  1. Currently, the new 7.4 item language field is using the same Languages table used in patron registration. For patron records, the language preference field displays in their account in PowerPAC. Patrons use this field to select their preferred notification language.

    If a library wants to add a new language to the Languages table, it will be added as an option for both item records and patron accounts.   2. The item price field allows for high values to be entered into it. Which means things like item barcodes or ISBN numbers can set the price of an item in the billions. This incorrect price can then appear in places like "you saved" receipts for patrons and on other reports that are then difficult to correct.

  3. I'm repeatedly finding instances where a patron is missing their registration date. At first, I thought it was migrated data, but after updating those records, I discovered it happening over and over. Please prevent the registration date from being deleted.

  4. In our system of 33 branch locations, we often receive system-wide email requests to complete checks of the stacks for items customers claim to have returned but that are still on their accounts.

    It would be helpful if Item Records had an additional "Action" option that allowed staff to select "Request Shelf Check". The item would then populate on every branch's picklist with a unique icon next to it, and there would be a checkbox at the top of the list, similar to "INN-Reach Only", that would allow staff to narrow the list to what was shelf check requested by…

  5. Polaris has long supported an option in Patron Registration where you can mark a patron record as "Do Not Delete." I'd like to see that same functionality carried over to record sets. For me, it's a fairly common task to recover accidentally deleted record sets for staff members who've somehow managed to delete an important and often used record set, despite every warning they receive.

    Specifically, I'd like to see this option added at the permissions level, with separate permissions for:

    • Mark a record set as "do not delete"
    • Clear a record set for deletion

  6. We would like the ability to do stacked sorting in searches and record sets. This would allow the user to sort by one aspect and then another with it stacked (eg. sorting by pub date and then call number, so you see items within a call number in pub date order). In both searches and record sets, it only seems to sort by the current choice, meaning the way it's sorted within that one type is random (or alphabetical by title, which isn’t always the most useful).

    1. Open a patron record in leap
    2. Navigate to the notes section
    3. Make a change to the note field
    4. Click the button to close the note (upper right hand corner)

    The note is not saved, nor is a warning message shown. This is different from the behavior of the desktop, which always saves the note when you close the record (not really the preferred behavior either since there is no undo in notes).

    This should work the way changes to the patron registrations work in Leap - warn there has been a change before allowing the record to be closed.

  7. In Leap Serials, the ability to select multiple issues and then click check in is needed for large libraries to use Leap Serials, exclusively. The workflow of selecting each individual issue and then clicking check in is slow and tedious.

  9. A staff member asked us to post this. When using the quick search in leap and typing in a query does not lead to a record, the text should stay inputted so the staff member can edit their query as opposed to having to retype it all over again when trying again.

  10. Right now, automatic renewals happen 3 days before the due date. If the item someone has out is supposed to fill a hold for someone else then it never automatically renews even if another item ends up filling that hold. There should be a schedule for automatic renewals to occur 3 days, 2 days, 1 day, before the item is due and the day the item is due so there are multiple opportunities for that item to automatically renew in the event that a hold gets filled by another library and that item is now eligible for renewal again.   11. I would like to be able to have a particular hold become active after a different hold has become filled. This is particularly useful for customers who are engaged in a series and do not want them all at once, but do want them in order and want to place all the holds at the same time.

  12. We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection.   13. Incorrect email addresses and phone numbers in patron records cause hold and overdue notices to fail. This results in a negative patron experience and requires wasted staff time for troubleshooting and manual data correction. Polaris should behave like other systems and verify contact information before using it.

    When an email address is entered into a record, the system will send a message with a verification link. After the patron clicks the link, the email's status in the ILS will change from "Unverified" to "Verified". A visual indicator will show the verified status to both staff and patrons.

  14. Now that in Leap we can compare bib records side by side, it would be very helpful to be able to compare record sets side by side. Right now I'm exporting contents and comparing in Excel/Google Sheets, and then sometimes importing the results into a new record set. I'd love to be able to see two record sets next to each other and edit as needed directly in Leap. Apologies if this idea has already been submitted. Thanks!

In order to require patrons who are self-registering via the PAC to choose a notification preference, please remove the 'none' option from the Preferences dropdown, or at least allow for the option to customize what appears in the Preferences dropdown. By removing 'none' - or allowing for the option to remove it - patrons would effectively be required to provide a notification method, which would allow the library they are self-registering with to easily contact them should any problems arise with their application.

  17. Library staff frequently place holds that can’t be filled on the records for e-books from non-integrated vendors like Hoopla. Canceling these holds takes time. Since we still need to allow holds for the integrated vendors, we can’t change the material type to unholdable in system administration. Adding the ability to block holds by resource group or vendor account would solve the problem.

  18. Our library team have requested to be able to see the series name and volume number in the returned bib records when searching with the find tool. It will mean they no longer need to open each result to see this information

  19. Library staff regularly have need to copy a customer's name from their Leap patron record into our room reservation system. Currently you cannot copy the name displayed in the leap patron record header but you can copy the barcode directly below. Clicking into registration isn't helpful as a copy option the name info is in separate fields.
