  1. It would be very helpful to have a more robust item record history. It appears that only the last 12 months of item history is available. It would be great if Polaris would:
    A) keep the history of changes in the item record forever
    B) improve the data that is stored and presented to staff, for example, so we could see what exactly was edited on 7-26-23 in the screenshot attached. Perhaps by clicking on the entry and having the information pop up.

  2. When checking out a material and the the patron has history turned on, a pop-up appears saying this patron had out this item with a date or a number of days ago, so the patron doesn't check it out and immediately return it, especially would be helpful with ILL requests.

  3. We allow our Pages to check in items. In order to give them access they get access to Circulation control. That access is giving them access to both check out and check in of items. We would like to limit that access to only allow for check in and not check out. There seems to be a separate permission for the check in dialog box but nothing for check out and check out needs to be blocked for our Page group access.

  4. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  5. Please add a checkbox to exclude Inn-Reach items on the picklist. Inhouse requests are searched separately and by different staff than those who handle Inn-Reach requests, and so it would be nice to have their lists only display inhouse requests. Thanks!

  6. When checking-in an issue of a Professional serial, Leap will give a notification that a route list exists for that title. Leap will not link the new issue to the route list or print the list. Currently, my library has to use staff client when checking in Professional serials. It would be very helpful if this feature would be added to Leap.

  7. Some library staff need to be able to alter the label margin and font size for longer call numbers, longer author names, and longer titles, as well as how the printer prints that day. Currently, staff using Leap need to go back and forth between the Client and Leap to do so. Adding the label settings that are only accessible in the Client to Leap will make it easier for staff to make the transition to Leap by allowing them to maintain their workflow for their current printers.

  8. In 7.7, we now have the option to do INN-Reach check in, which is phenomenal! It has sped up this process immensely, making for happier staff and patrons.

However, the speed has brought with it some unexpected snags: The biggest at present being the color of the 'return uncirculated' toast as compared to normal INN-Reach processing.

Using Request Manager to receive INN-Reach items, the note that a 'patron no longer wants this item' was thrown front and center using standard Polaris work form coloration (which necessitated a more thorough reading of popups). If an item was still desired by a…

  9. We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection. Other customers may want to enforce selection of both Collection and Shelf Location. As long as…

  10. MARC records for non-Roman language materials come to us from OCLC with the vernacular script in the 880 fields. Since that doesn't display in Polaris/Leap like we want it to, we have been using MARC edit to swap the 880 fields with the transliterations contained in the regular MARC fields. We are hoping there can be a better way, and Polaris can simply let us choose to use the 880 fields for display when they are present OR display the 880 information alongside the transliteration.

There are several places where the transliteration appears when we'd like the vernacular script to…

  11. We would like there to be an option to add a note when declaring an item damaged from the patron account. Currently, there is no option to do that (see screenshot).

  12. This would be very helpful for a number of uses - such as when your book drop is fouled and you need to quickly bag items, bulk return via RFID and save the info for later resolution.

  13. When leap offline data is uploaded, it goes into [LeapOfflineTransactionDataID]. This contains PII information of the items & patrons that performed CKOs. However, this data is never cleared by the system, even after it is processed.

I can see keeping it around for awhile, but maybe have it follow one of the other settings in SA for purging data or set up a new SA setting for purging this PII data.

  14. It would be awesome if we could add or adjust the information that displays on the Check In screen in Leap, for example to include an item's shelf location for easier staff sorting - and it would also help to catch Display items that have circulated on their return.

  15. To be able to select multiply purchase order line segments and make a bulk change to a particular field, (eg. coll. code, fund code) Sometimes an error occurs in the import process and each line has to be populated manually. It would be amazing to be able to select an entire column and make the change.

  16. Libraries need a way to quickly alert communities to closures during an emergency across all PAC pages. A banner appears across all pages of the PAC and is easily edited.

  17. I love Polaris/Leap 7.7's INN-Reach check-in screen for receiving resource sharing items. Thank you for the update!

Please make it smart enough to handle returns to the owning library as well (or create a similar screen for returns), so staff doesn't have to do the cumbersome, branch-by-branch return process in Request Manager.

    Thanks!

  18. It would be helpful if we could move rows up and down in the item statistical class code policy table. We have librarians transferring items between branches that have statistical class codes in them. The codes will automatically change to a different code when assigned to the new branch because the position of the code in the policy table does not align. The cataloger must remember to update that field to the correct code.

This would be beneficial to our librarians, simplify their workflow, and prevent errors.

  19. It would be helpful to be able to create or update, via PAPI, patron registration records with the Title and Suffix fields populated. Currently, there is no way to ingest this information when using custom registration forms that utilize PAPI to create patron records.

  20. There should be an option to block patrons from placing holds on items if there is only one owning library and the circulation status of the item is listed as missing or in storage. While in storage items should be visible to patrons in the OPAC since sometimes that item can be taken out of storage if a patron wants it, they shouldn't be able to place a hold if there's only one owning library and their only copy is listed as in storage. Like withdrawn items, missing items simply shouldn't show up at all for patrons as an option.
