  1. There are already some other ideas/requests for additional Hold Slip configurations and, while I fully support any additional receipt configuration, they're scope is pretty broad. Meanwhile, this is a pretty specific idea/request that I would hope could be implemented easily. The subject pretty much says it all, but we would like the ability to append the Hold Pickup Slip to the Hold Slip. Currently, it is only possible to append the Hold Pickup Slip to the Hold Call Slip (not a particularly distinct name...) which prints ALL of the patron's available holds. This can result in some VERY long receipts…

  2. We recently had a patron complain about receiving 2nd hold notices and hold cancellation notices. Is it be possible to add these notices under "exclude from notices and reminders" in the patron account?

  3. Our system uses over 20 patron codes but less than half are used when first registering an account. We'd appreciate the ability to suppress some patron codes from the patron code dropdown menu in the NEW patron workform (but not when displaying an existing patron account that has already been saved and had a patron ID assigned). This would cut down on staff accidentally selecting the incorrect patron code when registering accounts.

  4. It would be super helpful to have the ability to create a report in Simply Reports (Bib list report) that would update an existing record set, which would then automatically update a Showcase/Carousel in the mobile app.

    Here is my example.
I created a report in Simply Reports, advance published it, and in SSRS I subscribed to the report and set it up to email me. (Receiving the report is just for tracking purposes. What is needed is the report to run and update the record set, to in turn update the Showcase/Carousel.)

When creating the report, under 'Bib record…

  5. I would like to be able to edit the transaction notes field in a patron account summary. We recently had an instance come up where someone forgot to add information to an item that a patron was being charged for. It would be nice to be able to go in and edit it after the fact as opposed to having to delete the charge and start over.

  6. In our 21-branch library system, staff need the ability to mark items as Damaged or Missing—even if the item is not owned or assigned to their specific branch. Currently, the process requires multiple logins and workstation changes, creating inefficiencies that impact service.

We've encountered lots of item management issues since migrating from SirsiDynix Symphony. Most recent issue was with handling lost-and-returned items. Specifically, when a customer returns a lost item to a branch that does not own it, and the item is damaged, staff struggle to process it effectively. Our policy requires holding damaged items for six months in case…

  7. We would like the ability to exclude holds from outreach patrons from our picklist, since the outreach module has its own picklist. In addition, having the picklist to show the patron's name would be a great feature.

    1. Patron has a held item
    2. Held item is cancelled
    3. Then the patron record is deleted
    4. The hold on the holds to action will have no patron name shown.

This means that staff have no real way to know where their hold is on the hold shelf (holds are arranged on the shelf by patron name) to be removed. This was originally entered as a bug, but it was closed as a bug because it was working as designed.

  8. We would like Polaris to transition items with a Circulation Status of Claim Returned and Claim Never Had to Withdrawn after a specified number of days. We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and the Missing Item Transition.

    Idea Value
Adding this feature would allow a library to automatically remove items from patron view and allow for a more streamline process for deleting item records.

  9. Add the ability to add a 006 or 007 field to records via bibliographic bulk change in Leap. Leap has the ability to edit existing fixed fields via bulk change and the staff client offers the ability to add a new 006 or 007 via bulk change, so this would be part of bringing Leap into parity with the staff client. Bib records that come in from OCLC often lack the exact fixed field coding requires to display the correct Type of Material in Polaris so the ability to add missing fields via bulk change in Leap will make cataloging…

  10. The volume field might seem straightforward, but when it's not standardized—or when anyone can input anything—it quickly becomes a source of frustration, especially with holds and sorting. Imagine a patron placing a hold on “Volume 2,” but one record says “v.2,” another says “Vol 2,” and another just “2”… chaos ensues.

Making that field permission-based could go a long way in preserving data consistency and reducing hold errors. It puts a bit more control in the hands of cataloging staff or system administrators

  11. Currently, the only way to view pending holds for pickup at other libraries in Request Manager is in the Polaris Client. We would like this brought over to Leap. This idea would make the Request Manager in Leap and the client equal in terms of capabilities.

  12. When using the Leap filter we would like to have option to select 'not equal to / <>' when dealing with shelf location filter.

We usually use things like collection and call number of what items to include when doing inventory. We would like to exclude items that are located on certain shelves. As we start putting more items into a Display shelf location we dont want to sweep any of those items up into our search.

  13. In the web PolarisAdmin, provide a button in "Dashboards: Web part editor: User defined" to assign/remove the web part directly to web pages.

Subsequent idea: Provide an option to assign/remove a web part to all web pages.
Subsequent idea: Provide an option to mark web pages as favorites or frequently used so we can quickly add/remove the web part to a set of web pages. E.g., Apply the updated Closure Notice to default.aspx, login.aspx, patronaccount/default.aspx, patronaccount/itemsout.aspx, etc.

    Idea Value
Offering this button would streamline the process of adding/updating the web part and immediately assigning/removing the part to its relevant pages.…

  14. Allow PowerPAC to lock independently of the other Polaris Admin features (client and web PolarisAdmin).

PowerPAC editing is locked when another SysAdmin is using the Administration Explorer. My primary responsibilities in the client are to update the PowerPAC, especially notes for upcoming library closures (holidays, staff development day).

    Idea value
Provides uninterrupted workflow for primary SysAdmin to continue working when the web services focused SysAdmin needs to update the PowerPAC dashboard elements/layout.

  15. When a patron accidentally scans an item twice at the ExpressCheck, it performs an auto-renew. It would be nice to have an alert stating it's a duplicate checkout or something that prevents it from using a renewal.

  16. If an item has a "lost" status, and is returned damaged we are unable to change the status to "damaged" via the check-in damaged option (must be in/out for damaged check-in to be used). This would be helpful for situations where the patron returns an item that was declared lost (either automatically by being +30 days overdue or manually) and then later found and returned to the library via drop box, to be able to demonstrate the item was returned damaged with no previous poor condition notes on the item.

  17. I think it would be helpful to automatically create an association between accounts when creating a new account by copying an existing one, e.g., using a parent's account to create a child's account. The Block and Allow options should still be checked manually, though.
The association could be removed after account creation, if necessary.

  18. When checking out a stack of items via RFID pad, LEAP will only display the held item's patron's name and barcode. It would be helpful to have the item's title and/or barcode, so we may capture the hold without going through each item individually.

  19. I would love to be able to create a Record Set of Holds. There are times when we need to bulk edit hold data because of library closures, etc. Being able to bulk change that data and store that data would be immensely helpful.
