  1. There are times when Material Types and Circulation Statuses are not used by either the entire system or specific libraries. This can cause staff errors and general confusion when there are options available that are outside of the libraries workflow. We would love to see SA options that would be able to hide/suppress both Material Types and Circulation Statuses in the staff client/Leap.

  2. As libraries move away from using gateways to send text messages we would like to make the wireless carrier field optional.

  3. Currently, there is no way to adjust receipts. We only have the option of which fields and we are not allowed to put those fields in an order that suits our workflow. We would love to see Leap have a WYSIWYG editor so each library can configure font size, fields, etc. for each receipt.

  4. Please combine the items and the statistics on the bib record into one section so that we can see circ stats and item status without having to click multiple areas. We need this data to help us determine whether an item should be transferred from another branch, repaired, or replaced. Attached is how it looks in Staff Client, and it would be great if we could see this view in LEAP.

  5. Polaris currently (as of 7.8) offers some limited customization of which fields in the patron registration form in Leap are required to save a record.

When the "Name on ID" fields were introduced several releases ago (7.2?) we were excited. However, the way the feature was implemented meant that the primary name fields were now the "preferred name" fields and were required to be filled out in order to save a record. However, a record could be saved without recording a name on ID.

Our broader city government did not like us dropping the requirement to capture patrons' legal names,…

  6. I don't know if this is already planned for a future version; I didn't see it on the current roadmap, though. It's really important for cataloguers that they be able to save a bib record without having to make a change first, particularly for provisional bib records. The only way to make a provisional record become final is to resave it, and currently, Leap requires you to make a change in any bib record before saving it. I know the duplicate detection without saving is now available, and that's a great feature - but allowing at least provisional bib records…

  7. It would be super helpful to have the ability to create a report in Simply Reports (Bib list report) that would update an existing record set, which would then automatically update a Showcase/Carousel in the mobile app.

    Here is my example.
I created a report in Simply Reports, advance published it, and in SSRS I subscribed to the report and set it up to email me. (Receiving the report is just for tracking purposes. What is needed is the report to run and update the record set, to in turn update the Showcase/Carousel.)

When creating the report, under 'Bib record…

  8. Currently, the only option for importing a file with bibliographic data into a record set in Leap is by ISBN. It would be helpful for staff to have the option to be able to use UPC as well, as ISBN restricts this to just books and audiobooks. This leaves out DVDs and Blu-rays, as well as other non-book/audiobook material such as a Library of Things.

  9. Provide staff with a single click option in Leap to find titles on shelf at the location they are currently logged in under. Many staff default to using the PAC for its Available Now option - which is great but, is problematic if a customer doesn't have their card and/or doesn't know their password. While we can emulate the Available now search in Leap thru filters or saved search parameters, even accessing those saved searches can take several clicks. Offering an available or here now button would make this much faster and would be used very often

  10. We would like to see Elavon added as an vendor for ExpressCheck payments. Currently, because it is not an available vendor, we cannot customize our fees on our self-check machines.

  11. You should be able to search in the Find Tool by record modification date. So far I'm seeing this missing from Record Sets, Patron Accounts, etc.. This would make it easier to Find Records without having to resort to using SQL which makes it much more accessible to all staff.

  12. Currently there is a universal expanded/collapsed setting for the web parts. Providing individual settings would ensure patrons can immediatley view contents for key information.

E.g., Closure Notices and special events might be expanded by default as they include timely information while the other web parts (What's my PIN?, Add/edit Username, Suggest a Purchase) might be collapsed by default.

  13. Adding the $2 validation opens the door to using so many controlled thesauri, like Spanish headings via Queens and National Library of Spain, OLAC's video game headings, Homosaurus' headings, and many more that would make searching easier for customers and staff by providing access points that mimic how they talk about their interests and information needs.

It would be a step closer towards inclusion by using various existing vocabularies that institutions want to use, unlock more potential of the ILS, as well as improve authority maintenance overall.

  14. When declaring an item lost on a customer account, there is no way to add more to the note on the resulting lost item charge. All that is in the note field is "Declared Lost". It is sometimes important to give more context to the charge and that is why being able to add a note would help!

  15. Label printing can be a limited function in a large library system, using specialized printers to perform the task. Consistency is also important in the spine label. By being able to control access to this utility, it will ensure a better spine label product across a library system.

  16. If you are adjusting the column settings for Leap, the list of available options is not in alphabetical order. This makes it easier to overlook what options might be available to select.

As a former page, please put this in alphabetical order OR make the list filterable/searchable.

  17. I would like to be able to edit the transaction notes field in a patron account summary. We recently had an instance come up where someone forgot to add information to an item that a patron was being charged for. It would be nice to be able to go in and edit it after the fact as opposed to having to delete the charge and start over.

  18. We have locations that would like greater options for customizing checkout receipts. In particular, they would like to add an image at the bottom -- a library logo, or a graphic version of the library name, or a periodically changeable "word bubble" graphic promoting upcoming activities at the library.

  19. Enhance operational efficiency and standardization by allowing the saving of Leap power searches beyond individual staff profiles. Currently, saved power searches reside only at the personal level, hindering consistent workflows and leading to duplicated effort. Enabling system- or library-level saving for power searches will allow libraries to establish shared, robust searches, improving consistency and ensuring critical search capabilities remain accessible regardless of staff changes.

  20. We are removing overdue fines for our Children and Teen collections and wanted to enable auto-renew for the collection codes that are related to the Children and Teen collections, but realized auto-renew can only be enabled on an organizational level. It would be great if there was the ability to enable it on a collection level, especially for children's materials as, I'm sure we're all familiar, children are really bad at remembering to renew or return
