  1. Polaris supports a preferred pickup branch for patrons. This request is to extend that support to allow the patron to set a preferred pickup area.

    Many patrons prefer to 100% always use a particular pickup area, for example outside lockers. So, they shouldn't have to select that area everytime they make a request.

    This would allow them to set their own preferred pickup area the way they can set a preferred pickup branch. This preferred pickup area should also be used when the staff bulk places a title on hold for a batch of patrons, again the same way the…

  2. In Leap Serials, the ability to select multiple issues and then click check in is needed for large libraries to use Leap Serials, exclusively. The workflow of selecting each individual issue and then clicking check in is slow and tedious.

  3. We would like to be able to adjust the timeout in Leap after inactivity ourselves. Currently, we have to contact support to do this after each upgrade, since it resets itself. If the setting was in SA, we could reset it ourselves after each upgrade.

  5. When items are checked out through SIP2, Polaris includes the "You just saved __ by using the library" text in the response. However, this information is not available when using the ItemCheckout method through PAPI.

    As we start moving vendors away from SIP2 and towards PAPI, we'd like to replicate the functionality of SIP2.

  6. In the Item tab of the popup window for a patron's overdue charge properties, the "Check Out date" indicates the item's last renewal date, rather than its actual check out date. A more helpful date to see would be the original check out date; this would also better suit the title for this line.

When inputting information for an ILL request for a patron, our ILL clerk would like there to be a field where she can input the OCLC number of the item she is wanting directly into the hold request. That way when she exports the request, it will directly sync with the item she wants, without having to use ISBN.

  9. Could you please look into providing an input field on SQL Find tool searches to allow the library staff to easily enter a search parameter e.g. an items barcode, a patron barcode.
    At the moment with the SQL FIND TOOL searches we have created, we must teach them to go to the WHERE clause and correctly change the parameter before re-executing the query.
    A dedicated entry parameter would simplify the use and training of SQL searching using the FIND tool.

  10. Allow each library to specify specific material types(?) to not be allowed to be picked up in certain pickup areas. Example would be a wi-fi hotspot not being allowed to be picked up in a locker.

  11. Most of our libraries loan the library of things and museum passes to their own patrons. However, since all members use Adult Resident patron code for their resident patrons, it is not possible to limit materials to their own patrons. Could a checkout setting be added to the item records, similar to the hold setting "patrons from this library and branches" and "x days past first available".

  12. In our previous ILS, we had the ability for renewals to have a different renewal length compared to check out length. For example- books checked out for 28 days but renewals were 14 days.

  13. We would like to have an option where non-resident patron types have a blocking condition for e-resources, but it only limits e-resources. We would like for them to be able to still manage their online accounts and renew physical items, so the patron-initiated blocking condition does not work. Right now, that can only be done in CloudLibrary through SIP, not API.

    I think this idea needs some clarification. Are you using a non-resident patron code? If so, we do return the PatronCodeID in our PatronValidate API. I wonder if this is a situation where Cloudlibrary has infrastructure in place to support checking the patron code via SIP, but not yet via the Polaris API.

  14. On an item record, you can currently only see the information about the current borrower and the most recent previous borrower. This should be increased to at least 3, so that in the case of a question about condition or missing parts, we have more than 1 patron we can ask.

  15. Across our consortium, we have some library staff who exclusively use Leap, some who exclusively use the Remote Client, and some who use both depending on the task.

    Currently, there is only one system-level setting responsible for the Visual Alert Configuration (top banner color) in Leap & the Remote Client. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work well given that Leap has a light font color and the Client has a dark font color across the top, so to achieve an ideal level of contrast for both versions simultaneously is impossible.

While there are many advantages to way that Polaris calculates TOMs, there are currently some significant limitations for differentiating between formats. 4K BluRays, Playaways/Yotos, and video game systems are all very difficult to distinguish from one another when using only the MARC fixed fields. Additionally, many libraries are expanding their collections with Libraries of Things that are usually coded as "Kit" or "Three Dimensional Object" rather than describing what it actually is. These bib TOMS are also now featured prominently in Vega Discover's rollups.

  17. When the callnumber column is pulled from itemrecorddetails via SQL (as opposed to SimplyReports) it includes trailing and leading spaces. It's easy to fix these unwanted spaces in the client, but they don't show up at all in Leap, so can't be fixed. If Leap is to replace the client eventually, it would be great to able to fully edit these fields in Leap (we are hosted, so can't easily modify the data via SQL).

  20. We would like to be able to limit who can change the Expiration Date and Address Check Date in the patron registration workform. Off the two, Address Check Date is most important as this is what we use to make sure patrons are updating their information regularly.

    These are configured in SA and are set system wide yet staff continue to change them.

    If I remove the 'Patron registration: Modify permission' for member library staff, they won't be able to change other fields.
