  2. For libraries with floating collections, the location where an item was made "claimed returned" may not reflected in the item record. This is because the 3 options staff have when an item is "claimed returned" does not change the location of the item.

    Essentially the problem:
    An item is “checked out” at location A.
    The item is “claimed returned” at location B.
    The item location remains as location A.

    Staff have 3 choices when they make an item claimed returned:

    · 1. Places a claimed returned note in both the item and patron records

    · 2. (Optional) Removes the check-out…

  3. When you export a file with Scheduler FTP, it currently adds a time and date stamp on the end of the file name. We have no control over this addition to the file name. This stamp makes the file completely useless for many applications. Many of the vendors we might send files to require particular file extensions on our files, such as .mrc. Since this stamp is added to the end of the file name, it is not possible to specify the required file extension.

    As a result Scheduler is completely incompatible with Ingram's Ipage service for example.

  4. Objective: Allow Libraries to assign granularity to API role permissions.

    When Libraries give a 3rd party vendor read access, we want to be able to restrict the endpoints associated with the role. In addition, we want to restrict the fields that can be returned. Ideally, the implementation of the requested features below will provide an interface to the Innovative clients where the vendor access will be managed.

    There are endpoint and field restriction examples below to show how assigning granularity to API role permissions would allow libraries to improve access management.

    Endpoint restriction example:
    We would like to be able…

  5. In the SDA OR Sierra Web, the Sierra 2-tier login workflow allows administrators to set a "time-out" setting to the 2nd tier (personalized) login. This setting determines if the session will time out or close after a specific amount of time.

    This is an excellent workflow except that there is no setting to manage 1st tier inactivity. This means at the end of the day we have many Sierra licenses that remain open and the Library must manually force close the desktop applications using the "restart a process" in Admin Corner.

    Please configure context logins so that Libraries can determine…

  6. In Sierra - SDA and Web - you can sort review files in Create Lists by the column header, i.e., file #, current records, max records, type, status, login and created.

    In the Admin App (BACK END MANAGEMENT > Review Files), the only columns displaying are file # (which doesn't appear to match the file # in the SDA/Sierra Web), number of records (= max records), current and name. Sorting by column is not an option.

    The display, labeling and function for managing review files should be consistent.

    Idea Value
    When managing review files in the admin app, particularly when…

  7. In circtrans and finespaid views (and maybe more views) there are several dates that are showing a value of 0 (which displays as 1969-12-31 due to UNIX date formatting).

    Dates do not have a value of 0, they can however, have a value of NULL, which is already how things work with other dates in the system, like the bib record cataloguingdategmt.

    This should be fixed for any dates in the system, not because anyone may or may not vote for it, but because it is both inaccurate and inconsistent.

    I logged this as a ticket,…

  8. Staff want to limit their search in Search/Holds to items that are on the shelf at their branch. These would be items with a status of "available" and a loan rule equal to zero.

    Circulation workflows are severely impacted when staff have to use the SDA and the Discovery Catalogue to determine if items are in the branch.

    Libraries with floating collections or multi-branch libraries do not always know what is on their shelves.

    Customers that visit the circulation desk want to know if an item is in the branch. Staff want to know if items on a particular subject…

  9. I know that there is a product called External Patron Images that would allow patron photos to display in their records. I am wondering if a similar product exists for documents (such as PDF)? For some of our lending items, patrons must sign a user waiver to agree to the terms and conditions, and we currently have a two step process to verify if this has happened each time they come in. It would be good to be able to add the scanned image of the waiver to a patron record for easier verification.

  10. When viewing an item record, you can double click on the patron# and you can view the patron record of the person who currently has the item on loan. It would be good to also be able to have the option to actually edit the patron record, and to also be able to access what they currently have checked out.

    Idea Value
    This would negate having to have another Sierra session open and do a separate search for the patron's record so as to check what else they might have on loan, and/or to amend their record/add a message etc.…

  11. When going through various Headings Reports, we'll end up reviewing the same bib record that has multiple first-time-use entries throughout the report. It would be nice if they could be sorted by the bib record to reduce staff time and stay in the same record as long as needed.

    Perhaps the bib record could be pulled from the Entry column and inserted into a new column in the display that could then be sorted like the other available columns.

  13. We have a large consortia set up. Many clients are not required to bring their library card to the library circulation desk/s. When the library staff are searching for patrons with common surnames, quickly identifying their branch's patrons can be difficult - staff suggest adding a filter for home library or limiting the browse to their statistical group in their logins will limit the number of mistaken attempts to open the incorrect borrower record.

  14. Twice in the past year we have encountered errors in which the overnight statistics process did not complete leading to a missing day's worth of transactions in Web Management Reports. In both cases we only learned of this missing data later upon running monthly reports and finding an undercount.

    Upon being alerted Innovative has been able to retrieve the missing data and add it back to WMR, but doing so adds it to the current month instead of the correct timeframe. This latest occurrence crossed fiscal years for us, essentially breaking the reporting tool for our needs.

    Fortunately, this is…

  15. There is currently no way to update the status of a hold in the API.

    It would be very useful to change the status from

    "status": {
    "code": "0",
    "name": "on hold."
    },

    to

    "status": {
    "code": "i",
    "name": "Requested item ready for pickup."
    },

  16. Sometimes it's unclear what permission is triggering the authorization required/override prompt during a transaction and thus what staff member will need to step in to override/allow the transaction to go through. It would be helpful if the "authorization required" prompt included the permission(s) that apply to the transaction.

  17. I am wondering if Sierra can be adapted to automatically insert name, date of birth and address using an id scanner, such as those used at grocery stores when verifying a person's age. This would save staff the time of manually entering this information into the appropriate fields. It would also allow less typos and/or other mistakes when inputting the information. Of course, having the manual option would still be necessary.

  18. Notify user when a patron linked to the current patron has holds available for pickup. This would eliminate the need to check individual accounts. The also eliminates having a patron leave without all the available holds for that family.

  19. Customers have the ability to freeze holds currently, but after the time has elapsed from them to be frozen, there is no message or alert, or automatic way for the holds to be "unfrozen".

    Make a way for the holds to automatically unfreeze, or at the least for the customer to get a notice that the time has expired, so that they can unfreeze the hold themselves.

    Idea Value
    Our staff look at holds and how they are progressing as an indicator for purchasing additional items. the frozen holds show up in this list as well, and it is challenging…

  20. Our Acquisitions staff does not use List Price when ordering, & is hoping that Estimated Price could be modifiable via Rapid Update. At the moment, this would help them modify 200+ order records, which they now have to do manually.
