Leap in order to make this process more efficient.…

  2. In Leap Serials, the ability to select multiple issues and then click check in is needed for large libraries to use Leap Serials, exclusively. The workflow of selecting each individual issue and then clicking check in is slow and tedious.

  3. Library staff regularly have need to copy a customer's name from their Leap patron record into our room reservation system. Currently you cannot copy the name displayed in the leap patron record header but you can copy the barcode directly below. Clicking into registration isn't helpful as a copy option the name info is in separate fields.

  5. We often have branches close unexpectedly due to facilities issues, when this happens we need to move the Held items from that branch to another branch. Currently there is no way to bulk change the pickup location between branches. This function would be very helpful for us.

  6. One of the key hold ups to staff embracing Leap over the staff client at our library is the need to click continue or press the enter key to generate a hold slip for EVERY item triggering a hold in bulk check in. We are a large, RFID library and these added key strokes required for processing pulled requests and book drop are a primary complaint and Leap adoption deterrent for our staff.

  8. When using the "Reset Password" option on a patron's account, it would be very useful to have a checkbox option to display the password that is being typed instead of a series of dots. By obscuring the password when typing we have found that our staff may accidentally leave caps lock on or type something incorrect - they would like the option to see what they are typing in these fields. Once the password is set, we of course do not want the ability to view the password after the fact - leave it securely encrypted in the database. This…

  9. Sometimes libraries leave a consortium. Sometimes a branch is closed or merged into another branch. And after the Polaris ILS Admin takes care of clearing out all the bib, item, and patron data... the branches and libraries remain in System Administration.

Just sitting there and doing nothing.

I know it's a huge pain to remove a branch or library from Polaris and I know there's likely an extra cost to it because it's such an involved process.

So add the ability to hide them instead.

That way, when a library leaves the system, you're not wading through the settings and…

  10. Currently, when working through Picklist processing, items can be marked as "Located". While this is useful for in-library work flow to indicate that it has been found, it doesn't do anything to prevent another member library or branch location from filling the hold request when trapped at point of check-in. This causes problems in a multi-branch or larger consortia system where there is a higher chance of popular material being checked in throughout the day.

Ideally, it would be great if marking an item as "Located" not only changed the status from the Picklist, but also prevented another item from…

  11. Please allow libraries to limit online registrations by their selected geographic location (state, county, city, zip code, etc.). We have too many people signing up that are outside our location and then using the resources which eats up our budget thus robbing our true patrons from their share of the resources.

We currently have to comb through the registrations and find the "out of area" one and manually delete them. Would be better to prevent them in the first place. Never goodwill to give and then have to take away.

This will help Library staff and Library patrons.

  12. A request for an enhancement from our Homebound Services (Outreach) department: In Reading History, it would be beneficial to generate an alert (has had) from the Reading History when placing a hold, not during check out of the item. Presently, the current setting notifies staff at check out whether the patron has had the title already.

  13. Our site manager said this was a previous long-standing enhancement request and suggested I check here and vote on it. I can't find anything that matches, so am starting an idea.

We have several patrons at different branches placing holds on items they already checked out so as to bypass our unwritten guideline of leaving items available to others for 24 hours before being checked out again. Now, for older items this isn't a problem and staff are allowed to make exceptions, but this practice is becoming a issue. We do allow one renewal, but apparently this isn't enough for…

  14. When conducting a PowerPAC search using the "limit by" feature to select one's home library and combining that with the "available now" facet, the implication is that only the items at one's home library will show up. That is not the case, as available items at all consortium libraries display in the results. Although it is possible to achieve the desired results by selecting the local library under the "assigned branch" facet, this is not very intuitive for library patrons.

We would like to see the "available now" facet in PowerPAC split into two options for libraries in consortiums. One…

  15. Add more (optional) Holds Request to Fill Routing Sequence tables.

    Idea Value
As libraries work together more and more in order to provide the best possible services, it's important that Polaris provide needed flexibility in holds routing. This is especially important for consortia (many of which are growing as independent libraries experience budget crunches and are looking for efficiencies). The current primary/secondary RTF and different grouping options are good, but insufficient as material delivery challenges make moving holds across libraries more costly/difficult (especially if there are large areas involved).

  16. Some items get stuck in transit and are never found again, it would be nice if these could automatically transition to missing after a customizable period of time, similar to Lost -> Withdrawn and Missing -> Withdrawn.

  17. Currently staff can either edit/modify bib records or they can't. Greater granularity in what edits can be allowed would help distribute the work of maintaining bib records.

For example, if acquisitions staff could be allowed to add additional ISBNs or UPCs to existing bibs, it would free up cataloguing staff from this simple task without opening bib editing completely to a large number of people.

In a larger library system, especially a consortium with a shared catalogue, this could be a big time-saver to both acq and cat staff.

  18. The patron birthdate field and postal code field both require correct formatting to save the record. If would be helpful to staff if Leap could have auto-formatting (as many web forms do), e.g. insert the dashes in the birthdate (yyyy-mm-dd) and capitalize and insert the space in the postal code (A1A 1A1).

Adding the calendar date picker back for the birthdate field would also be great, assuming that the issues it used to cause could be resolved.

  19. A staff member asked us to post this. When using the quick search in leap and typing in a query does not lead to a record, the text should stay inputted so the staff member can edit their query as opposed to having to retype it all over again when trying again.

  20. Scenario:
    1. An item that has been trapped and is (most often) sent from another library to fill a hold for pickup at another branch.
    2. The Hold is put on the shelf for the customer at a branch.
    3. After X days, it shows up on the Unclaimed list.
    4. Staff go to the shelf to remove it, but it is not there.
    5. Staff check the system - the item has not been checked out by anyone (sometimes customer are confused and think a hold is actually already checked out to them a la picking up an online…
