  1. Leap should include the ability to create or add to an item record from the check-in workform. Most of the functionality is already there in that items can be selected via checkboxes and all items can selected from the topmost checkbox. By adding the option to the Actions menu, circ staff could quickly roll items over into a record set for a variety of other uses.

  2. We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection.   3. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  4. There are times when we could easily fix bib records via SQL but may run into issues where the index may no longer be valid and the updated bib records may not appear or be omitted in search results. Instead of requesting for a FULL database re-index, we could easily group the involved records into a Record Set and use Bulk Change with a "Miscellaneous" tab with the option "Re-index Bibliographic Records".

  5. Provide aggregate circulation data and status by branch and item record. Previously this information was available on the Preview screen of the desktop client. Desired information by branch: Number of items, Number of holds, Year-to-date circulation, Previous year-to-date circulation, Lifetime circulation, Year-to-date in-house use, Previous year-to-date in-house use, Lifetime in-house use. Desired information by item: Assigned Branch, Collection, First available date, Year-to-date circulation, Previous year-to-date circulation, Lifetime circulation, Year-to-date in-house use, Previous year-to-date in-house use, Lifetime in-house use, Shelf location, Volume information, Current Circulation Status, Barcode, Last activity Date. This information should be sortable by any field.

    1. Open a patron record in leap
    2. Navigate to the notes section
    3. Make a change to the note field
    4. Click the button to close the note (upper right hand corner)

    The note is not saved, nor is a warning message shown. This is different from the behavior of the desktop, which always saves the note when you close the record (not really the preferred behavior either since there is no undo in notes).

    This should work the way changes to the patron registrations work in Leap - warn there has been a change before allowing the record to be closed.

  6. Within the bibliographic record, occasionally there are duplicate fields. We need a way to easily detect them, especially with bibs upon bibs that are merged. We end up with a ton of duplicate 035 fields.

  8. When a record (item, bib, etc.) is opened from Find results and then marked as deleted, it (and the Find results) are automatically closed. It would great if the record did not close (leaving the Results button available) or the record closed and returned the user to the Find results.

  9. Our library team have requested to be able to see the series name and volume number in the returned bib records when searching with the find tool. It will mean they no longer need to open each result to see this information

  11. We had a front-line staff member contact us because he was getting a "The domain, username or password is incorrect" error message when he tried to log in to Leap. Support was able to tell us that he was locked out because he had incorrectly typed his password five times. They confirmed that the error message that will be shown when this happens is "The domain, username or password is incorrect." Not only is that error message text factually untrue, it is identical to the error message that a staff person sees if their password actually IS being entered incorrectly.…

  12. We would like to have more enhanced data fields within SimplyReports in order to help users create reports that can fit their needs a bit better. For example, we recently ran into an issue where a staff member wanted a field that can indicate status descriptions for Lost/Unpaid or Lost/Accruing. In this case, it was explained that there would need to be a combination of patron account information, item status information and library settings needing to be available in order for this to work. Can possibly looked into for the future?

  13. Patrons with a large number of items in their reading history have a hard time searching it due to pagination. It would be helpful if the amount of items per page were customizable (and with that the max number of pages). Even better if there was a search option that could find items in the reading history across paged data.

  14. Create a recall function that is separate from the holds queue so Technical Services can get items back (for relabeling, for weeding, etc.). Technical Services often use internal cards to place holds on a specific barcode. This sometimes work, but has a few drawbacks:
    1. The hold disrupts circulation (renewals, other holds, potentially in-transit)
    2. If the item goes into a status that cannot fulfill holds (e.g. item becomes LOST), the holds will go back the queue and be reassigned to another item on the bib. Technical Services usually needs the specific barcode, not just any item on the bib.

  15. I have occasionally found multiple supplier records for a single supplier account, whether added by mistake or under multiple names (Thomas Klise and Crimson, for example). When these supplier records are accidental duplicates, I believe it would be helpful to have the ability to merge them (retaining all linked POs and invoices) to maintain one supplier record per account.

  16. Right now, automatic renewals happen 3 days before the due date. If the item someone has out is supposed to fill a hold for someone else then it never automatically renews even if another item ends up filling that hold. There should be a schedule for automatic renewals to occur 3 days, 2 days, 1 day, before the item is due and the day the item is due so there are multiple opportunities for that item to automatically renew in the event that a hold gets filled by another library and that item is now eligible for renewal again.   17. It would be nice if from the staff side in Polaris and LEAP we could select whether to notify the patron if an item they placed on hold gets cancelled. Sometimes we have to cancel holds for various reasons and LEAP is often faster in notifying the patron with no context when their request was cancelled which can cause confusion for the patron. Staff should get the option of whether a patron gets notified or not and if possible, if we could have the option to add a message to the cancel notification they get.

  18. When I browse in the PAC (specifically, by call number) it provides a list of call numbers. I can choose one, and am brought to it. But, if I want to look at the neighboring items, I have to "Go back to Browse Results" and select the next one from the list. It would be much easier to arrow back/forward between results without returning to the results list.

  19. We would like to see additional information and functions available in the Polaris Client or LEAP so that staff have more resources and information to support customers with questions about online resources.

    For example, library staff would benefit from seeing real-time hold information in Polaris about items on Overdrive or Hoopla. Currently, Polaris shows an asterix (*) under holds. Library staff need to either go to the PAC or Overdrive to provide customers with this information.
